first grow conditions so far: any feedback?

Mg Is Fine......looks Good Man I Grew Some Nice Ak W Mg. Had No Problem But I Did Change To Fox Farm And It Made It A Lot Better. But Good Work Looks Good

On the next grow, and if you have the same lights I would probably suggest starting out with them alot closer from the beginning. Raise the light as they grow taller. From the looks of some of the pics, they were stretching and once they stretched to a point is when they started filling out. Basically, they stretched until they were getting the light they wanted to really grow. Thats just what I see, I am on my first grow also.

ya know, i was thinkin they looked a little stretched, but i feel like part of that is that they were all bunched up together, so they formed this huge canopy, blocking the light to their mid/low-sections.

but maybe you're right about the light being to high up. looking back on my journal, here's how i've adjusted the lights, so far:

8/2 put the sprouts in soil in sunlight, for a week.
8/9 brought them inside, 23 inches from a 400 mh agrosun gold bulb.
8/14 light 10 inches from plants (gradually lowered lights since 8/9)
8/25 light moved up to 18 inches (babygro scolded me)
<<[8/31 fdd notices pics from 8/30 that reveal tiny preflowers- 29 days from seed...]>>
sometime between about 8/28 and 9/11 lights moved down to 10 inches,
by the good affirmation i got from chosen and others...

so they have been up and down this whole time- what a mess i've been lol

next time i'll strive for a relatively close and stable distance from the light

I also wanted to go get a blooming nute I will prob go tomorow wanted to go today but i got lazy... anyway which kind were you getting?? im very scared to get 1 cause I dont know if it will be ok for my plant. tell me what you get cause ill probly get the same 1. does any brand work?? just as long as it says "BLOOM"??? ughhh im nervouse dont want her to die.

well, we have 3 confirmed females now

2 of them were of the larger ilk, and one is one of the runts.

took a male out of the room to be killed tomorrow, when i confirm the
sexuality of the last suspected male, which is still in the room, but further from the light so the confirmed chicas can bask in their glory.

then there's the sideways runt... i'm hoping it will be a female, because i'd like to see what a miniature sideways grow could yield (ala mexiblunt) lol

not sure what i'm gonna use for blooming, yet... doesn't fox farm have one, wutter? maybe i'll do some forum searching tonight to get an opinion...

yeah, he's dead now heh heh... actually, i've thinned the pack down to two plants... one of the three "confirmed" females turned out to be a hermaphrodite. but, i re-potted the two i have left into 3.2 gal pots (which are square, btw), got some durable, white plastic liner to cover the walls for a little more lumen reflection; finally lol

i will post some pics tomorrow... just two plants left at this point, but i'm hoping that the two remaining from my original 9 can actually resist the temptation to become hermies for the duration of the grow... with re-potting earlier today, i gave them their first dose of fox farm big bloom, so we'll see if they're still standing in the morning after all the stress they've been through today, which completes their 13th day in 12/12... hopefully it'll end up being the lucky 13th... lol

got myself a cloning setup, including some root hormone gel, rockwool cubes, a tray and greenhouse bubble, and a fluorescent fixture w/stand & agrobulb...

also got an assortment of square pots, so on the next grow, i am going to be tight with the re-potting schedule, and definitely sex the next batch of plants and get clones rolling. i've gotta get closer to making all of this stuff flow much more efficiently than it is so far! seems like i'm starting to get the picture...

here's a head-on shot of the room from the side- moved the co2 boost tube so that it hangs in back of the fan so it blows out onto the leaves... propped up a sort of half-wall to get some of the white plastic up on an angle in the back without blocking the flow of the fan...

my new pots... got a whole bunch to have on hand, in different sizes... had to prop one of the plants up on bricks cause it was a runt that i left in a small pot for most of the grow cause i didn't have any more big pots... figures that one would turn out to be one of the only females lol...




one more top view... all in all, they seem to be looking happy and healthy imho, for my first grow attempt, anyway lol... already looking forward to the next grow and devising my plan of attack...

