For those who want to make oil at home....how about this unit.

Apparently these things work pretty well. How long it will work is anyone's guess. It's a counter top recycle vacuum heated extractor. The drawback is it doesn't make a huge amount at once and it's pricey. But you get to reuse the solvent ( alcohol ). It does it in 3 hours. Indoor use is no issue. Fresh oil daily. Use it while you make dinner...lol. Anyway look it up on the youb-tube and watch it work.....or don't and just continue your jerkin.
That's like a joke you see....laugh now...lighten up now.
Anyway not schilling...just showing case somebody might like this.

Now everyone can make oil lickety split.
I've never used one but am open to see it work. Could even be fun. Remember fun?

This unit's claim to fame is that it pulls a vacuum, so it doesn't have to get hot. It does have a heater, but it only gets warm, not really hot.

when I went to the site it shows a home still that goes with it as the first part of the process? maybe I'm wrong
Yes...a vac needs very little heat to purge.

ahh
so you could do around 500 mls or an oz's worth.. 4 grams a day isn't to bad if its real nice when its done.

I think they or someone said it takes about 3 hours to do a batch. That's not too bad. I'm not sure how much you'd get though. I wouldn't mind one to try or screw around with.

I guess you could stop it half way through and and add some more enriched alcohol. They should make a little bit bigger unit as well. I like the concept that a lay person can recover the alcohol used. You could use some nice high grade drinking kind and get most of it back. That part seems good.

says t does up to 2 oz of plant matter,,,, but from what I know you need at least 500 mls alcohol to saturate the solution with the available meds for 1 oz.

The vac process is the easiest part and you can get a bigger vac that will last and can run 24 hrs for the price.
Washing the material and filtering it is the hardest part and has nothing to do with the machine just pointing out flaws with it.

This machine is just what I am looking for. I still have not made oil due to my wife being highly concerned about my working with a flammable solvent. o_O

I was thinking about 50g of kief (first sift) if I buy one to make some high grade oil. Do you think that would work?

You could dilute your kief in grain alcohol and then proceed from there with the machine. And the nice thing is, you can reclaim your alcohol.

Yes I agree with CalyxCrusher ....seems that would work.
Yes this may be a good unit for you Zoic. Kitchen safe it would seem. There are Youtube videos of folks using them for reference.

I have had a look at a few videos. My daughter was interested in essential oils until she realized the cost. From the sounds of it this would be way cheaper in the long run.

I really like that feature for sure. Re-purposed solvent is way less expensive and less car trips to pick buy it.
Somewhere on their site is a link where you can buy lab grade ethanol and have it shipped to your house. It comes in sizes up to 5 gallon and I think 55 gallon drums (but also smaller sizes).

Prices seemed reasonable when I first looked. It's a good option if you don't live in a state where it's (grain alcohol) legal.

At one point they had a coupon code for I think 20% off. Might want to hunt around and see if there any current offers.

And lastly, this unit won't decarb. I asked them that in one of their youtube posts. You either need to do it before or after.

The only thing I noticed about the repurposed solvent was how dirty it looked...after multiple uses....
I saw it in a linked video to the products web site.
They also show a bunch of hacks on youtube as well.
