Tell me about your 4x8 design, I enjoy hearing ppl's rig- each one is custom fit and always has its own nitch. I have one blueprinted out, (4x8') just have to get the cellar light and water proofed then ill be slowly converting. Electric bill will take a hike though..
I received word from my doc and I've been approved in the MMAR for 16 plants. Now I know my grow will be legal and I'll be able to sell some of my product (legal growers get put in touch with medical patients by the program). The law does not put a maximum on how much you can harvest per plant, so I will be maximizing the harvest out of every plant. My current plan is to have 4 grow areas, each in its sealed tent (except the mother tent) and scrog'd for full effect.
Grow Area 1 - 2x4 tent - 2 Plants
This is my current area. It's 100% stealth in a closet because back then I wasn't sure I'd get my card. It'll stay there.
For its next grows I'll be growing a medical strain, high in CBD content. For my personal stash mostly. Not sure which yet, though.
I'll keep the DWC setup for now.

I ordered a PAR meter so I'll carefully check what the lights output above canopy and if I'm not measure an even 1000-1200 umol across the canopy I will add a third 420PAR. But I'll have to see how the first two lights do and there's no other way but to measure it myself.
I've researched and compiled the list of parts I'll need for my RDWC under current system. Basically it's a six 5 gallon bucket system with 8" air disc at the bottom of each bucket and 960gph of air (three GH pumps) with a 18 gal control reservoir, chilled and pushed out with a mag7 pump (700gph). Total cost: around 600-700$
This doesn't include any shipping fees. An "equivalent" UC6 system from CCH2O is around 1100$. I say "equivalent" because my setup has twice the water pump power the UC6 has and is much more space efficient. DIY all the way. I already have the tools, drills, bits, etc. from my PC modding days. My
current PC is watercooled. The six buckets + control tub will be in tent but the reservoir will sit outside the tent.
The actual tent dimensions are 55.5x78 so I have 30 square feet of surface area for my scrog to cover. 5 sqft per plant is a good measurement I think.
I'll run the whole loop on a 1/4hp chiller but the RDWC res will be cooled by the hydroinnovation coils. The 90gal res is to run the 8" icebox and 8" max-fan HO and the coil. It will also top off the control tub in the tent via a float valve with cold RO water. I can't run the control tub and the 90gal res on the same chiller loop so that's why I'm resorting to watercooled coils. It's cheaper than buying even a 1/15hp chiller just to chill your RDWC system.
I'm very excited for my PAR meter to arrive because I'll be able to compare my Area51 170W to my Indagro 200w side-by-side, taking PAR readings in exact same condition.
LED is probably the future but currently, if you take spectrum, wattage and PAR into consideration induction is probably better buck for the money.
