Health Canada Response to PPL Application

Hi all

New here but wanted to share some info on PPL applications

I sent my PPL application into HC on the 27th of December and today (January 30th) I received a response saying that my application was not accepted due to the doctor not signing and dating underneath the 'ORIGINAL' stamp

This is the only reason that my application was not accepted and I thought I would share this with others so that they can make sure that this part of the application rules are adhered to

In my case a simple phone call and setting up a meeting with the doc will take care of this issue, however I know many out there are in more of a convoluted situation so I thought providing this little snippet of info would help alleviate some stress .... Good news is it only took them 5 weeks to get back to me

Good luck to you all

Apparently so ... In order for my application to be accepted the doctor has to sign and date under the 'ORIGINAL' stamp

No big deal, just delays my PPL a month or so ... I thought that letting others know about this might help with their applications not being refused seeing as if the doc signs and dates under the stamp then all is good

The big take away from this is it only took 5 weeks which is quite surprising

To all, be sure your doc signs and dates under the 'ORIGINAL' stamp ... If you have done things correctly and your doc does this then you should have no issue as well as hearing back from them within 6 weeks (as I was informed would be the case from HC)

When you send in your application and it is not accepted (HC is by law not allowed to 'refuse' an application ... they can only not accept it), you will receive back the documents that you sent with an additional page containing a checklist and it will indicate (via a check in a box beside whichever criteria) the reason the application was not accepted

See photo ... As far as I can understand the doctor needs to sign directly underneath the 'ORIGINAL' stamp otherwise it will not be considered an original

Stupid, I know ... However there are many who can fake the exact same doctors form that I sent in with a computer and a bit of knowledge ... It prevents fake applications and currently is the only way for HC to know for a fact that the form is not counterfeit (don't take this as me being an apologist, however you can't blame them for taking this route as there are quite a few scammers of the medical system out there)

Anyways, a photo of the form I received should be visible in this post ... There are hoops to jump through and, like it or not, them must be jumped through in order to get your PPL

Having to start over is another barrier to access...you now have to get in line or back in line with all the other "applicants" and wait your turn....and you're absolutely right-there are a lot of scammers of the medical system out there....I can pick up pretty much anything I want in Whitehorse from Naproxen and Valium to the good stuff..morphine...and I can probably pick the size of the tabs.

So to all

I started this thread to provide information ... not for dissent

Please take your screaming about Harper and the government, or whatever beef you have and complain in the multitude of threads that are out there for that purpose

This thread has an actual purpose other than to provide a place for whining

It's funny how they can deny in a month but it takes 3 to approve..
I don't know where you are getting your info but that is just wrong

Should take up to 6 weeks, no more ... I have heard this from a few sources not to mention my doctors who I happen to see on a weekly basis

Back in line? .... that is not how it works

I go to my doctor on Wednesday, get a new form, get it signed and then I send my application in ... takes a week by regular mail to get to Ottawa and 3-4 weeks to process it

Middle to the end of March and I'll have my new green slip ... still got my pink and still got my garden since everyone is still covered by section 7 sub-paragraph 56 which states that a person has the right to reasonable access to prescribed medication

Personal experience tells me you are looking at 8-12 weeks not 3-4.

Yes, they are right, your 3-4 weeks is a hallucination.
Im currently waiting on my secound regestration, my first was sent back due to medical certification even though he did sign it and stamped it and asked it be taken as an original
my regestration has been in there hands for the secound time for 11 weeks now...
they are a barrier to access themselves, that is there interest, my first regestration was in and out of their office in 2 days. Same shit, new perscribtion and its been 11 weeks.

Well there must be something that is holding it up since the 5 people I personally know (quite well mind you) each recieved their green slip within 7 weeks of it being sent from the GTA

This coupled with HC receiving my application on the 4th of January and having it processed on January 25th goes against what I have been reading here

I take real life experiences over what the internet says any day of the week

I will report back when I send in my forms (I see my signing doc on the 16th of February) and then we will see what is what

and you are doing this because? (:
I'm doing this so my new landlord doesn't lose her house since if by chance coppers show up they can seize all of her property regardless of if she knows about my garden or not

I can tell you for a fact it took 8 weeks plus 2 days from the time my application was received by hc to the time I received the approval. That was back in December. Ive heard that they are even more delayed but that's anecdotal.

But by the tone you've taken with your previous posts it appears you know more than me and likely everyone else here. Let me know when that chip is off your shoulder. I suspect that'll take 8-12 weeks to happen though ;)
