When I started my micro grow I thought that more exhaust/intake fans with huge CFM values would do the trick. During my first grow I did lots of tweaking and adding more fans was not the trick. After my first grow I found out that placement is the key. You first need to find out where your hot spots are in your grow box.

My friends have done this by using a heat spot gun (forgot the correct terminology for it), but I did this by just having the lights running and feeling around with my hand where there was a noticeable difference in heat and then placing my fans there as an exhaust. Your exhaust fans are going to be the most important in your micro grow. Just because you have exhaust fans near your lights doesn't necessarily mean that it's dissipating all the hot air; you have to find those hot spots.

Your intake fans can be placed anywhere near the bottom of the case where the air is cooler. By properly placing my exhaust fans where they needed to be I was able to drop my temperature from 104 with lights running and no A/C in the house on a 104 degree day outside down to 88 and all I have are 3 fans all together (two 80mm exhaust fans at 35CFM a piece and one 120mm intake fan at ~68CFM) with 4 26w bulbs in a 16" H x 16" L x 7" W case. At one time I've had my case riddled with holes and openings with 6 fans going and was still running temps around 96-100 prior to properly placing my exhaust fans.

Taking a look at your light placement Flaming Pie may be right by just venting the hot air from above your case. So place your strongest fan at the top of your case right in the middle as your exhaust and have two intakes on the bottom or vice versa... two exhausts and one intake like me.

In addition to that, adding a small cup of water can also reduce heat but only by a smidge and you have to constantly keep refilling it.

Hope everything goes well with your grow, I'll be subbed :)

Thanks for the response!!

Yes I figured out pretty quickly that spots in my case are hotter than other spots. Maybe I will put my current 80mm fan exhaust on the top of my box. Then replace the first exhaust with my fat ass fan. I'm not changing any fan until my fan controller gets here, which hopefully will be this week. For now I lowered my pot and placed my thermometer on my soil to see temps at "ground level". From last night to tonight it's been from 81-91. Not ideal for me so I will definitely be adjusting things.

I consider changing the fans a "weekend job" so I'll probably just change my original exhaust fan with the fat ass on a Friday and run it all Saturday and see how the temps are and add the second to the top Sunday if necessary.

But an infrared thermometer?

That's a good idea. I might need to invest in one. I would use it for making BHO also.

Thank you for the great response man I really appreciate it. Checking out your grow right now. Hope everything goes well for you too!

How many watts is that putting out? If it was slightly larger i would say that would be a perfect mother chamber for some clones...

Oh I know! Haha I thought about it because I am making a new box. However, I want to go complete stealth next time so this thing is kinda out of the question lol. However I will basically use the same shit for my future clone chamber. But I agree, the next chamber I make will be wider.

I wasn't home for my controller shipment :/. Hope I get it tomorrow.

Seeds should be here sometime soon too.

Day 13:
Plant is still growing very slow. I think it's due to the heat..the past 10 days or so it's been right under the lights and that was around 100 degrees on soil level. I lowered it by removing one paint bucket. It now been around 81-91, definitely less on the 91 side though.

Have 2 sets of leaves though.

100 degrees is way too hot. Shouldnt need more than two bulbs 2-3 inches away at this point. You really need to get that heat under control.

Already got it well under that.

Fan controller arrived so I will be installing the new exhaust fan this weekend. So I should pretty much have it under control in a few days time.

Hey so long story short have some Bodhi seeds (3 Appalachia crosses :) ) and the roof of my old piece of shit box basically started falling in so I terminated this grow.

I am planning a 150w or 250w hps complete stealth grow. I'm putting a lot of time and effort into the design so it should be really nice.

Thanks for your concern in this grow though! Be sure to stay tuned for the next one.
