I`d get the extension cord and then just make a wire and a plug for the extra timer you can`t fit in ?

Well not make your own led that would be very hard, all you have to do is get an led chip glue it to a heatsink and get the right driver and wire it up

making a cob led chip from scratch, I`d leave that to a factory but it could be fun

Maybe one day we`ll just buy some 3000k paint and paint a whole wall then wire it up and it`ll glow, lol
Yes, but I fit bigger one with 8 plugs that way I can all three timers plug in with no problem.
that extension cord hold max 8000watt
I would not have problem as long as i dont use more than 16 amp ( 20amp 80%)?

I got you know, would like to see the one that you made~

This is gonna be crazy if you have the whole wall led. Please make a journal if you really doing it one day.
Do you think COB work better than the one with small chips?
Thanks again for your feedback!

Whatever you end up doing, just remember that a circuit breakers main purpose is to protect the conductors of its circuit from an overcurrent.

A 20a breaker, with a 16ga wire won't trip if it pulls 15a. But, that wire is gonna got hot as the dickens in a hurry, and the hotter it gets the more resistive it becomes; now you have a large voltage drop. It may not burn, but the voltage drop will certainly damage most of your equipment badly
Thanks for feedback!

I just bought a DMM yesterday. I will have some check out before I connect. What if voltage drop? Whats the range for 240V?

Sorry what is dickens in a hurry mean...apologized for my English.
600 watt pull about 3 amp each in 240V. Thats 9 amp total for lights
two 23watt pump on the my ebb controller. probable less than 1 map, I would just count it 1 amp
so thats 10 amp total use. do you think I should be fine?

Once again thanks for sharing your knowledge

"hot as the dickens" is basically a way of emphasizing how hot something is without using curse words, or another way of saying hot as hell. Of course the definition may vary regionally even inside the borders of the U.S. LoL

I`m not sure if cobs work better but they are smaller lighter and easier to make your own lamps with them

I know the 1w led panels get better gpw then the 3w ones do or the 5w or most cobs but then you have these huge heavy panels everywhere and they don`t penetrate as well so you need to do loads of shorter plants with the bigger cobs you can grow 2m to 3m hell maybe even 4 to 6m plants and not struggle to light them all the way down, with 1w leds its really hard to get 2000 chips up over 1m, maybe it could be done with smd strips or something I do think there must be a really efficient way to do it with small leds but building it would be so much work, cobs are almost as efficient and a lot easier to work with

yeah just go with the 8 way plug and only run 3 maybe 4 lamps off it max, after 10 hours a 13 amp uk 220v plug gets pretty hot running a 1000w hps on a digital ballast, not mega hot like a 3kw heater makes them but you notice it

I found some 300watt panel with small chips 3watt I guess. its for like 100USD. After some research, I found ppl recommend COB over small chips ones. Like what you mentioned COB can grow plant tall. small chips panels need to have it close to the plants. Also harvest with more dry wright compare with HPS. Still need to get a 600watt light for my next grow. Maybe led is the option for me by runing it with 2 600HPS in 10 x 5 tent. Not sure if I can make one like you said. If 300watt panel work fine. i would also consider that one too.

I bought 8 way plug yesterday. total 1800watt is what I am going to have for light. I guess I wont have 1000W hps as I live in hot and humid area. Im not sure if portable A/C have can have it cool down enough.

waiting for my new tent and ebb system arrived. Hopefully my clone grow quicker. really want to shorter veg time

I was looking on ebay today straight up budge led chips from china

£9 to £10 you get 1 x 100w cob and 1 x 100w waterproof driver

all you need to source is a heat sink and thermal cement and point a fan at the heatsink when the led is on if your heatsink is not huge

I`d get them maybe 8 in 3000k and 2 in 5000k put them up in a flowering room and I`d hope for 1 to 3 kg`s out of a 1 to 3m space

So yeah you can probably build a 1000w cob led light for under £100 thesedays if you mega budget it

really this cheap? I want to have one but my budge is only 500USD left.
after watch some DIY video. I think it would be hard for me to cut those metals.

I heard people now use more 3500K. have you ever heard of that?

somewhere between 3000k and 4000k is the sweet spot

I`ve hear of people using 10,000k depends what your trying to do, even the cooler cobs still pack a lot of reds but they have blues people that want yellow, brown and orange hairs and buds normally are better off using more blue, people that want more hair and want it white to yellow I find warmer whites do it

Normally 3000k to 5000k works but if you use 3000k early then move to 5000k or more for the last 2 weeks you can still orange up the buds a hell of a lot, obviously the plants diet does some of that too along with its genetics

Why do you need to cut metal ?

