Also if you have air sucking out of the tent turn it off so the humidity stays high until the plants get stronger.

Hello again Rollitup! How goes it?

Is has been 8 days since the last update this is what we’ve been up to.

Of course I have new changes in the setup. I finally have both intake and exhaust connected directly to the outside, with that in mind and the low temperatures we’ve had in so-cal these past days it has been real easy to keep the temperature low with no need of cooling down the light. I’ve had the ladies in mid 70’s these past days and they sure enjoyed the weather ;).

We have a new addition to the family I recently purchased a cutting at a dispensary supposedly “Jack Herer x G13”. I still don't have her in the tent with the other plants, some of the leaves have small whitish discolorations, she is currently in quarantine under some CFL’s. If anybody could help and tell me if it is some kind of “critter” it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the link to some close-ups of the clone https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/581481-clone-spider-mites.html

JACK HERER x G13.jpg

One of the Kosher Kush looks a bit deformed the leaves are forming in a weird pattern. It was the “runt” of the 6 Koshers. Im real interested in seeing how she turns out.

DEFORMED KOSHER KUSH.jpg

As of today (11/12/2012) they have been growing under 18/6 for 17 days. I still haven’t taken any decisions about topping, fimming or supercropping; they still look so small I don't know how they are going to grow. With mainly “kushy” genetics is there any personal tips/advice?

I also haven’d used any nutrients yet. I haven’t been watering them much I’ve done more of a heavily-water/ let-dry-completely kind of schedule, tonight I will water them one more time with no nutrients and the next time they will start with a small dose of nutrients “Fox Farms Grow big & Big bloom”.

I still haven’t purchased a humidifier.I kind of blindly walked into a target and had no clue what to get and the tray with water inside the tent is not cutting it.

Note to self: I really think that planting the seedlings with the peat pots has stunted a tad bit the growth.

Here is what the ladies are currently looking like (11/12/2012).

Hello RIU!

Once again more changes in the setup, I had some problems with my intake booster fan it slowly got louder and louder to a point where the motor was just screeching. I kept the receipt so I went back to my local grow shop and returned it leaving with a new Vortex 4" in-line fan. I also purchased a fan speed controller to keep the tent as discreet as possible, I am really stoked with the current air flow setup.

SETUP 11:19.jpg
11/16/2012 – First time feeding with nutrients. I used less than half of the recommended dose as directed on the Fox farms feeding chart. As of right now during the vegetative state I will lightly water with both big bloom and grow big every other time.

11/17/2012 – The deformed Kosher Kush was topped right before the first internode, the deformed top of the plant did not let any internodes grow, all the growth was on some deformed top leaves. The two tops are vigorously growing and looking “normal.”

P1020905.jpg

The G-13 X Jack Herer clone that I purchased at a local dispensary did not have more signs of spider mites but I just didn’t want to take any chances with spider mites in the tent. I kept it for a while in a separate cabinet under CFL’s but I preferred to just kill it. I lost $15.00 in a clone, learned my lesson about dispensary clones.

Quite frankly this has made me think about acquiring a smaller tent for clones / mother plant. In the meanwhile I will read up on what having such a setup involves. If anybody wants to facilitate some cloning / mother plant information that would be highly appreciated.

At this point after looking at the development of the plants and being open to ANY growing style what would you recommend? Should I build a PVC frame and create a SCROG? I was thinking about fimming around the 6th to 7th internode starting from the internode after the cotyledon and working around tomato cages. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

hi there realstyles. I currently have a mother/veg box.
my temps are 68-78 and humidity 45-55 throughout day.

The box is in my room. The humidity is about 55-75 in the room.

I have both an intake, and exhaust fan running 24/7

my plants seem pretty good in rheis environment, do you think turning off my intake would make things even better? Would I not need to sprayy plants so much of at the higher humidity? Thanks!

Those definitely look like mite bites to me, I wouldn't let that thing near my other plants until its met some type of knock down spray every three days for two weeks or a month even to break their life cycle.

On a more positive note I got the same freebees as you and I'll be subbed to see your harvest, especially interested to see how the Cannalope Kush comes out, there is very little info available online about it and I don't just take the breeders word for it. :) :bigjoint:

Thanks for your advice! Yeah I ended up killing that clone, just didn't feel like going thru any more trouble during my first grow dealing with any type of spider mites.

Yeah, I couldn't find much info about the Cannalope Kush either. I know its early but so far the OG-Kush is the star of the ladies.

