when you lollipop you trim the bottem 1/3 of the plant becuase your plants are too tall for the light you have.
Not necessarily due to light........
Some guys like to do it from their experience or hearsay that it increases main cola growth.
I just did it as an experiment, but didn't have another identical plant to do a side by side.:wall:

If my buddy who is finishing up his first go would let me snap a pic of his widow you could see the benefits of this method, bit i will respect his wishes but it really does look great for his first time aside from his deficiencies. being a fellow led user I would STRONGLY reccommend thinning out your lower growth... could do it now if you want but wait to far into the flower and you wont get the same results that he did.

Yah I think im going to do this. the top areas where more light is getting is showing more and more "hairs?" they look like thorns, then down below its really bushy with all these little shoots that have very small "thorn" (that's what im calling them) like things. So im going to take them out next watering (2days or so) do I just take out all the little things? and do I not cut at 45degree angle?

Try to cut them as flush as possible, this will limit the potential infection site, just as a precaution wash your hands and tools before you make the cuts cuz anything on the blade or your hands could get in the open cut on your plant.... I use trimmers but some people just use a razor to keep it cheap so you can just throw it out after each use. oh and I believe pistils is the word you are looking for lol, but thorns works too I guess.

only reason i would do it is if my plants were too tall, and light didnt get to the bottem at all.

Have you ever grown eith leds? If not then you do not get why your statement is so funny.... Anything below the first 5-6 nodes is pretty crappy looking compared to the main colas, thats y it is best to just focus your growth to the colas.

Hmm ok so you know how there are all 4 different height/sizes? at this moment I think I only need to thin out the major big one. The other 3 (the very small one I transplanted to a 3gal a week ago jumped in size very nicely but doesn't need to be thinned at all) and the other 2 are slightly stretched? should I just thin the bottom off as well? Does this create more bud sights up higher or just more concentrated THC wise ect?

Not so much bud sites appearing but calyx growth (the green part around the pistil/thorn) will be more concentrated towards the top of the plant. , meaning your buds will be thicker and fuller at the top. Thc is genetic, can pretty much only reduce the present level, can not increase thc per say except for supplementing with uvb so the plant produces more resin to protect itself. Sounds like you got a decent plan in mind and then you will be able to see the effect since you arent gonna do em all. i would think about putting the lil guys ob some lil platform to reduce future stretch to catch up to the big guy but if they are all different heights then differnt heights are needed obviousluly. Somthing to think about....

Gotchya. I have yet to see an actual calyx yet. The leafs with the Pistils seem to be opening up today and I peered in on my big one and it seems like very very very VERY little calyx's in there. N I thought THC % was genetics but I know growing conditions effect everything so I figured THC% can be affected as well. I have an idea, thanks to my help here on RIU! :) but its a sketchy one, im most likely going to take pics of my big one the night before I water and post em up here and see what you guys think on what I should take out. or since I haven't seen any calyx's yet and im already on week 2 of flower am I fucking up my plants leaving the little growth on there every night?
I think I ended up getting about 1 oz from the one, not what I wanted, but being an experiment, the expectations weren't too high.
pfft DAMN! that's quite nice my friend!!

Oh I'll give ya a calyx....
Hard to see through the pistils and sugar, but they are there if you look hard enough lol.
EDIT: Shit bro I was just looking back at your pics on my comp, been only using my phone a lot lately, and you got something going on with your nutes. How often you feeding em? And how high do you have your lights at now?And as far as cutting or not, I have heard and seen on youtube (check out grow420guide, pretty beginner stuff, not an endorsment for the guy though, have seen some conflicting stuff but it is good place to start for youtube) of people cutting at 2 weeks to force bud growth to the top, I try to do it earlier so no nutes/energy are ever wasted on the lower stuff.

Shit I can see little ones in my plants!! And they are quite high to be honest like 30-32" from bottom of pot. And I didn't know you were SUPPOSSED to start flowering nutes on day 1 of 12/12 so I haven't got to give them any blossom fert. They were still getting grow big but I'm stopping that next watering n shit I'm about to be at two weeks so looks like that's what technique ill be doing

Ya they look a lil dark from the N too me but now that you are in bloom take it easy for a sec, then you start to push em once the budding really starts. Atleast that is what I do and it seems to help avoid burn, they try to account for this a lil in FF scheduling but it is hard since every mj strain not mention plant type feed differently. Thats cool that you measure from the bottom of the pot but that aint the important one, if you have it too close to the canopy that lens will start to cook your lil gals, youre taller ones are having some leaf twist is the only reason I mention.....

Yah I thought it was a little dark!! atleast I know. well I haven't fed last watering and this watering im going to just give big bloom&tiger bloom (small dose) and see how she does. and yes indeed this strain although it is my first time seems like it feeds off nutrients everytime I feed it it booms. But yah I was wondering why it twists like that!? but they are at most 4-5" away. but I don't think its the lighting making it twist??

Looking good bro, that bottom on the biggun looks all clean and proper now way to go! When it comes to pruning never take more than a 1/3 of the foliage off at one time, so it is better to do 2 lil prunes than one big or the foliage might not make enough exudates to keep your roots alive, if you can find the happy medium to see the explosion of growth from freeing up some of the nutes for the top to the bad side of trimming where everything is stunted and essesntially stops growing.

Don't worry too much man, I usually go 2-3 weeks in and keep with the veg feeding just to keep the N up.

Thanks man from all the fat ass nugs ive seen here on RIU im thinkin mine is goin slow! but then again every morning I can see the calyx's getting bigger. Also im already starting to see what I think is THC!~!~@~@~@~~!!!!!! I swear im already seeing some pack on?? im so excited!!!! im just happy they are flowering and that I didn't stress them to males! they could be hermies but still crossing fingers!!! lol Yah dude I think they did because this morning the top nugs really swelled up. Those pics they were the size of dime-nickels now the tops are almost quarter sizes! and every day I have to raise my light 1-2" because there stretching! this is normal "flower" stretch right? all just dependent on genetics/light/setup as to how much the stretch will go? im guessing this GSC is a lot Sativa. The others that I didn't "lollipop" have really weak looking flowers growing. The Pisitl locations are a lot further apart on them than on top of the plant. They already look "airy" should I lollipop or just say fucks it

You might get another week or so of stretch........
Most of the time I finally see it slowing down and leveling off about end of the third week for me.
