How To Spot A Conservative?

Many people in the world toss the word conservative around carelessly. Not everyone who does something evil, uncaring, or rude is a conservative. They may simply be psychopathic, sociopathic, or oblivious. In order for them to be true conservatives you have to understand the reasons behind their actions. Let's go through a few examples.

Lets say an old woman falls in the doorway of a store. There is a guy behind her that sees her fall, then turns and exits the store through another door. This can be kind of tricky. You really have to observe his body motions and facial reactions to gauge whether or not he is an conservative or something else. If he hesitates before turning for the other door, he may have been thinking about helping her. Conservatives seldom help others unless there is a reason that is in their own interest. It may be that it took him a second to realize there was a way to get around her, in which case he is a conservative. Another possibility is that he wanted to help her, but decided that he might find himself involved in a lawsuit, which would mean he is just a moderate, not a conservative.

Why the sweeping accusation? What you say gives the impression that you believe all conservatives are terrible people and that all terrible people must be conservatives (I could feel the sarcasm dripping from your opening statements). I simply do not believe this to be true. I myself am conservative in some respects but liberal in others. I feel like most people are not strictly conservative, moderate, or liberal. Why does an individual's political views influence who they are as a human being? Does my conservative view on some topics make me a terrible person in your opinion?

In my experience, using your little scenario. I find that you can usually pick out the liberals because they are the ones who force people down and then stand around and say "someone should help that poor woman". Then, to add insult to injury, blames the conservative that actually helps her out for her having falling in the first place.

Liberalism is a sometimes curable mental disorder, seek help!

See if you can pick out the conservative in this scenario:
The Grasshopper and the Ants

In a field one summer's day a grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. A group of ants walked by, grunting as they struggled to carry plump kernels of corn.
"Where are you going with those heavy things?" asked the grasshopper.
Without stopping, the first ant replied, "To our ant hill. This is the third kernel I've delivered today."
"Why not come and sing with me," teased the grasshopper, "instead of working so hard?"
"We are helping to store food for the winter," said the ant, "and think you should do the same."
"Winter is far away and it is a glorious day to play," sang the grasshopper.
But the ants went on their way and continued their hard work.
The weather soon turned cold. All the food lying in the field was covered with a thick white blanket of snow that even the grasshopper could not dig through. Soon the grasshopper found itself dying of hunger.
He staggered to the ants' hill and saw them handing out corn from the stores they had collected in the summer. He begged them for something to eat.
"What!" cried the ants in surprise, "haven't you stored anything away for the winter? What in the world were you doing all last summer?"
"I didn't have time to store any food," complained the grasshopper; "I was so busy playing music that before I knew it the summer was gone."
The ants shook their heads in disgust, turned their backs on the grasshopper and went on with their work.

Of course the grasshopper then cried for social justice and just took the corn by force.

Is the grasshopper the conservative? The ants are working together, helping each other, and looking to the future. Looking forward doesn't seem to be such a conservative trait. Seems like they usually cling to the past, and when they want change it's to go back (to the good old days). Did I get it right? Do I win anything?

Actually, the point of the story seems to be about laziness. Is your point that people with certain political stances don't work as hard as the others?

Many of the "so called conservatives" of today are conservative in name only. If you are political and want to know about conservatives, start with Gary Johnson or Ron Paul.

Neither Bush was a conservative. Reagan was not a conservative, Romney and the rest of the so called conservatives the main stream press will push are not conservatives. Sarah Palin, nor Dipshit John McCain are conservative.

You can't be a "conservative" and advocate big government. All of the dipshits in the previous paragraph say one thing, do another.
Not much difference really between them and the big government Democrats.

So how's Obama doing answering questions about legalizing pot anyway? Ron Paul and Gary Johnson answer those questions everyday and guess what? THEY want you to own your body, your property and your labor. Gee aren't they horrible conservatives?

Why the sweeping accusation?
because this is the only way that modern liberals can justify a totalitarian agenda, through claiming that curtailing the rights of others is the compassionate thing to do.

the reality of this little scenario is that the person who helped that old lady to her feet might be either liberal or conservative. the conservative would have checked to make sure she was all right and gone on his way. the liberal, on the other hand, would have spent the next two hours in a display of breast beating and accusations. he would have demanded that everyone around him notice his caring attitude and sign a petition to see that no more little old ladies ever fell again. he would have demanded that a full investigation into the matter be begun immediately and a lawsuit filed against the store for negligence. after several months of petitioning and picketing the store, the investigation being finally wrapped up and the conclusion come to that she had merely tripped over her own untied shoelace, he would immediately claim some sort of cover-up or demanded that another lawsuit be filed against the manufacturers of her shoes, her shoelaces and her parents, who taught her how to incorrectly tie her shoes. he would begin national campaigns to demand that the elderly were only allowed to wear loafers and that all laced shoes be indelibly printed with warning labels in at least half a dozen different languages.

the end product in both cases would have been the same, the old lady would have been helped to her feet, but the repercussions of the event would have differed greatly. the conservative would have realized that accidents do happen and intruded into the lives of others as little as necessary, allowing life to go on and the little old lady to buy her can of cat food. the liberal would have seen the event as another reason we must all be protected from ourselves. he would have made dozens of attorneys rich enough to buy yet another summer home and himself a celebrity. we would end up with another batch of intrusive laws on the books and millions of old people would be walking around in ugly, uncomfortable shoes. oh, and the little old lady's cat would have gone hungry that day.

do you see now why these sweeping accusations are necessary? they pave the way for the demands of wealth redistribution and the welfare state, for helmet laws and seat-belt laws, for anti-smoking crusades and anti-drinking crusades, for taxes on our desires and our sins. where the conservative allows us to be as we are, the liberal demands we be as we should.

It is very predictable for a right winger to quote a hack like Thomas Sowell...lol
Was he a hack when he was a Marxist, too?

Or did that occur only after he saw the light?

I was not quoting Sowell.

Apparently you FAILED to read the article which is a review for a book entitled, "Who Really Cares?" by Arthur C. Brooks.

You obviously jumped to a conclusion based on the link alone.

Which makes YOU a hack. :-P

Hard core "conservative" is my name. I do not have the same beLIEfs that my fathers may have had. My fathers were "hard core conservatives." We are the new generation of CONSERVATIVES. Don't believe these old fu98ks that are senators and congressman claiming to be "conservative" WHCSP Just as Oboma is the new "Democrate" We are the new "republican" I have never liked demoncrats UNTILL our current president. He can heal this Nation,,even more lets just join each other in a new clear understanding what we all do and don't believe in our basic moral considerations.
