Seems like a lot of the commercial made led panels have quite a bit of blue light in them. Is anyone noticing how this effects their buds? Are they more airy because of the extra blue light compared to more white/orange/red?

I am interested in using leds that are already on the market and seeing how I can make them work for me. The plants that I have not screwed up seem fine with dense buds. All negative issues are resulting from operator error, not blue light.

I use a Vipar A300 that has quite a bit of blue in it and my only problem is the excessive leafy growth that comes with too much blue in the flowering room, especially with indicas.
Sometimes the output of the blues completely overpowers the other colors in a LED panel, creating a poor product that puts the grower at a disadvantage before they've even started growing. Plus the effects of blue light can be detrimental to many organisms/biological processes and plants can show environmental stress from excessive blue, so while I'm with you on operator error being chief reason number one, some growers can already be saddled with failure before they begin. Unless you want to argue they they should of known better to begin with, well ya got me there

I haven't mentioned the autos for awhile. I have 4 in my other Blackstar Led tent. The tall one is an Ultra Violet and the short one is 1 of 3 Narcotic Kush plants. The first feeding at 2 weeks was fine with the UV, but burned the Narcotic Kush. Since then, I have feed very little. The ultra violet lost a bunch of leaves (turned yellow and I removed) from not enough food while the others are just recovering from the first feeding. BTW, feedings range from light to extremely light compared to bottle directions. Be careful with your autos. I would not feed them at all if they look strong and healthy.
Check out the difference. The short one is 9 3/4" tall. Started from germinated seed in the existing pot. No trouble at all.

All of my first 4 plants are down. The 3 white widows, which suffered from the last week of veg till harvest, produced 62g of dry, trimmed small buds of very decent smoke. The Critical Jack Herer was a beautiful {mostly sativa} plant with very dense, almost leafless buds and lots of them. Very nice!!!
AS soon as stuff is dry and the tent is cleaned, I will start either LSD, Holy Grail Kush or a double or nothing grudge match with the remaining White Widow seeds. I will also rearrange the exhaust fan to the outside of the tent so I can use the room to fine tune the Blackstars.
FYI, I am only doing this for the fun of it. What Ihave harvsted far exceeds what I can use. Much will be shared with family and friends.

The tent is cleaned, rearranged and ready. 3 Holy Grail Kush seeds are in a cup of water for 24 hrs. 2 seeds were larger than the 3rd. Only 2 plants will make the cut. (just like spring training).

24 hours in water, then into damp paper towel till tails start, then into solo cup of soil. All 3 are up and going.

I had plans to harvest the autos on Tuesday.I came home after being away for a few days to find my light hanger had broken and my light had crushed 2 and 1/2 of 4 plants. The heat seemed to have not done too much damage and most was salvageable. I got 85 grams from the 4 of them which was about what I guessed. I have a few auto seeds I got as freebies which will go outside, but not as an indoor plant anytime soon. The weed is not particulary interesting. I germinated 2 LSD seeds for the empty tent and now have two varietys of seedlings and some more experience to grow with. I will post some up dates once I get closer to flower. This grow (both of them) should be a better test for the Blackstars now that I have gone a few rounds with them.

I have always called it by it's common name, "clover plant". That may be it's text book name.

Thanks for the thread and video good job.I'm real close to buying an LED the black star chrome 6 seems to have done a nice job for you. So much though that I think it's the one for me. I too will starting from zero I might go with the (9) 405 watt. 3 maybe 4 plants is what I'm after. Quality is what i'm after not the amount.Tired of paying 50 a 1/4 for just avg. stuff. Once agian thanks for the effort on this thread. Giving +1 rep

Wattage and coverage don't always match up. The Chrome (9) would be fine in a square area that meets their spec, size wise. 2 smaller lights with similar combined wattage would be more flexible in some spaces. This applies to sq. ft. coverage as well as different ht. requirement that different phenotypes of the same strain may need.

I agree that you need to carefully consider the footprint you want when choosing your lights. I'm running (3) 240w LEDs in my cab, (1) for each plant in flower.... Seems to be working pretty well, started flowering last weekend. The multiple lights allow you to fine tune distance to canopy. Hope you don't mind me posting a pic in your thread.

BTW-Is the towel for humidity? Assuming yes, I did the same thing with an air stone in the water. I eventually removed it when I was looking for the source of problems, but will use it again this time around if I need more humidity.

yes, it's for humidity, but I don't think it does much... No air stone in mine, just a gallon pitcher and a towel. CO is so stinking dry I ought to put a swamp cooler up in there somehow.
