Yeah, I'll probably make a few videos of the grow.

I'll make a video of how to build the system after the grow is done.
Will Do a step by step on the build as I go along.

Just been busy lately with everything going on. You know how it is.

Haha, No Jail.
Life has been CRAZY busy. Juggling WAY too many things lately. Sorry for the lack of updates.

The bucket style Ebb n Flow system I made is working GREAT. It's given me NO PROBLEMS whatsoever.
I also built the Window AC unit Water Chiller. It's keeping the reservoir at a STEADY 68F and Barely runs.
Dropped the cooling coil from the AC in a 5 gallon bucket. I bought some stainless steel tubing from a brewing supply store and made my own cooling coil.
I have the stainless steel cooling coil in the reservoir, and a 500gph pump circulating water through it from the 5 gallon bucket where the AC cooling coil is.
I just put the thermostat from the AC unit in the 5 gallon bucket and it works perfect. No need for a digital thermostat.
I'll get some pictures up of that soon. It's SOOOO easy, I recommend it to anyone looking for a chiller.

I have to say, Auto Extreme is a CRAZY plant. I'm at 63 days and I could harvest right now with a pretty good haul.
Think Different has NEVER flowered this fast. If these plants keep on going to 90 days they will be MASSIVE.
Compared to think different, Auto Extreme is a light feeder in my experience. I'm running right at 1.0 EC / 500ppm.
I've tried pushing the EC to 1.1-1.2 and the plants HATED it.
VERY easy strain to grow. So far the buds aren't quite as dense as TD, but the smell is better, and the buds are FROSTY.

Thanks Man! Yeah, I'm REALLY hoping they'll fill out quite a bit. Everyone told me they were going to stretch like hell compared to Think Different, but they never did. I've still got bare spots in the screen which would NEVER EVER happen with 12 Think Different plants in a 4x8. All th colas are pretty good size and they've got a month to fatten up so my fingers are crossed for a good pull.
As always Tav, lookin pretty righteous.

Interesting coil setup, it's sort of like a setup for makin 'shine!
Haha. I've actually ran a few batches of some shine a few years back. Same type of coil, but I used copper.
I can't believe how cool the DIY chiller is keeping my Res. We're steady in the 80's and it hasn't moved from 68.
It barely runs. I'll bet I could pull the temps down to the low 50's, high 40's if I turned it all the way up.

I've seen some people just put the cooling coil into their reservoir, but I know for a FACT that's a bad idea.
The water I originally put into the cooling system was 9ppm.
I was curious, and checked it about a week later and it was 300ppm.
So, that's 300ppm of Copper, Aluminum, and Lead.
That would DEFINITELY put a hurt on your plants, and interfere with the other nutrients in the solution.

Yeah guys, I pretty much screwed this log up. I ended up harvesting 2 weeks early getting called out of town.
I didn't take any pictures of the final yield or any of that.
I got more busy than I could ever have imagined.

Final yield was pretty much exactly 2.5 pounds in under 80 days.
About half of what I would have expected from Think Different.
It was foxtailing all to hell so I know I ran it past it's prime, but given more time it could have put out more weight.
I didn't give these plants the attention that I usually do being as busy as I was.

Either way, I can confidently say that Auto Extreme doesn't yield as well as Think Different.
The smoke is good, smells like cannabutter after curing. Very mellow but distinct butter smell.
Yield wasn't really where I wanted it to be, but I can't blame the plant.
I've seen Auto Extreme yield quite a bit.
Buds had a high leaf to bud ratio(really leafy bud).
Don't get me wrong, they were some super huge cola's and hard nugs, but it was populated with leaves that really dragged down the bag appeal.
Good medicine though all around.

Sorry for bending this journal over and grabbing it by the hips, but I just didn't have time to keep up with updating it.

Next journal will be something EPIC.
Promise. :weed:

Back to Growing Think Different for a while. :hump:

Auto's are just so damn EASY and FAST.
I'm going to be moving into some Photo strains here pretty soon.

Being able to take a few clones, then grow out like 6 plants of a few different strains then have them tested to see exactly their makeup and which I want as mothers is too hard to pass up.

I'll never stop growing auto's, but for consistency in absolute top quality medicine for the pickiest of patients, it's a must.

You really think I could pull the same weight with 2-1000's as I do with 4-600's?
I'm all about simple.
I'd actually like to try it out.
I know I'm missing something, just not sure how much.
4-600's over a 4x8 ScrOG is pretty good light. I get VERY LITTLE popcorn bud but then again I trim all that shit out about half way.
I'm thinking the penetration would let me leave some of the lower stuff I rip out.

True that.Comment on the Simplest, you could start out with two 1,000sIf you Honestly Can't get the same results you could always work up to 3... Than 4?It will take awhile because even the Simplest will sometimes come out Short.. Telling yourself, I know I can do it this time around! I have to tweak this and that! Figurin that is all the fun. You already have the Ventilation there already! I say do it

DEFINITELY some White's.
Do you know off hand if the 1000's will fit in the 600 sockets?
It would be nice just to buy some ballasts, bulbs and keep the rest of my setup.
I imagine they would, but I've never looked into it.

A Damn good question, that I've actually only seen asked Once on here. Luckily for you a Buddy of mine just did this with a 600w in a 400w Wing.

It ALL depends on the Brand. The Easiest way to do this, would be to Buy a Bulb and Ballast with the Same Brand that you're using the Hoods with right now. The Goal is to Match the Ballast with The Bulb.

But it gets Tricky, Brands like Lumatek make their ballasts with 2 different type of sockets (standard and hydrofarm)If you get the Lumatek ballast with same socket then it will be plug and play. If you get Lumatek ballast with different(from your current)socket then you need an adapter... Which are pretty cheap if I remember right.

So.. Depends on What you're using as of right now
