Girl Scout Cookies (Freebies)

What’s up Rui family. It’s been a while since I’ve posted so I snapped some pics during feeding just for you guys & gals today.

I’m currently growing a Girl Scout Cookies fem freebie from the single seed center. Grew a few in one gal pots last go round and they were some frosty hard rocks. Unfortunately I didn’t get to smoke any of it so I decided to keep the other beans to myself.

She is under a LED. Veg she was 18-6, topped twice and flipped at about 1/3 of my tent height. She was fed tap water up until I gave in and got ph up/down and bloom nutrients. The yellowing was getting bad but I believe I have corrected it. To my tap water I add pure blend pro at recommended dose then ph to 6.3 to 6.6. She’s fed this about once a week.

I will keep this thread updated just because. If you have any questions or suggestions I’d love to engage in constructive conversation with you. I’m by no means an expert grower and don’t claim to be. I just know what works for me.

Just curious - what make and true wattage is your LED? The light looks really on the RED side. I presume that your light has a VEG switch. If so, is your VEG light on during flower?

When you have questions, you have found a great place to ask them. You'll become an expert in no time.

That's what counts.

I’m not sure the actual wattage but it’s a phlizon or something like that lol. The veg switch actually broke (switch works lights don’t) so it’s been under the flower light since about 3 weeks of life. I want to upgrade before my next grow.

Yea I want to get some Cobb lights without having to build them.
I am of that same mindset, Bro. I have averaged .7 g per watt with blurples. Pretty decent smokin' …

But those beefier yields with dense buds will require the newer tech LED's. I will be switching to one of the HLG quantum board kits. The videos I have seen make it seem like those HLG kits are not difficult to assemble.

And on the subject of HLG lights … hey there RIU community … would one of the HLG 320W V2 3000k units be overkill for flowering a 2 x 4 SCROG?

Yes this is my it’s LED as I didn’t want to drop the cash for something better. I had read about the blurples but I like to see for myself. The yields haven’t been spectacular but they definitely aren’t as bad as I thought they would be. Like I said I’ve grown this strain before and the yield and density was great enough to grow it again.

I have dialed in my tent area and would now like to see what I would be pulling with some upgraded equipment.

I just bought the HLG 100v2 3000k and it’s the best man. Hands down. I love it so much. My first grow but I’ve hopped around on lights a couple times now, slowly upgrading. For 160$ it’s great.
Would recommend anything hlg.
For your 2x4 space I’d maybe recommend two of the hlg 65s
Here’s my 2’x2’x4’ box with the 100v2

320 watts of quantum boards would crush that (in a great way). 40 watts per square foot <may> be a bit more than you need, but it's better than not enough. 320 watts of QBs are good for a pound or more if you have the skill.

How much have you been pulling out of that 4x8?

I like to believe I have the skills ...

It's only a 2 x 4 with ~400 true watts in that 8 sq. ft. area. (2 dimmable blurples only using 50% of the VEG LED's.) I am on my second grow with this set-up. I pulled 12.1 oz (337.5 g) the first time and this canopy looks identical so I'll wager another 12 oz. (I stated .7 g/w initially but that is actually a smidge higher - .84 g/w. (Not spectacular - but not horrible either.)

Here's the spectrum spread for the HLG 320:
HLG Light Spread.jpg

I can't find the Viparspectra light spread graph for their Reflector LED's. Hmmm - that could be telling!

I did see one last year. Much more blue and significantly less red/yellow. So I would still use their lights in my VEG area then flower with the 320 W HLG. I would like to think that pulling greater than 1 lb. is possible ... or am I delusional?

I’m thinking of grabbing the HLG 100 V2 3000k quantum board as the replace for this blurple. I’m in a 2x2x4.
That HLG 100 will definitely be better than your broken blurple, but I feel 95 watts is a bit on the low side to flower a 2x2. That is onlyl 23.75 watts per square foot. I would personally shoot for 30 watts or more per square foot if you can -- a quality fixture in the 140 watt range would be my choice. Maybe 2 HLG 65?

I’d go with the 2 65’s. I would have over the 100v2 but couldn’t afford it. When I have the extra $100 though..

Plants are looking great! Ive been looking at QB's for the last month. If you don't mind assembly you can get them from Alibaba.com for less. I know, it's China, but where do you think HLG comes from, lol. But I think I'm staying with COBs.

You mentioned COB's, that's what I'm using right now. I have 6 plants under it right now( you can see them in my journal) It's a 3 COB light pulls a little over 200w at the wall. I'm adding a second one for flowering next week. $129 online. Has 3 fans, makes no noise and runs cool, 92°at the COB, low to mid 80's on the rest of the lamp.

Thank you! I started out looking into the cobbs I still have some research time up until I harvest this one then I might grow the same strain under a new light to compare.

Just added a second COB light. The light penetration is awesome! I'm right around 40w per sq ft. There things are well built, cool ( full heat sink, and three fans) and quiet. For the $ you can't beat them.
