i was just curious, like the landlord can come in your apartment at any time that he wants right? can he search through your shit also? like if you were growing but in a bunch of closed boxes, can he open them?

I'm just gonna take a stab at this one...
It doesn't matter if he can look inside or not, if he's suspicious you are growing (and he's not informed on how harmless marijuana is) he might report you to the police. Now, that's real problem...

i don't know where you are but i'm in massachusetts and i know a lady whose landlord came in when she wasn't home claiming he smelled gas. her dog bit him and he sued her and won. no gas leak was ever reported or confirmed, and he was not reprimanded by the judge for entering the apartment. landlords cannot just waltz in whenever they want, though. there generally has to be an emergency or other urgent type circumstance unless this scenario is specifically spelled out in a lease.

pretty sure he can't go rummaging through your shit but unless you have a nanny cam running you'd never even know or be able to prove it.

A landloard can't just enter whenever he wants to legally anywhere I've heard of.. Here they can enter in an emergency like flooding etc, and can enter for planned work with 24hrs written notice.. Aside from that, they cannot enter without your permission unless they just get away with it..

thats's what i thought. check your lease agreement though. should be laid out pretty clear in there.

For the same reasons you're considering ignoring a law, so do they ... not justifying the action, just mentioning that law or not, people tend to do as they please.

Years ago I had a grow in my apartment, way before mj was legalized as medicine or anything. I was at work and the landlord...an older guy but cool, had to come in for something, I don't remember. Next day or so he told me that there was gonna be an inspection of all units, I think from a potential buyer. He said I might want to move the plants elsewhere during the inspection.

He and his wife were cool, they were in their fifties and most of us that lived there were in our twenties, but every now and then they'd be having some liquor and tokes with some of us

Even if the lease says they can, it may be unenforceable.. Lots of leases contain unenforceable clauses..But again, laws only mean something if they're obeyed.. You might want to look into changing the lock, and setting up webcam surveillance etc..

well maybe not a gun just a bucket full of shit above the door to the room you grow in so when the fuker opens the door he will not go back in there.

Little story about growing in apartments.....

Back in college I had a two bedroom apartment, and made one room a nice grow. I had a batch of Mikado from Federated Seeds I got from Marc Emery's seeds going, looking nice. Anyway, I was working 50 miles away one day and got a call on my cell, and I was way up on a ladder.

The message left was my property manager saying she needed an apartment to show, and since I was moving out that year, she wanted to show it.....said they'd just be in and out.

I didn't have the door on the grow locked.......I can only imagain their faces LOL.

I called a lawyer that I knew real well, and he said to move my entire apartment in one night, cause the cops might have a warrant in the morning....

It was a long night of killing my plants, and having to move by myself all night. I wrote a check for the last months of my lease, ran over to the office, and put it in the mail slot and never went back.

That was my get out of jail free card....

lots of people do now though.

Did the lawyer elaborate on why you should move out entirely that quickly instead of just removing all evidence from the apartment??

"Get everything you own, move it out tonight, and don't go back....." that was the jist of the conversation ;). I just listened....I stayed free thats all I know. I would have been in a little trouble.

if it's stipulated in your lease a landlord can come in at anytime your not there. if not he must give you notice unless there is an immediate danger within the apartment. just to be on the safe side put a lock on the door that you plan on growing in; he can only breach your apartment door, not the rooms within it. hope that helps.

Does no one care that your preforming a illegal activity on someone else's property. If you busted his property can be tied up for a great deal of time. Costing this landlord a lot of money. If I where your landlord and I found you growing on my property, You'd be lucky if all I did was put your shit on the side of the road. Illegal, HELL YEAH, there would be nothing you could do about it. Fuckin' with someones living there.
This is some else's property.
