plants are looking great even the af's under the cfls
Thanks man, yeah those Diesel Ryders are stinking the place up. I wanna smoke em so bad but they wont be ready for another 2 weeks or so.

OK so the light & fan are ordered and should be here in the middle of next week. I have germinated and planted 6 Diesel Ryder autoflower seeds and 6 Apollo11/Green Giant seeds. I put all 12 plants in the cab for now, they should only be in there for another 2 weeks MAX until the mini fridge is ready. Here they are hangin with Carmen & Regina in their new temporary home.

To avoid as much confusion as possible, I have started a new thread for them. Mainly because I want to document the mini fridge setup, heres a link to it if it hasnt shown up in my sig: link

It should be a fun adventure. Oh and I killed all 4 males today, it was hard to do but it had to be done. Down to 3 females & 3 2 week old youngsters in the big fridge, and 2 female diesel Ryders and 12 seeds waiting to sprout in the cab. Ill try to keep this thread pointed more towards the large fridge since its why I started it, but Ill give little updates fro time to time on the genetic gals, or you can check my other thread out.

Id like to say thanks to all you guys that have been helping me out through this, and to anyone who had posted, or even read through this thread. I have learned so much from everyone else I am more than happy to share my experiences as well.

More pics & updates soon :)

Well, the title says it all. Apparently Beatrice (or should I say Brutus) was trying to pull a fast one on me. He started showing balls probably 4-5 days after the rest of the males. I had not seen any white hairs but I also didn't see the slightest sign of pollen sacs until yesterday so I had assumed it was a late flowering female...I was wrong :(

The only good thing about this is that it really frees up more room in the fridge, which is good considering that I have three 3week old bagseed in with them, and in about 2 weeks Ill be putting 6 more Apollo11/Green Giant in with them. I think I may have counted my chickens before they hatched when I germinated my 12 genetic seeds lol. The 6 Diesel Ryder will probably stay in my mini fridge on 20/4 while the Apollo11/Green Giants will go in the large fridge on 12/12 at just 2 weeks old.

So I now have 2 nice bushy females in the large fridge, which will also make picture taking easier so I may do a bit of that when I get home. The hairs aren't gettin crazy yet but Id say theres probably 4-12 hairs on each node. Also not much of a smell at all yet.

Peace

DAY 48

Plant Stage (Alice & Claudia): Flower [Day 18]

Plant Stage (3 Senoritas): Flower [Day 7]
Light Cycle: 12/12
Lights: 175w 4200K Metal Halide, 70w 2000K HPS, 4x68w 2700k CFLs
Medium (All Plants):
3 Parts Sunshine Mix, 1 Part Pearlite
Ferts (All Plants): 28 drops of Schultz 10-15-10 per gallon every other watering.
Strain: 2 Unknown Bagseed (Female), 3 Unknown Bagseed (Sex Unknown)

Its been a week since the last picture update of the fridge ladies, and they have changed a LOT! Ill get to the pictures because as usual its very late and Im tired bongsmilie:mrgreen:

Here is a lineup of all 5 plants that are currently residing in the fridge. Claudia & Alice in the back, with the 3 senoritas: Quatro, Cinco & Seis up front.

And now for some closeups. Here's Claudia, I have just recently tied the 2 main branches down slightly to pull them apart and allow more light to penetrate the inner bud sites.

Here's a closeup of one of her main branches. The flowers are really starting to pop up all up & down the stem.

Here's a closeup of Alice. I am going to have to stop tying anything down on her, her canopy is taking up 2/3 of the fridge space as is.

Here's a closeup of one of her main branches. The flowers are a little behind compared to Claudia but still developing nicely.

OK, here are some fridge shots. One of my damn lights fell again. Luckily it was when I had the girls out for pictures. I rigged it back up for now, I need to look into some drilling for all the lights to hang them without relying on adhesive. Here's a couple shots with lights on & off.

Lights on

Lights off. HIDs are still on.

We went shopping and worked on a few things for the mini fridge today, and more will get done tomorrow. I also put together a lovely carbon filter for the big fridge based on this DIY, here's a picture. Its funny how it looks almost exactly like the finished product in the DIY.

So that's it for now, I cant wait to see how well the budsites on Alice & Claudia take off. I hope to not have to flower them for any longer than 2.5 months but we'll see how it goes. If 1 of the 3 senoritas were a female Id be happy. Honestly if all 3 were I wouldn't have room considering I will have to move in 6 Apollo11/Green Giants in about 2 weeks :confused::confused:

Till next time

Jeeze man that carbon scrubber looks excellent! Very well put together dude, you did a great job. Keep up the good clean work:bigjoint:

edit: where did you get the batting from? I can't think of where to get that, I want to make the same one haha

Thanks for the compliments!!

