I voted for him and still support him. It's not because I thought that things would change overnight, but because I thought he was most likely to slowly steer us back in the right direction on healthcare reform, civil liberties, foreign policy and fiscal policy. So far, I'm pleased with the progress. Let's see how things go the NEXT THREE YEARS OF HIS TERM. It seems like you guys forget that from time to time.

The one thing I am a bit pissed about is that he keeps making light of the cannabis issue whenever it comes up. I can understand that with everything else this is one fight he doesn't need to be picking with the republicans right now ("the president is weak on crime and drugs, blah, blah, blah") but I do feel like he could at least not treat the issue like it's some kind of joke.

And seriously, to all the people bitching about how he's not doing enough for MMJ and how it's all smoke and mirrors: can you tell me what john mccain's position was on MMJ? Do you know what would be happening to dispensaries if the republicans had won in 2008? Because if you don't understand by now that most conservatives aren't interested in anything to do with marijuana, whether medical or recreational, you might be terminally retarded.

Yes, if sarah palin or mitt romney become president in 2012 we will definitely see legalization....

He actually always said he was for decriminalization, not legalization, so maybe you should have payed closer attention.

If you blame Obama for the mess that he inherited from Bush your a Republican. Obama is doing the best he can, good thing the Republicans care about the future of this country. Obama is having an even harder time because of all the greedy Republican with deep pockets who sell their votes to large corporations. If you think thats alright then you truely are a sheep being led blindly to the slaughter. The country is falling apart at the seems and the Republicans can do nothing but sit on the side lines and ignore everything as long as their bank accounts swell and the corporations throw more money at them. If you want to label PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA A SOCIALIST YOUR AN IDIOT OF EPIC PROPORTIONS. You were told socialism and communism were the same and you listen and follow never questioning anything. Look at the facts for yourself and you will see this country has had socialist aspects for the last 60 years. "SOCIAL" SECURITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MEDICARE!!!!!!!!!!!! FIRE DEPARMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!! SCHOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POST OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS ISN'T ABOUT PARTIES ANYMORE THIS IS ABOUT THE FUTURE OF AMERICA! AMERICANS ARE THE REASON THIS COUNTRY IS A SINKING TURD IN TIOLET OF THE HUMANITY.

From the looks of things, (polls) Americans are even stupider than I thought possible. Voting against your own interests is pretty stupid. Say I've got no health insurance, I want to vote against a bill that would allow me to have insurance, pretty stupid. Those chumps have fallen into the repuke well of hate and lies.

Abe, The issue of MJ legalization is much greater than the weed itself. It is an issue of whether or not people have the right to run their own lives, essentially a "freedom topic". Obama has put out a memo to the DEA to leave medical marijuana alone, which I commend him for. That's apparently all he's going to do though.

He's run from the weed topic or ridiculed it when it's been presented to him in other venues. He's also run from the "freedom topic" when he wants to run my life by making it illegal for me to "not to have health insurance". His philosophy is inconsistent. If you believe in freedom
the substance or the issue is irrelevant, believing in freedom means you don't use government to "make" people do anything but leave others alone.

I will agree that McCain knows little of freedom also. It's hypocritical that his wife is heiress to a large alcohol empire and McCain would lock somebody up for MJ.

Candidates that have a consistent liberty philosophy in all aspects are rare...Ron Paul comes to mind.

Whos an idiot? Americans do not vote for healthcare, our representatives that we voted into office are supposed to vote in the interests of the people, but large corporations pay American politicians to vote infavor of legislation that they will make more profits off of it. Americans are not stupid we are ill informed and bombarded with electronic media on a daily basis and American people no longer care about any political or social issues unless they involve the dislike button on facebook.

Thats not quite correct - our elected representatives should be required to vote the will of the majority of their constituents, not what they think we need (as though they somehow know better than we what is required).
The political system is broken - neither democrats nor republicans truly represent we the people & with out major change we may be headed straight for revolt and the resulting anarchy.
Not something I want to leave my heirs.

I believe that the majority of American do not care enough to take part in a revolt, as long as social networking sites still exist anyways. Social networking sites are destroying America.

it may have to get worse before "americans" decide to do something about it. evidently, not enough "americans" are getting screwed. that's the difference between a liberal and a conservative. If any number of "americans" are getting screwed, a libleral will lend an ear. with a conservative, you need to screw a majority or a "super" majority to get regulation.

When we vote "for our own interests"
in life it's called freedom. When we vote "in our own interests" at the expense of another's freedom what should we call it then?

Which failures will be enough? Our shitty education system, where more focus is placed on entertaining our children rather than teaching them? The pivate healthcsre industry who charge outrageuous prices and decide who lives and dies? Or the balloning debt? Or the wars in the Middle East? How about how almost every state government is slashing money out of anything it can because we are broke. We are the Roman Empire, we are the Soviet Union. Communism doesn't work and apparently neither does capitalism. Democratic socialism is the answer.

There's so much to work with here....

So you don't like greedy Republicans selling votes to Corporations.

Me neither.

But what is your opinion of greedy Democrats who buy votes from moochers with an entitlement mentality?

Social Security and Medicare are both unconstitutional.

Fire departments, schools, and police are the responsibilities of the states.

Of the list you mentioned, only the Post Office is Constitutional.

If it's not about parties anymore why do the two big parties see to it that only they get to share power?

If you knew anything you would know that the only reason that the budget has increased so much is because Obama is honest unlike Bush. Obama has added the Iraq and Afghan wars to the budget rather than what Bush did. ush did not include the wars in the budget. Rather he placed them on a supplemental budget that was placed diredtly into the national deficit. Boom.
