Old school soil mix: 50/50 FF original and FFOF

My current mix: 50/50 FFOF and Canna Bio

Straight FFOF has burned many clones so I cut it with the canna and the girls LOVE me for it.

WOW, I am so confused, maybe it’s the smoke. I have thought of using both of these products, but for various reasons I never actually have. Maybe it’s because of discussions like this. Way too much information and differing points of view, all of which seem to be valid. I have been using a home made mix. I stole this recipe (or most of it from a post a few years ago), I deleted some hard to find or what I felt weren’t needed additives. Ever since I have never had a soil related issue, take a look at it and see what you think?

4 gal local soil (from summer garden- sterilized)
4 gal compost (roughly 75% plant / 25% manure)
4 gal perlite
3 gal sphagnum moss
1 gal
worm castings

2 cup bat guano (11-4-1)
1-3/4 cup greensand (0-.15-.6) (can be hard to find)
1 cup bone meal (6-12-0)
3/4 cup kelp meal
1/2 cup dry molasses
1/2 cup
lime

Mix in a large trash can, add water, and stir daily. I like to wait about two weeks to allow a true mixture of all components. For me this makes enough soil for 2-3 cycles. The stored soil seems just as good as freshly mixed, just seal up the container.

That's because there's no silver bullet when it comes to growing. There are at least a million different soil recipes and combinations of bagged soils. It's all about experimentation and finding what works best for you. :weed:

wow this thread is getting hot haha...

I decided to start off the seedlings with a mix of Light Warrior and Ocean Forrest... and then plan to transplant them into a hotter soil mix consisting of... Ocean Forrest, MG Organic, Perlite, Blood Meal, Bone Meal, and Dolomite lime.. Feed with distilled water and molasses

My seedlings are loving the mix so far... my journal is in my sig if anyone wanted to stop by and take a peek.. maybe leave a comment if your up to it =)

Thanks again,

That's an interesting mix. I used to mix my own but I'm too lazy to mess with it these days. Nice lookin' plant/s, BTW! :weed:

I am using a mix of the OF and HF add tons of pearlite and also put some rocks or hydroton at the bottom of your pots cuz this stuff retains water like its going out of style.