Hello RIU

I can finally say that I haven’t made any changes in the current setup. Having a speed controller connected to the intake has made the grow pretty stealth. I have a tad bit of negative pressure inside but nothing a ventilation window wont fix ;).

- This is what the ladies are looking like 31 days veg.

P1020969.jpg

Looking around RIU i’ve really fallen in love with some SCROG setups and would like to start to grow SCROG as soon as possible I can wait for a next grow but I would like to start learning the SCROG method. Having a 4x4 tent with 8 plants would it be counter productive to grow SCROG?

I would probably just build a PVC frame and just screw on some sort of screen.

11/21/2012 - All the plants were fimmed except the one plant I let my girlfriend FIM and she FIMMED’ and topped her. They were all fimmed between the 5th and 6th internode with a sterile scissor.

So far the OG-Kush has been thriving amazingly its growing so much more branches than all the other ladies.

Looking good! Are you flowering in the 4x4 tent also or moving them into a bigger space with the 600 watt? Be careful not to grow those babys too big if they are stayin in that tent, scrog can get out of hand sometimes haha

I was going to flower them in the same tent. Is 8 plants too much to SCROG in such a small space? I'm a noob if SCROG would be counter productive please tell me :) there is no NEED to SCROG my first grow. Should I think about flipping soon?

thank you :)

Today I bought eight 3.4 gal Air pots and some Roots Organic soil. Was thinking about transplanting either tonight or tomorrow, once they've recovered from the transplant I was planning on flipping them.

Indicantonio, my boy! Glad to see you here.

Can you post a full pic of the tent at this point? Was curious on your setup but in a later pic looks like it might be fixed from something I glimpsed in the background.

Those girls are gonna be fun lol :)

Hello RIU!:hump:

No major changes in the setup everything has been smooth around here.

Since FIM/TOP and LST the vertical growth of the ladies has slowed down a lot. I really need to start LST from the beginning next grow, being the first time training them I have had a heavy hand in numerous occasions. One of the plants I snapped easily 60% of the main stem I quickly wrapped it with tape and I cannot believe how she is thriving like nothing happened. Their has definitely been more branching. Specially the Og-Kush branching has been really standing out in the tent, so far I’m loving this freebie more than the other ladies!

Current setup, not sure how much I can veg looking at my vertical space.

CURRENT SETUP 30 NOV.jpg

11/29/2012 - I transplanted the ladies into 3,4 gal air pots. I mixed the left over FFOF soil that I had from the original 1 gal pots with Roots Organics soil and watered them with very little nutrients. The roots were really ALL OVER the walls of the 1gal pot I hope I wasn’t *TOO* late in transplanting.

I am real excited about these air pots, I now have a small problem. I can no longer have the plants raised in a tray so I need to find a water/drainage solution. As of right now I have the bottom of the tent with small puddles of water that have drained through the pots with the first watering but I wouldn't like to have it like this much longer. Any help fellow stoners?

The main reason of changing soil is that FFOF by itself seamed to keep too much moisture and Roots Organics seams a lot better draining wise.

Reading around RIU i’m not sure if I still want to SCROG it seams that it wouldn't be the smartest idea for a first grow. So Im guessing tomato cages, any suggestions?

As of right now I will be flipping 12/07/2012 42days into veg. Will leave dark for 24 hours and then start with 12/12 with a 600w/hps and feed every other time with Big Bloom and Tiger bloom nutrients.

Yesterday while I was transplanting I notices that some bigger fan leaves have these "spots" should I be worried about it? Couldn't really figure out if it is some deficiency.

2- DEFICIENCY 30:NOV.jpg2-DEFICIENCY 30:NOV.jpg

I'm very proud of my current setup wanted to show it off. I have fresh air and exhaust directly hooked to my bedroom window. And next to the tent my closet/gardening space. In the future I would like to add a smaller vegging area in the closet. Maybe even a smaller CFL Rubbermaid box.

Looking at your journal you are doing mighty fine with 400w HPS. Yeah I can't wait to flip them just don't know how much stretching to expect.

Nice, I have the same setup with 7 ladies from seed, started 10/17, looking to veg for 8 weeks. I moved my filter to the end of the system, with the fan and filter outside the tent. The fan sucks the air from the inside of tent via the open end of the light fixture and the air is scrubbed then pushed out to the atmosphered cleaned. i have done several grows this way. Just important to have good fan not one that will be destroyed by heat (plastic bearings ).
