I am addressing issues, yours.Uh huh. Anyone can beat about their intellectual superiority but talk is cheap. I'll take your arguments seriously when you actually start addressing issues rather than idpol or ad hom.
Everybody is an asshole sometimes Yoda, me too. If ya got a heart and your behaviors towards others don't make ya feel bad inside, don't bother with practice, you'd be wasting yer time. If on the other hand you do feel like shit about what you have done there is hope. A practice is the path to happiness and if you are incapable of walking it I feel truly sad for you. Notice I'm becoming more compassionate as I consider my actions and try to find a better approach. It would mean yer missing out on the deep ties that bind us humans into families and communities. Think of the joy and comfort that Donald is missing out on, look at what he is blind to and how mentally inflexible he is, an extreme case but such things are spectrum disorders too with a range in severity and lots of variety.
I'm not sure if yer behaviors rise to a pathological level and are organic in nature or a result of other factors. We haven't met in person and I haven't had a chance to eye ball ya, but I will tell ya this. If I do look into someone's eyes and try to divine their soul, the only reason I could do it is if I loved them like their mother, unconditionally warts and all. It doesn't mean I wouldn't defeat them in debate or any other thing, just that I understand them, nothing special about that, happens every day among those with a heart.
Happiness has no ulterior motive, it is an end in it's self, we do all the things we do in life to attain it and it is different than pleasure which is more ephemeral and requires an external object. This is a wisdom practice too and if ya haven't figured that out by now ya ain't too wise and that is different than smart, there are plenty of smart asses and few wise.
To enjoy the view you must first climb the mountain, there many paths up the mountain and each begins with a single step, it's the journey of a life time and it's the journey that counts, we're all dead in the end and they don't put luggage racks on hearses....
The original purpose of the practice is to end or reduce suffering, ones own and that of those around us, or said the the Buddha 2500 years ago. This ancient introspective genius didn't invent meditation, but he developed a school of thought and practices that have endured through the ages. Modern psychologists and psychiatrists are it's biggest fans and have built on it's mental models using modern science and improved it's methods too. It is needed more today than ever before with the stress levels going up in societies increasing decade by decade as a result of our fascination with technology and change. This also fosters social isolation and emotional stunting and this can truncate development for some.
Got a bum knee which is why I've been a pain in the ass around here lately, you'll be happy to know that it hurts like Hell, I can't sleep, the best Kush on the fucking planet doesn't help at all, practice does though, I watch the pain and don't avoid it, it helps the most. It hurts, but I don't suffer, I laugh like Hell through it too. Knowledge about the subject enough fur ya? Ya learn by doing on this one, yer teacher is your coach, reading won't help at all, practice will, it's one of them "just do it" things. Ya brain wash yerself and it's a gentile process for the most part and one Helluva walk on the wild side of yer mind. They call it taming the monkey for a reason!
BTW: Yoda, Starwars mythology comes from Buddhism, use the farce as well as the force to fight evil. Come into the light and take your place among the masters, if the force is strong within you.
