a new company is taking over the contract i work for and they are banning any head ware , except we have a rasta guy who works for us and hes being allowed to keep his dreads in one of those cool hats they wear ,on religious grounds .
i have been told i cant wear my baseball cap , i allways wear a cap as i was blessed with the worst hair any human could possibly suffer .the thing is im an athiest and dont believe in any god , so why is it if i believe in a god i can wear what i want ? do i have to pretend to be a rasta to be allowed the privelage of head wear ? is this even legal what the company is saying ? why as an athiest my rights are somewhat less than a fairy tale believers ? im relly pissed off with this and i have told my ,manager i will remove my baseball cap when the rasta guy removes his head gear ( btw i have nothing against rasta guy he is soundest guy i have ever known and totally supports me ) :leaf:

That's bullshit man. Religion has no place at work. There are a lot of things we keep seperate from work and our private lives. Religion is one of em. If you want the job you shouldn't be allowed to say I'm not gonna follow company policy because my religion says so. I'm an atheist as well so where's my special treatment? If I go to work tomorrow and tell them my new religion requires me to smoke weed and I need 3 weed breaks a day am I gonna get em? Fuck no. Leave your beliefs at home.

I wouldn't throw the other guy under the bus like that, but it' cool that he understands your point of view. What's wrong with your hair? Are you balding or do you have a medical condition? What kind of setting are we talking about? Hats don't seem appropriate in some circumstances but in others they actually offer more than simply hiding your head.

it shouldnt matter , if you are ok with someone wearing full head wear because they believe in a certain god , you then cant say a certain person cant wear head gear cause he dosent believe in the other guys god ,where does it end ? my religion says beards are banned , so anyone sporting a beard cant work for the company ? you simply cant discriminate , my veiws maybe that im thought less of in comunimity if i dont wear a head covering , just because this isnt a religious veiw dosent make it any less important than an athiests veiw

It's this simple. If the company you work for has a no hat policy, then you have to follow that policy. If they allow religous head wear then that's their call. If you really want to wear a hat research and find some idiology you think offers the best in head wear options, and tell the people you work for that your god requires you to wear said head wear. Problem solved

so your totally ok that , if i choose a certain mythical story to believe i can wear head gear , if i choose to think for myself and take a stance of non belief im subject to there strict head wear rule ? , so ok today i found the rasta religion and today i started growin my dreads so today im allowed to cover my head , is that ok in your rule book ?

I feel ya man I do. Unfortunately they want to be assholes about it forr some reason. Isn't that company in the business of deliveries or something? Seems like an industry I would say hats woulld be appropriate LOL. Problem for you is that unless you want to sue them for descrimination and lose your job over something as ridiculous as a hat you pretty much just have to suck it up.

no sorry ill challenge any company who discriminates against people who dont believe in a certain mythical being , what if zeus said its ok to wear head gear ? just coz zeus has died out it dont make it any less believable than the rasterfarian religion .if its ok for one religion to wear herad gear then it should be ok for anyone no matter what religion they believe in or what religion they dont believe in , does it maker it any more dangerous to wear a hat in the work place wether i believe in the bogey man or wether i dont believe in the bogey man ?

i just want to wear head gear wether i believe in jesus allah or the acient zeus . i

dont see that it matters if i believe in a mythical being or not , it dosent make the wearing of head gear any safer if i believe in a rasterfarian god ?
