Hey, this is my first grow. ill be using 8 27 watt daylight cfl's for vegging and ill probably be buying a 600 watt hps for flowering. right now i have one sprout and 4 unsprouted seeds under 2 27watt daylight cfl's . i germinated the seeds using the paper towel and sandwich container for 2- 3 days and planted them when the root was about 3/4 of an inch long. my one sprout looks very unhealthy and droopy and the stem is very skinny and dry. ive been misting the sprout and unsprouted pots once or twice a day. what am i doing wrong? please help quick! I dont want my seedlings to die!

I had the same problem.... you have too many lights on the seedlings.... I used 4 till the stem was strong... How many fans are you running? I 'm new also, so hope I could help....

treeman,

i'm new too, so take this help with a bit of salt. i sprouted my nl#5 under 3 26w cfl, so 2 26w should be ok. when you say skinny that probably means tall and thin. either your temperature is too high or the cfl's are too far away. pics are helpful if possible.

sorry to hear that, not sure what happened, sounds like you watered ok
most RIUers seem to put their cfl's at 2 inches or closer to the plant. some seedlings do die, no one bats 100 percent

ok first of all u can never have to much light for a seedling.......how would they survive an outdoor grow???? i also have 10 23w CFL's on 4 seedlings.....growing strong.......u may be watering to much and your seedling can't breath......if all doesn't go good just start another seed....depending on heat seedlings only need to be watered every 2 days sometimes 1....

yes there is your problem right there......cannabis roots take in the oxygen......Co2 is absorbed above the soil therefore you need to foliage feed with sparkling water....NOT WATERING THEM.

treeman i wouldnt say over watering is the problem if you were just misting a couple times a day unless u were drowning them. first whats the soil, second whats the ph and third whats the temps. i know the amount of lights are fine. when i do seedlings i use cups fill them half way and put in a seed maybe two. by the time its almost on its true set of leaves i can add more dirt to strengthen the plants roots, get something mild divoted to early root growth its the start of a healtht grow. when they a couple of inches maybe three i put them in to square pots. and in two weeks under 3 42watt cfls i will have 9-10 inch plants ready for flower.

i think there was a ph problem up until yesterday. i was using carbonated sparkling water to water the plants. i realized this was drowning my plants by not letting the routs get oxygen and i think i was severly underwatering them.(i was only giving them 15 squirts from a spray bottle on mist daily) i bought some distilled water last night and am giving the plants about 20 ml daily on mist. please let me know if im doing anything wrong

treeman go to lowes garden they have them for just ph or ones with light and moisture on it also. personally i dont care to much for the misting thing i just water lightly like normal because i want the roots to go deep and i dont think misting is going to get the same penetration as pouring it on and waiting for some drainge just a little so i know it got all the way down then i let them dry out pretty good so the roots have to search alittle for water. just my opinion. keep that ph around 5.5-6.5 the closer to 6 the better i find. u need some ph up and down.

normaly from distilled water it is at 7 ph to high need it lower around six and if ur soil has alot of bark in it will be hard to keep it low.

seedings have shown nearly no growth and are yellowy and droopy . im using toothpicks to hold them up because the stems are too weak to support themselves
