Dutch Passion's "Auto-Extreme" - 2400 watt - 12 plant - hydro grow

Hey Everyone!

Been pretty busy the last few months and haven't done any grow reports.
Last few grows were all Think Different anyways, and that's been done 100 times now.
We all know it yields like Crazy.
Time for something different.

On to AUTO-EXTREME.
So, on of the newer strains of auto's to come from Dutch Passion is "Auto-Extreme"
I've seen a couple grows, and my first impression is that it's a "leafy" strain.
I like super chunky, heavy buds with nothing to trim come harvest time.
I've heard that Auto Extreme likes to stretch ALOT. I've got a few things in mind to try to minimise that, but I'll be playing it by ear.
The seeds were free, so I'm going to run them and see what I can do with them.

I'm going to write this up with as much detail as possible so that people starting out can use this as a guide.
Obviously no two setups will be the same, but hopefully it'll help someone out there pull off a good harvest.

SETUP

4- 600 Watt HID lights with air cooled reflectors.
MH for first month/HPS after that.

4x8 Grow Tent.

12 site DIY hydroponic setup with 55 Gallon Reservoir.

12000 BTU portable AC inside the tent.

1/4 HP chiller to keep reservoir temps down.

Nutrients.

GH FloraNova Bloom from start to finish.

Additives.

GH Floraliscious Plus from start to finish. 1ml per gallon.

GH Liquid KoolBloom during the last 4-6 weeks at 2ml's per gallon.

Tea. (OPTIONAL)
In a 2 liter bottle I add:
1 scoop of Plant Success - Mycogrow Soluble.
5ml Floraliscious Plus.
1-2 tablespoons of un-sulphured molasses.
1 liter of water.

I shake the heck out of it until ALL the molasses is dissolved.
I then add that to a 5 gallon bucket and add water until about 2-3 inches from the top of the bucket.
I put an air stone inside the bucket powered by an aquarium pump to keep it
aerated.
I let it "brew" for 48 hours, and then put it into the system once a week.

This is to keep any root issues away, and create a HUGE healthy rootmass.
No need for root stimulator.

I don't use Earth Worm Castings in my tea because it CAN CONTAIN fungus gnats, and winged root aphids.
Ask Me how I know...

I've noticed no difference in the smell, color, consistency, or effectiveness of my tea without the Earth Worm Castings. You decide how you want to do it.

That's pretty much it. You don't have to run the beneficial microbes, but it's a win win.

Peace.

So, I dropped 14 Dutch Passion "Auto Extreme" seeds.

I simply took them out of the package, and dropped them into a small saucer of lukewarm water.
They will stay there for 24 hours.

No nutrients added, No root stimulator, and no PH adjustment of the water.

So, all seeds have sunk to the botton of the saucer in 24 hours. Some even have a tap root showing.
What I do now is take an old T-Shirt and cut out roughly an 8x8 square.
I soak the square in a cup of water and make sure the whole thing is soaked.

After that I ball it up in my hand make a fist to squeeze out most of the water.
I don't want it soaking wet, but I don't want to totally wring it dry either.*
Putting it in your hand and making a tight fist a couple of times get's it right were I want it.*
Then, just lay it out and make sure their are no dry spots.

I fold it over once and lay out my seeds about 1/4 inch apart.

Finally, I just fold the seeds up in the moist fabric, stick it in a ziplock baggie, and let it sit for another 24 hours somewhere warm.

2400w in a 4x8 alittle overboard IMO. Is 2-3x 1000w too hot for your tent even with AC+air cooled hoods?
1000w have deep penetration>ladies love deep penetration!
Your temps can handle it + your yields are top notch(along with bag appeal)
If only I could sample some...

Thanks A Lot, Man. I'm going to need quite a bit of luck running this in the summer. Temps are definitely going to be an issue. I'll deal with it as it comes though.

Yeah, I REALLY want to upgrade to 3-1000 watters.
Maybe a 600 in the middle, and a 1000 on both sides.
I know I could up my yield quite a bit with the better penetration.

I've got 4inches of sprayfoam insulation in the 10x12 room, but 3 of it's walls are exterior.
It heats up quick.

Only waiting on one seeding to pop it's head. I checked it, and it's almost got the seed casing off. It'll spring up tomorrow. Had to break out the old DIY Cloner. Hoping to keep these girls in here for a couple weeks. I may have to cut up the lid to get the plants out without damaging the roots, but it's all good.
I've got two airstones bubbling away in the res.
Only about 6 gallons of solution in the res.
Solution is nothing but 50/50 water and Beneficial Microbe Tea.

Some PVC, a few Mister Nozzles and a pump. The sprayers are on a timer to turn on for 15 minutes every 3 hours.

