HPS KILLER Grow Journal

Well most of you have probably seen my thread about my hps killer that runs at 100-600w.
The light is as follows:
12 Cxb 3590 3000k CB
Meanwell hlg 185-c 700 x3
Kingbrite 80 degree lenses
36" x5.88" HUSA x 3

The light measures 36x36.

Setup is as follows:
5x5x8 tent
6 cuts of my GSC pheno growing in coco on Drippers.
Ppm around 700.
Will be scrogging under a net. Finishing in 5gals.
Mushroom co2 bags
Will be vegging and flowering under my diy light so well see how the 3000k works for Clone to harvest. Got the clones a week and a half ago. Have had pretty tight nodes and quick growth so far. Pretty impressed as the light is running around 36" above canopy and only at about 300w. I will update once a week with pics to document my experience and show others how I will spank an hps with half the wattage from the wall

Are you using 72 volt cobs? I'm guessing so but have to ask lol.

Better have all your shit dialed in when claiming to kill/spank a thouie with 600w of led.......no room for error grower

Lol pretty dialed right now. It's cool outside so I'm trying to keep it warm rather then cool it off. So far so good. Would like to have a c02 Gen but using the bags until I can afford the Gen etc. Even if ibdontnI don't spank a thouie if I spank a 600w hps I'll be happy lol. Well see what happens. My cut of gsc isn't the greatest yielder either so might not be the biggest yield but I can get usually a pound off a 600w hps with her so well see. Thanks for the vote of confidence hahaha

In terms of light that claim seems quite reasonable to me, problem could be low canopy temps in such a large space. You probably won't have it warm enough (or too humid) with only cobs. Running a heater and/or a dehumidifier would tackle the symptoms, but I'd much rather ADD (instead of kill) a 600 HPS for 1200 PPFD and adjust the vent to 27-29° for best results. You may shut it off in the last 3 weeks, but don't smash it yet.

So what's the problem temp is good co2 levels are better then outside. Lots of light. Got them for free from distributor as well so it doesn't bother me one bit that I'm getting free co2. Come on man give me your some of your wisdom. Your holding back some secrets or?

Chucks mad he just found out he has HIV, but that thread is a solid one. If you already have the bags no need to toss them obviously. I just wouldn't spend any more cash on them under the impression they are THAT beneficial. In my opinion even 1 ppm higher of co2 would be beneficial, some say it's a waste of time... But that's kinda why I grow to waste time in my day... It's called a hobby

Exactly. Life is about having fun and enjoying what you do. Bud is just a lonely soul looking for something to do. Anyway thread almost derailed. Let's bring it back. I've done grows in this exact tent with and without the bags same strain same everything and it turned out better both times with so my annedotal evidence points to a positive effect. And since their free it's a free positive effect.

Yeah he's a bit harsh, he can tickle my pickle all day because he knows his shit lol! Just a little weird to see all those cobs and then a mushroom bag. A tank and regulator in there would do quickly noticeable wonders with healthy plants or not or atleast a burner

I 'm sure he does. There's a way to spread info to people and not be a complete dick as well. I would love to do co2 with a burner. It's too far away from a gas source and don't want to be bringing in bottles all the time. So 3 free mushroom bags fit the situation until I can run gas. I'm not blessed enough to be in Colorado or something to not have to worry about everything I do. Just a personal grow for me and some buddies.

Pretty cocky thread title, I agree. I noticed you didn't call out the cob light but the co2 bag, which was sort of a straw man attack, Chuck. I know you hate on the led lovers, but I find it entertaining. I believe in the See Oh Bee master race, though. No disrespect for experience like yours, either. I can have it all.

Nice set up and light man, I'm sure you will yield just as much as a 600 if not more. The cobs kill it. I have 3 of them for my small grows but still using a 1000w HPS for my main grow till I can get the $ to build a big one to compete with my 1000w.

Well if I can get 2lbs off this run which is hard to get with a thoie with this strain I will say I killed an hps. I would be a 1.5ish gpw which I personally know only a few who are consistently doing 2lbs a thoie. Let alone anywhere near that g/w. I will give it my best shot. First time doing coco as well. I am a pure hydro kinda guy. Flood tables and lots of dwc. So lots of variables here. If I get over a g/w I'm still laughing so either way I can't loose. I have another 4x4 running as well with two xgs190s and two r/w150s in it. More wattage but smaller area. I put my light in a 5x5 because ultimately getting the results of a thoie while running 600w was my goal. And most run thoies in 5x5 so trying to replicate that.
