Huh. I got their penetration RIGHT HERE!

Have you ever finished a plant under de lamps? I checked your sig, that thread is alot of hot air or other members pics.the few pics you post every 10 or 20 pages look scorched lol.but i see you in this section constantly bashing hps in favor of cobs.seems like i read somewhere you were all hot for some lame allstart lamp at one point? Im trying to leaf my way through the led section here and a few of you speak in absolutes yet you have absolutely nothing to back it up.its very confusing

You grow your way, I'll grow mine then. See you in the funny papers.

hey six string what do you think about a side by side with 3x 300W (at the wall) cobs and the usual 1150W DE?

cobs hung high with a nice deep even canopy below them, HID style?
i think you would want 4 cobs just for even coverage, like 4 x 200w-225w spced about 16 to 18in apart in a square shape.i have one now @75w each thats 23 in apart and square and its doing nice work

HI LED GUYS
Way to distract attention away from my challenge, let's all start talking about UV
fact is NO ONE is willing to put up or shut up!!
you can steal that @ttystikk

Lol

I don't know, I grow both ways and I say...

Here's a day 25 shot from my vero 29 4000k, its denser, frostier and fatter than my second gen clone of the same strain that got vegged longer in a 4x bigger container and is under a 1000w at another location. And my second n 3rd gen shit is usually twice as retarded as from seed, but this is au contraire my friend

Plus, Can't push 6" heights and penetrate with the 1000w as easily as I can with my cool ass actively cooled diy panels

Plants seem happier metabolism wise and terpene profiles develop faster as well

They seem to be able to finish a week earlier cause they jus start loading resin from get go

Pretty amazing considering my plants almost died while vegging on a recent vacation

Same results as I'm seeing from my COB LED.

You can't grow a 6 foot plant with a 1000w hps? wtf I can grow a 6 foot plant with a 600w hps..... where did you guys learn to grow I don't understand wtf is wrong with you guys that these LEDs are making such a huge difference, I run both LEDs and HID lights , I don't see this gigantic difference you guys are talking about.

I can grow a 6 foot plant with a cfl or t5 light, lol

I actually meant one cannot push 6 inch heights (of the lights) from plants as easily as one can with cooled cobs

The more intense the single unit the further you can put the plants from it(law of the inverse square), so one diode running at 1000w will be able to be placed ten times higher than a diode running at 100w. Therefore, a 1000w HID light can be placed higher than COB's because they have less initial value. That's why it's recommended to put a 1000w HID light at least 24 inches above your plants. The light is just too intense in that area, unlike cobs which lack intensity so need to be closer to the plants which in turn reduces the footprint of the light. HID lights are superior to the current LEDs in the coverage department.

The trick is to find proper optics and tune the setup to your particular space with the COB's. My DIY lights are as far away as my HID's were.........

That means you are really lowering their coverage and PAR ratings, reflectors kill LEDs, they absorb light and also have losses , much higher losses than HID ones, they are basically some of the newest tech on the market and definitely have a LONNGGGG ways to go before they are working as intended. I believe someone on this very forum measured PAR with and without reflectors and saw a dramatic drop off with the reflectors. They also will cause extreme hot spots.

what is it are they to intense or dont penetrate enough?

We can all test and see what happens correct? I have not seen any test per say with the particular reflectors I purchased and the grows with them have been successful. I am running Khatod Silicone Lenses. I'm pushing my cob's @2100mah and both bars can dim individually. When you push the COB's soft you need to get close not the same when you go 70 watts plus on them. I have 8 COB's covering 1/2 a 5x9 for the time being we will soon see how they perform but so far I am very content with the coverage and spread of the light with the bars hanging 40" above the canopy................

Very intense in a very small area , which leads to lack of intensity in numerous spots, its like shining a flashlight on your plants some areas will get a beam of light others will be in the dark. Guess you guys don't understand how LEDs work yet, they are best without the reflectors and low to a canopy that's really tight like on a scrog.

so you hang more its not that hard to problem solve...
what about all the 100w+ cobs out now still no good?