Hard to see the taproots, but 9 out of 14 are showing.

I was out of rockwood so just used some Coco-Coir seed starting pucks and wrapped the netpots with pantyhose so the coco doesn't fall into the reservoir. Once I transplant them, it won't matter. It's working great so far.

That's all for now.
I'm guessing Friday will probably be classified as day 1.
And we're off.

Nice little DIY cloner, good idea with the pantyhose too. Just don't let your woman know you used her stuff for your grow. you might experience some couch lock alright...

True enough. When I need something, I NEED it. No bother asking, just do what needs to be done. Either that, or spend 30 in gas to pick up 3 dollars in rockwool.
She'd see my logic after she calmed down initially. She won't miss em. She's got plenty.

If she came home and I was using her shoes to play Fetch with the dog I had better just won the lottery, lol.

Day 3

Hey all. Quick update on Auto Extreme.
One seed just didn't take. Saw the taproot coming out, but it turned to mush.
Probably the coco starter plug being too wet.
13 out of 14 isn't bad.
Sure I would have gotten them all to spring up if I was using rockwool.
The roots are looking great for day 3.
All of them look great. Happy, healthy and ready to produce.

Seems I'm off to a good start this round.

I don't need to say it... You already know I'm subbed.

What happend to the 1K's?

Are you using a 600 on the cloner?
I've still got to get some 1000's.
Right now I've got them under a 250 watt MH until I can free up a light.
Should be within the next day or so.
I also need to get some Reflectix over the top of that bin or I'm going to have algae issues from hell.
Should help keep the temps down too.

This is a new strain to me. I've got a feeling this is going to be an awesome ride from start to finish.
I got so dialed in to Think Different it almost became work.
ALMOST :bigjoint:

I've been smoking on TD for a LONG time now with only the occasional odd smoke from friends and I STILL haven't built a tolerance to it.
I love the TD smoke. Definitely a killer.
Hopefully this new strain will bring some dynamic to the table.

Trust me... It Will!! With that Haze In It, you could most likely Die... Lol sounds Killer.

Idk where you got the impression that the Bud is fluffy, all I'm seeing is Big Bitches with a Rock Solid Ass.. From LED and HID of course.. Haven't seen much from Our Cfl/T5 homies with the strain... Probably could never happen.

And I'm reading 80-90 days huh? Are you scrogging this time? I'm surprised with the TD giving you same effects when they could have gone a little longer; at different phenos.

Never the less, I hope you can push them to the limit of 100+? Maybe hope for atleast 3/4ths same phenos lol.
And GET A BETTER YIELD! THAT would be killer.

Good luck bro

ALRIGHT

So, I decided to build a totally new system for this grow.

I want a more modular system where I can move things around, or harvest plants as needed
I'm going to build a 12 bucket Flood and Drain system.
Pretty much going to be modeling it after this system.

Here's the float valve I found at USP.
Here's the rubber grommets I'll be using.
Here's a good place for 3.5 gallon buckets. You can get 15 for like 70 bucks shipped

Same grommets I've used on my other systems. They work great, and don't leak.
I've already got the digital timers, 10" netpots, Pumps, and 55 gallon reservoir.

I'll need to pick up some odds and ends, but it'll come together fast.

Stay tuned, and if anyone wants any info on building a similar setup feel free to ask any questions.

Peace.

Sorry for the lack of Pic updates, but there's not much going on at the moment.
Root's are EXPLODING with the beneficial tea.
They need to be transplanted out of the cloner soon since some the root's are touching the bottom of the bin.
Waiting on a few things to come in the mail to get this system up and running, but I must say - IT'S COMING TOGETHER GREAT.
SUPER EASY system to build with stuff that's readily available at lowes.

I'm going to start up a new thread on building the system step by step with exact parts so people can save a few hundred dollars on their hydro system, and take pride in knowing THEY built it.

So far I'm using 3/4 inch grommets from lowes with 3/4" barbed fittings (from lowes).
A 15/16" spade bit to dril the holes, and it all fits perfect.
Nice and tight. DEFINITELY won't have ANY leaks, and you don't have to be Hulk Hogan to push in the fittings.
I tried a 3/4 bit and I could get the fittings to go it with a LOT of effort. Although they would have worked fine, I don't think they would have stood up over time while taking the fittings in, and out.

For a 12 pot unit from HTG supply your talking 600 bucks.
You can build it yourself for just under 300 which is still less than what they are asking for the 6 bucket system.

All in all, I hope I can do up a good enough step by step that people can feel confident building it, and saving a few hundred bucks for a decent system.
300 bucks for a 12 bucket ebb and flow system is a pretty good price.

Will get some pics up soon.
Peace.