I got the batting out of a $3 pillow from walmart. The ideal batting to use is the stuff you get from a hobby store as its a bit easier to work with, but the batting in the pillow worked just fine. Also, if you have an old stuffed animal laying around that needs to be thrown away, I hear the stuffing works well too.

Best of luck!

Edit: I was also unable to find 4" duct caps at any hardware store here, so I ended up going with 4" PVC caps. The only difference is that the wire mesh must go INSIDE the PVC cap instead of outside because its actually bigger than 4".

Haha that's awesome dude :blsmoke:
Did you get everything from a hardware store like lowe's or home depot? Except for the pillow stuffing and activated carbon that is. I want to get this built before my flowering plants get too big. Thanks a lot for the help man

Yep, I just went by the parts list in the DIY. I got everything but the pillow & Carbon at Home DePot. Like I said I was unable to find metal 4" caps but the 4" PVC ones worked ok. You MUST have the right size metal 6" caps though to keep the outter core nice & snug.

The pillow was $3 at walmart, and the carbon was like 5 or 6 bucks each 9oz carton. I measure my metal mesh at 10" long and it took exactly 3 of the carbon containers to fill it.

I would recommend buying carbon on eBay in bulk for like $1.99 a pound for refills. But just go to wally world if you need it fast.

Have fun, lemme know if you have any other questions

Just a quick update on my little pollinated Diesel Ryder AF girls. They are currently 54 days old and roughly 1.5 weeks from harvest. I will not harvest though if the seeds aren't nice & brown so we'll see.

Here are some pics I snapped for the autoflower thread, Ill just slap em all up so I can go to bed. I also posted them in the autoflower thread.

Carmen on the left, Regina on the right.

There is definitely a deficiency or heat problem I would say. The lower leaves look kinda crappy on both, and even some of the upper leaves. The temps got to 90F for many hours the other day so I backed the plants away form the lights and opened up the cabinet doors a bit more, hopefully that will help. Heres a pic of some of the damage to each.

If anyone knows wtf is goin on with my little babies please let me know. If its normal toward the end of their life then whatever, but seems kinda odd to me.

Thanks

I'm not positive or anything, but it looks like heat issues to me. I had a few of my leaves get the look like your top leaves and I think it was from heat in my case... but yeah... don't take my word for it or anything.

And yeah... when they are getting near the end they start putting on a bit of a show with the leaves. Might be a little un-nerving, but I like it. As long as the buds are looking right then that's all that matters (in my opinion).

I think I'm in aa noncommital mood this morning.

Top notch man. Love the carbon filter. I didn't realize diesel riders were as small and compact as they are. I wish I didn't care about my number of plants cuz those seem perfect for a CFL SOG - would never have to worry about light penetration and barely need to adjust the lights as well. Understand that these first two are for seed stock but still super curious as to what they yield.

Are you flushing the little ladies yet? I had a very nute sensitive plant that had similar symptoms. I thought it was a manganese problem due to high magnesium levels. I flushed the plant and then gave it a lose dose of nutes high in manganese low in magnesium and the plant got alot better. I'de say just flush it if you're not flushing already. My closet often gets into the 90's and the most i've noticed is alil wilting but never leaf discoloration.

Thanks for the kind words! Im very pleased with how the filter came out, and how SUPER easy it was to make. Probably $30 or less in materials, vs. $300 from CAN. As far as my litttle midget DRs are concerned, they were kept in 16oz party cups for the first month of their life and were getting pretty root bound when I transplanted them. I have seen posts where people grown them under HPS from seed and they get to be 20 inches tall or more. But obviously with the right light placement and a small enough pot, you can keep them REAL damn short haha!

Honestly, ever since my friend that gave me these plants showed me how to water, I pretty much flush my plants with every "water only" watering they recieve. When I put nutes in the water I pour just enough to start drainage at the bottom, but when its just good ol tap water I pour at LEAST 2-3 times the container volume through them. I have seen significant improvement in my ladies in the big fridge since doing it that way. I think I just had them a little too close to those CFLs, probably 1/4" at times. But yeah if they dont start looking better soon Ill look into nute deficiencies because that was my first thought too, since the lower leaves look so bad and theyre not close to the lights at all. Thanks for stoppin by, always a pleasure Tanker!! Hows the smoke treatin ya? :eyesmoke::eyesmoke::eyesmoke:

DAY 54

Plant Stage (Alice & Claudia): Flower [Day 24]

Plant Stage (2 Senoritas): Flower [Day 13]
Light Cycle: 12/12

Time for another update :) I marked the update as the day I took the pictures, which was the other day. Not much has changed other than Cuatro is for sure a male & in weed heaven by now. I will be updating my mini fridge grow as well tonight so on to the pictures.

Here is a top view of Alice, my big LST bush. There's a good dozen or more prime bud sites. I ended up taking all the branches that were growing out and bending them back at themselves. I think I borrowed that method from Tanker, "pigtailing" I believe he called it :) Works quite well!

