Flowering with Cree bulbs

now have i missed something? i thought the cree 9 and 9.5 watt a19 bulbs had 800 lumans and the floods only had about 660. is there something i missed on the floods?

Correct but I thought they were worth a try because it's a directional light and the A19 is omnidirectional and I'm relying on the hood and walls to bounce the light back to the plant. Also from my limited understanding of the subject lumens isn't the best way to measure the energy of a light,it's more about how the human eye perceives it.

Well I got 2 new things to try out for the garden today. First is the 20 watt 660 nm LED I ordered off ebay but they sent the wrong one, it was suppose to be all 660 nm but there are 4 blues and 16 reds in it so I emailed them. The second is a GreenGator odor filter and it's bigger than I remember from seeing it at the garden expo.

ok it looks like i'm in for some more reading, i haven't seen anything on the lumens, but will look for it now.

This thread has a long discussion on measuring LED light sources in terms of plant productivity. I'm sure lumens are mentioned numerous times.

let me say it in a different way, i haven't payed attention to the lumens other then the count.:) i sometimes have to read something a few times to catch it.

Yesterday started great then went into the crapper but things are looking better today. I got my two new toys then discovered the light was wrong, at 6 PM a dead tree on my property fell into the power lines and took out my power along with everyone else on my street. But today is looking up, power is back and the ebay seller sent me a email saying they would send me the right light and didn't mention sending the wrong one back. The one I got is quite usable just not what I ordered, it has 4-445 nm and 16-660 nm and I wanted all 660 nm.

Well I can see why this Chinese ebay seller has such a good rating, they respond to every email within 24 hours, even the question ones I sent before the purchase. They already gave me a tracking # for the all 660 nm light and told me to keep the other light and I only paid like $37 for it.

Just mounted the 20 watt one with 16-660nm and 4-445nm so we'll see how the deathstar likes it tonight. Here's the ebay store where I got them.

Looks awesome. How many cree globes are you running in that one now? Are you using the 730 flood light in that cab too? I still want to try the cree globes vert style. But have to wait til I stack some loot.

Good to see you back hyroot. I'm using the same # of bulbs but switched the 4 5000k's for 4 2700k's because I added 24 watts of T5 HO 7000k UV. The current set up is 12-2700k bulbs in the hood and 8-2700k bulbs for side lighting which is 190 watts of 2700k cree bulbs at 13.5/10.5 and 24 watts of T5 HO UV for 5 hours in the middle of the light cycle with 10 minutes of 10 watt 730 nm at lights out.

After 30 days this girl is really starting to build and is extremely sticky. I had to put 4 stakes around her double ring cage and wire it together because she was getting a little wobbly when I did her daily half turn and I also had to pull her side branching in with some string because they were rubbing the walls.

how is the flood light grow going? no matter which way i go on my lights for my next indoor grow, it will have some cree a19 bulbs added. it is kinda hard to walk away from the setup i have now, but i can always improve it.

It's hard to say because the deathstar was in such bad shape and is recovering very slowly. It was already a couple weeks into flower and in to small of a pot, so I just put it in a 7 gal and threw it into the tent. The new growth looks decent but it's going to be a stunted little plant I think. If it wasn't a deathstar I would probably put her out of her misery. I have another 3x3 tent coming and I'm going to share that light setup between the two tents, should only take a couple minutes to move them the way I have them setup. I have another critical kush mainlined to 8 ready for flower and should be able to tell how the lights are performing with her.

Here's a clone I took from this critical kush and she's mainlined to 8 and going into the new tent with the cree floods on Thursday when it gets here.