You thermal glue the led chip to a heatsink you can even use an old pc cpu heatsink, but I normally shop for some 300mm ones and put 1 to 4 100w led chips on them, just whatever is affordable, your learning once you have built a few and master your growing then if you want to upgrade to uber lights you can

but you`ll probably just make your own ghetto shit it`s so funny when your homemade plastic take away box and cable ties light is putting out more light than something that cost way more

and normally its the drivers that go they cheap china ones normally last 6 months to a few years but you could get unlucky I guess but @ under £6 each who bloody cares ? gotta change a hps bulb ever 6 to 12 months and they cost me like £20 to £60 each, there glass, led shit you can just re-use or chuck in the bin easy

Hids you should recycle due to the metals in them

I saw some have a flat metal cut hold on it to fit the chips that thermal glue to heatsink, and have a fan below out the heat from heatsink. I also saw some making them with big heat sink, less cutting on metal, but still need to drill holes.
I only have to tool that can drill holes on wood or plastic. Not sure if I can have this done by myself. I think I know how to wire it up, but not sure which power supply and parts I should choose.

What I see from the net, most people build it with a fan. Are you talking about the one without fan cooling?
Could you have a post the link of that ghetto led it could probably be the one I can make..
I heard a lot people use CXB3590 would you recommend that?

Its been busy for my new setup recently. Most of equipments are arrived, just waiting for clones grow bigger then I will have them to my new tent veg a bit longer to fit scrog net. I will have it veg under two 600w MH as I didn't know led could have better result, with this affordable price(diy one)
so its gonna be 2 600watt hps in the tent, but you think another 600watt cob is enough?
Im sure I want to try one of these led when flower. Hope you can gve me a hand on this.
much appreciate.

The CBX`S are good so are the meanwell drivers but more than I`d pay for parts but people get great results

Straight up screwing the led chip to the heatsink is not needed I have ran a 100w led chip @ 70w with a small fan on the heatsink all I used was thermal grease not even thermal glue or cement and the chip still stayed on the heatsink it even means on that light I can swap out the led chip easier

I was worried it would drop when it got hot but ran that in a small veg tent for 6 months and it was fine

So I know thermal cement will hold the cobs on

Yeah you don`t always need a fan, if the heatsink is large and there`s good airflow it`ll normally stay cool enough, but I like to just pipe an in or out fan onto the leds to cool them as you have to make that noise anyway and it saves adding loads of 12v pc fans to the lamp when you make it

I`d go for 100w to 600w per chip and shop around

5000k leds make more frost and yellow/orange hairs

3000k seems to make more hair but it normally takes longer for the plants to go orange and frost up

I`d judge what chips I was getting most 100w chips run best around 70w but if there budget 100w chips then I drive them with 100w drivers to make up some extra light

but 300w chips @ 150w is good they stay cool and last

maybe get yourself 4 x 300w chips say 3 x 3000k and 1 x 5000k and then 4 x 150w to 200w drivers or even get fancy variable ones so you can go 100w to 250w ?

You can get 2gpw using cobs for sure

but I`d say this 600w hps`s use more than 600w some on super use over 700w and people that have only used hps before need to adjust to using LED`s some need to make their substrate dry faster some have to change their feeding up or down

But with 600w of well used LED you can get 1kg of bud

If I was using 1200w of HID I would normally use 1200w of LED if I could I would use more, but I love to over kill, normally with HID`s I`m using less than I want to put in a space due to the heat so leds allow me to get more or light more area

but even a cheap`o "300w" so 150w consumption panel and a 100w 3000k warm white cob, with a single mum of 3 doing her 1st grow in a 60 x 60 x 160cm tent, got 100g per plant from 2 plants, one was cali mist, the other was indoor mix female seeds seemed like ice or ice x widow, that was in coco and an early harvest.

So even some budget crap and a 1st time grower can make some nice buds, so yeah man I think you can handle it

I`d probably build up 800w to 1200w of led but you might get away with 600 to 800w , maybe if you scrog you`d yield up more not a luxury I can do at the moment, would be nice to be able to individually net train some kushy trees will keep one like that once we`ve had a big rearrange/overhaul

@littlejacob told me that http://www.cutter.com.au/ can get me the hand for put the parts together. As have no experienced even everyone tole me its easy to build. I dont know man, its kind of expensive dont what to fucked up these expensive chips.
All I know is that I am using CXB
Im not sure what specification will I need for my grow. would you recommend higher watt use with dimmable fuction? whats that for? why not run at full power?
appreciate that

Sometimes its just too hot to run full power winter vs summer normally a 20 to 30c difference so normally you can push more light over a smaller area in the winter but in the summer you need to dim down or spread the area bigger to disperse the heat