Side view of Alice. Shes so damn big I swear, its a daily battle keeping her buds out of the damn CFLs!

Heres a good shot of Alice's largest/top bud. everything is starting to flower up nicely.

Here is a top view of Claudia. She actually has some purple & dark red hairs coming out with the white ones, I forgot to snap a shot of them though. I counted about a dozen or more on the upper buds.

A side view of Claudia. Pulling the 2 largest branches apart was a great move. There is much more flowering going on in the middle now. Still the 4 main branches though, with a couple smaller ones starting to shoot up.

A good shot of one of Claudia's top buds. Each budsite is staring to grow closer to the next. More growth here than on Alice, just by a bit.

OK and here is a shot of the girls back in the fridge. Still unsure about sex on the 2 remaining senoritas, Im hoping they are female since the male already showed.

And now for some tasty Diesel Ryder porn hehe. 3 days will be 8 weeks for them which is average harvest time. Only a few seeds on each are starting to force their way out of their pods. I figure this means at least a week or so on harvest, so hopefully it will just cause the girls to fatten up more.

The mini fridge is coming along nicely, still not quite finished though. Feel free to swing by an check it out, thread link is in my sig.

Looking good! Make sure you age your seeds a bit once you have em outa that bud. I personally don't know much about 'curing' seeds but I have found out that really fresh seeds don't have nearly the germ rate of ones a bit older.

Good advice, I never would have thought about that. I was originally given 15 Diesel Ryder seeds, Ive planted 6 and I have 4 more germinating so that leaves me with 5 seeds, so hopefully I wont need the new ones for a bit.

The reason I germinated 4 more is because I noticed all my Diesel Ryders showed sex overnight. I have 4 males & 2 females. Its amazing really, only 15 days after the seeds cracked and I know their sex. Taking 4 out freed up a lot of room and I repotted the 2 females in some 6 inch pots. It was really crazy how many balls the males had, considering I was fondling them (the plants, not the balls haha) the night before and did not see any signs of sex on a single plant. Then the next morning BOOM all 6 were showing. Balls all over the males from top to bottom, and about 6-12 white hairs shooting out the the tops of the females, just amazing!

Update plz

Hey guys, sorry its been a while work is crazy right now, its our busy season. With all the plants that I have going at various different stages, ive been watering, training, moving lights/shelves/plants, etc. so much I havent had time to take pictures. I ended up snapping some shots of my harvested Diesel Ryders and my 25 day old apollo11/green giants and diesel ryders tonight, and Ill take some of the girls in the big fridge tomorrow hopefully. I still have to water every plant tonight :)

I am posting all of the pics I took tonight on our autoflower thread if you want to see a few more. The link is in my signature.

Alice & Claudia in the big fridge are doing great, and the last senorita actually turned out to be a senorita not a senor haha! I will keep her for now but room is hard to come by in the ol fridge atm. Alice is big as ever and 2 or 3 buds have been resting on the glass for a few days now with no problems at all. Claudia's 2 main branches have at LEAST 4 times more bud on them than any of Claudia's, it makes me drool. Hopefully I will end up with a decent yield between the 2. It is very obvious that one is indica dominant while the other is sativa dominant. That should make for two very different types of bud.

Here are a couple pics I snapped tonight. I put Carmen & Regina (my diesel ryders Im harvesting), pot soil & all into the closet for 2 days to shock them. Cant tell if it really made a difference or not but they smelled a lot stronger. Afterward I cut them and hung the whole plants upside down for 2 days. The next night the wife and I sat down and clipped all the buds, heres what we came up with. Carmen on the left side, Regina on the right:

It was exactly 13.1 grams each after drying for a couple days, so I will probably loose a little more weight. Not to mention the buds are pretty airy and like 75% seeds haha! SOOOOO worth it though, I have only picked 3 or 4 little buds off, and a few seeds fell while drying and I have collected 54 seeds. I am sure i will get WELL over 100 seeds off these 2 insanely small plants. I'm sure some of you know BOG (aka: Bushy Old Grower) from OG back in the day, well I always used to admire his sense of humor and "drawings" he did with his kief, seeds, buds, etc. and I thought it would be so cool if one day I could do that with my own stuff. So for shits & tickles, I dedicate this picture to him and anyone who has learned something from him.

That was our first 100% diesel ryder joint, and it was WONDERFUL! Just dry enough to burn, and wet enough to go out after about 5-6 seconds. It tastes good but not great as its still needs to dry a bit, the high is nice & heady & lasted for a good 3 hours. Its a wonderful feeling smoking something you put so much effort into and have it be a superb high! It will only get better as the days go by & it cures.

More pics and an official update very soon to come!

Peace

Good work on all that man. I don't konw BOG, but that is a wonderful tribute to someone who has taught a bunch of people a bunch of stuff. Maybe one day some new grower will make a picture in memory of you KolorBlind for all the help and encouragement you gave them.

Definitely on the way.
