Grow Room SIZE ?????

Only 1 oz. per plant in a 6 square foot grow space ?????? That is disappointing. Looks like desertrat will get way more than 1 oz. per plant and he is using the same space as I am intending on using. Maybe the pics are deceiving.

thatd be 3-5oz total, not per plant. about 1oz per plant depending on how many plants and what style grow.
you could fit 6 plants in 8-10inch pots with a little bit of room to move.

Sounds like you will need something just over 2 lb per year. If you can use your aerogarden to veg for short periods of time you could make this happen through perpetual harvest. You can get a harvest every 2 months of 2-4 oz. (or more) using 1 250w. Try to get 4-6 small plants vegged to about 6-8 in. into the closet once these are done flowering try to have another 4-6 ready to go into the flowering room (closet) to replace the ones you pull out. Unfortunately to keep this up you will either need a constant supply of seeds or a mother plant. Mother plants are kept in veg state permanently and you would only need one at a time and they can be constantly pruned and don't need a whole lot of space or light, so if you can find a way to either get a light tight box to keep in the top of your closet or somewhere else in the room you should be fine. This would be how I would do it, because it will be very hard to get that much yield in that space in only 1 harvest. If you have any more questions throw them out there or you can pm me, good luck once again.

If you read the info on the first page you will also realize that he is running 1 600w lamp and has done his homework plenty. If you are willing to spend the time and most importantly MONEY you can manage to get quite a bit out of your space but unless you want to deal with the cost of a 600w lamp, bulb, ventilation, not to mention the electric bill, you won't be seeing the same results as desertrat. However you still can pull off quite a feet with what you have using smaller wattages and avoiding a lot of heat issues. Just take it slow as your first grow and you will learn along the way what you need to accomplish this task. Growing this shit isn't rocket science but getting steady quality results ain't easy either it takes a lot of time and even more patience.

Thanks regrets for all the info and help. I AM willing to spend the money to do it right but I want to start out as simple as I can until I learn what I need to know to progress into bigger and better, I don't want to jump right in and buy a 600W or a 100W light and start at it. If my first grow is a suiccess and is worth it then I may step up when I get more knowledge at doing it. I DID take horticulture in high school for 4 years but that was 22 years ago so I am not completely clueless, lol. I did see that rat was using a 600W lamp and I have even read through his journal twice now, I have kept up with his grow. The scenerio of vegging in the aerogarden and flowering in the closet is my exact plan BUT I do not have anywhere to keep a mother plant, I'll have to work on that. The closet has a shelf in it, I MAY be able to keep a mother plant on the top shelf, hmmmmm, something else for me to study. Thanks again regrets, you've been a big help. ++reps given to you sir.

i hope no one considers me the gold standard for growing. this is only my first grow although i had the benefit of watching several grows of (gulp) my younger son.

but i am counting on at least 2 ounces per plant (.5 gm/watt using half of the usable space for a 600) with a stretch goal of 4 ounces. i should do better next time since i've started with 8 seeds and hope to have 4 females.

Dirtbmw - i answered your question in my journal

Dirt, Just get some flouros or cfl's and a small fan. Buy some lowrider ak47 seeds and give it a go. Small plants, very easy to grow and you get a pretty decent smoke. 70 days total...seed to harvest. 5-7 days drying, couple weeks curing in mason jars and your done. Its about the simplest and cheapest way to go.

Dirt...You can get a good O from each ak47 and you can also fit a bunch into that space. Polloniate a female branch and get a bunch of seeds to keep it going. 18/6 throughout the entire grow. Flouros will give you no heat, way cheaper elec bill and more growing space because your plants can grow up to and even touch the bulbs. Keep it cheap, make mistakes during this learning experience and graduate up to the more $$$ set ups.

OK....maybe not the "gold" standard but you're definitely an inspiration to my project.

Thanks Boneman. I will most likely go with some cfl's and a small fan for the first go around and keep it simple just like you and most others are suggesting. lowrider ak47 huh ??? hmmmmmm. I'll have to look into that. Thanks man. :blsmoke:
