Help on my first diy strip build

I have both the F series Gen 3s and H inFlux_L06 strips with lm301b both are great strips. I prefer the H influx strips better. But either choice is a good choice. If your only using it for veg and or mothers no reason to spend big money on strips. Arrow has their Bridgelux Eb series gen 2s on sale for 5 bucks a piece. Get 10-15 of them and a driver. Run them @typ. Save yourself a few bucks.

Have a good look at cutters web before you buy cause they have some really nice gear not available anywhere else. But shipping can be a bit steep unless youre close to Australia or get 500aus $ for free shipping.

I was looking at building a light for veg.

if i buy 10 x the 2` bridgelux, which driver would be optimal and at max output what would max wattage be?

wondering how many strips i would want to cover a 4x4 veg area.

i Am ordering the H-influx for 2x 600w builds for the flower room, had alot of help getting that material list figured out, was hoping you could steer me in the right direction.

I agree, no point spending big money on expensive strips for veg room if the cheapies will do.

You're gonna need double the amount of strips using 560mm. I would go with atleast 20 of the 2 footers for a 4x4 area. Plus buying 20 you get another price break for buying so many.

Edit: you will be happy with the H inFlux strips. I love mine. I like the f series too. But the H inFlux_L06 strips I got just look better. More diodes per strip too. You'll fall in love with them. I promise.

.ca isnt giving me a deal on 20...

i can buy 1 strip for 10.01 cad or i can buy 50 and get them for 9.64cad each lol

Ya i had another thread here getting some help choosing which parts to buy, most suggested the f-series or h-influx..i chose the influx. the 600h-48a drivers are on backorder tho, so trying to find alternatives for that aswell.

What will total wattage of 20 x 2` strips be max?

maybe the question i should ask is, what is the max output of the bridgelux strips? i can do the math from there lol

The 2 footer say 700mA max. But I people are pushing alot more on them. Few people said 2400mA is max. Bridgelux underrates them but I dont think that much. But with good cooling. You could push 1700mA through em safely. At 20.5v so 34.85w per strip ×s 20=697w total and you have 16 sqft that equals out to 43.5w per sqft. And you could probably dim them down for vegging. But that way you got extra juice if you wanna crank it for flowering too .

Edit sry the 560mm are 1400mA max. So with good sinking I'd push them at 2.0a per strip. At 20.5v

any advice or preferences on a driver for such a setup? 600h-48 is on backorder, is there other decent brands?

or could i just go with 2 x 320h-24a?

i am still new to this led stuff, i know more today than i did yesterday, but alot of this stuff is still just numbers that look like chinese to me lol

Yeah I'd go with multiple drivers. I always try to run parallel over series. Bc I dont like using high voltage circuits in tents and around water and whatnot. In series your always gonna have high voltage usually 200+ on bigger lights. If you run them at 20.5 each you need a driver that will run an output of atleast 410vdc using one driver. Get the A type drivers as well bc they give you a little bump in power. Like 8%ish over b type models.

One more question, i promise lol

so would you do the same with the H-Influx builds for my flower room?

rather than run the 600h-48a, would 2 x the 320h-24a work ?

I am trying to place my order, but the 600h is sold out, looking for replacement(s)

2 foot/560mm Bridgelux gen-2 are 19.5V at the nominal current of 700ma, so you need a 20 or 24v driver, not 48v. Isn't this for a 5x5? If so, I suggest 4ft strips, those are 39V.

There was a lot of "noise" in your first thread, maybe start another, something like "Best price for a 5x5 strip build in Canada?"
Don't rush into buying, it takes time to absorb all the info! Strip prices fluctuate and Arrow has some good sales, it often pays to shop around.

This is actually a veg light I'm questioning right now.

I have everything ordered for the 5x5 flowering lights from the other thread lol. You guys were so much help, thanks very much.

I Went with the h-influx strips and 2x 600h-48


Now I want to build a cheaper version for veg.

Meanwell driver pricing is really pretty much the same, Amp for amp.....There are a few "jumps" from one size to the next, mostly on the BIG ones....but it aint that far off....If you understand the V requirement of your emitter, and the total amperage of the drivers output, you can match em up any way you want....
The 240 size is my go to.

Ill be honest, at this point i still dont understand much regarding this technology . Just been going off what other guys , like yourself having been helping me with.

I am hoping to have these fixtures built and running within a couple months from now, so the plan is to try and learn HOW they actually work before then lol, atleast be able to understand it better

He can use the 48v if he groups them in series of twos then back to the driver in parallel. But that creates alot more wiring series parallel is the best circuit design ever. But hard to understand. I agree with you on going with a small voltage driver.

You wont regret getting the H inFlux_ strips. I like both f series gen 3s and H inFlux_. But I like the influx just a tad better. Hard to explain. But they seem to have a better light over the f series.

They were on back order by time I hit the button lol sigh.

Back to square one.

I can still go with the f series but it goes against my being to spend that kind of money knowing there's already tech that's better lol

Yesterday I came across 1k gavitas for very good price, they looking like a much easier solution lol . Eat the electric costs for the next year or two and then see where the leds are at then.

Was looking at building a veg light tho. 400-600 watts, you mentioned earlier the bridgelux strips , they were cheaper and good enough for veg?