NICE! new pics. so those are the 2 last survivors looks good. Do you plan on taking some clones? nice to sees those white hairs up top now huh.

are those 2 plants diffrent breeds 1 looks more indica domminante then the other. diffrent seeds? as you know im really new to the growing scene but they look diffrent. last pic the back plant looks like it has wider leaves which if im correct is more indica?

anyway looks good in 5 more days there should be a TON more white hairs.

I believe he said he got all the cloning materials, Nice girls LoveIt to bad that's all you ended up with but now you can control your girls and got some learning experince. You're plants are looking awesome and I would like to try this foxfarm, where did you purchase your nutes, can you buy at like wal mart, home deput etc or do you have to get them over the net or hydro shop?

Can't wait to see what kind of yield you end up with, Keep up the good work!

i was wondering the same thing about the strains, because they are seeds from different bags/ different dealers. this may prove to be an interesting first crop if that's the case!

thanks for the comments! i got my nutes at the local hydro store... there's nothing like it at home depot, and they're kind of pricey, but the bottles i got should last a long time.

i'm really starting to wonder what else i can do to increase my harvest potential out of these two plants at this point. i wonder if i should try to lolipop em or tie them down sideways, or if i should add some cfl side lighting or something... what do you think??

Also it would probably be a good idea to put CFL's around the sides, if you are short on space, lights or money place a few around one side of each plant and rotate the plants a quarter a day or so! You could keep track of the rotations by color code with makers or simply mark your pots with some tape, every day turn plants to the next mark, just an idea I may use myself.

HELLO ALL I AM ATTEMPTING MY FIRST GROW IN A GARAGE, AS I PREVIOUSLY SAID I GOT 10 BIG BANG FEMINISED AND 10 HIMALAYAN GOLD FEMINISED, BUT I DECIDED TO JUST START WITH SOME REGULAR SEEDS TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAVE MY GERMINATION TECHNIQUE DOWN PAT. sATURDAY I GERMINATED bout 10 seeds forgot about them and went out of town, came back sunday night, saw that the roots were long so i decided to plant them. i have a fan and a 1000 watt highps light, i took plastic and made a cubicle around my grow space which is 6x9, as i live in the northern midwest, figured the heat plus cold temps wpuld balance out, have vents in the garage ceiling. monday morning i put the seeds in 2 pots just trying something and set them outside from 7 am to about 9 pm. brought them inside and set them in the garage untill night fall. planted 5 in 1 pot and 5 in the other, turned the light on at 10 pm, and by 3 am 2 had broke soil, will include pics when i figure out how to do so. i was excited to see that it came up so quickly. today is tuesday and you can see the little leaves on them. i am using the basic mix with perlite . i dont intend to seriously try to grow them all the way out just wanted to make sure the way i germinate will work everytime, and i use the paper towel method and use room temperature
bottled water. will keep informed. i am undecided what grow my 20 feminised seeds in as soil seems to require alot of monitoring, can anybody tell me is it wise to grow using hydrotn as the medium and having the watering done by mee as i am worried about the cold temps here and the plant getting water thats too cold without investing in sophidticated heating systems for the water, and also when should i start using nutes??? ty

so do you mean the lollipop technique, where you trim the bottom 3rd of the branches? i was thinking of doing that and then using the trimmings for clones- if you kept doing this method, you'd never have to have a mother plant.

shriveling leaf... both bottom fan leaves are shriveling on this plant... it's the one that seems more indica, and is bigger, about 31 inches tall whereas the smaller sativa-like one is like 27 inches tall:





it also has some spotting on some of the middle leaves... it has been a bit warmer in the room since i added the white reflective plastic... maybe it's heat stress:





looks quite happy, though, doesn't it?!



i can't wait to start seeing some snow! hope it gets some... seems like this could actually turn into pot lol
