HGL used some of my pics in their youtube video!! they are challenging HPS growers to a watt for watt grow off. I love their lights, it will be interesting to see who accepts. 5000 dollars is a lot of money especially if you feel HIDs are better than LEDs, sounds like easy cash. lol

I'm running led vs HID at the moment myself for my own curiousty. All pineapple Autoflowers. Half of the room 400 watt hps the other half a 357 magnum led. The hps is doing better in my opinion, but all are healthy.

IMO HGL is a step above the rest, tho....But DOUBLE the yield? wow.

If double the yield is guarantee... I'll be all for it but I doubt it. Growing does not only depend on the light alone. Your environment plays a big part.

I Agree. I Have gotten significantly more per grow than I did with my HPS setup watt for watt. But I'm not sure I got double

Yeah Double is a huge call but if you have your room dialed in maybe but who know sure we will find out

Bahahaha I know I can hit 3 lbs per 1000w light with my Chemdawg cut. You're telling me I'll hit 6? How the heck do I even adapt the LED to work in my vertical bare bulb setup. Also I only spend like $150 per 1000w Genesis bulb with a used digital Solistek ballast and all wiring. lol this is a joke! Local used hydro stores have the 1000w solistek/lumatek digital ballasts on sale all the time for $90-100 used with 1 yr warranties.

That's amazing if you really can hit 3lbs per 1k light. I'm not trying to call you out by no means, but what kind of setup to you use to achieve those numbers? I'm looking to up my game and any pointers would greatly be appricated.

I do 2 per light on most strains, but the Chemdawg D cut I have is awesome. Yield monster and smells just like a shop rag. Love it lol. Heres an old pic of Headband (707 cut only). This is before I ran the nutes I run now, but most everything else is very similar.

Guy in pic is 5'8"

6' x 12' room
3 x 1,000w vertical bare bulbs (8"-14" from bulb)
12 Headband plants (707 cut only)
2 gallon bucket ebb&flow bucket system
800-1,100 ppm co2
86 day - 74 night
1.5 EC nutes (same exact nutes and strength from rooted clone to harvest)

HydroGrow makes a vertical LED. I think it's 450w, but not sure. Cost was pretty high, like $2000+.

Seems like they're hoping for a "doctored" grow that they can't get blamed for if it should later be proven to be fudged.

Maybe. Or maybe they feel their light is so good, that after a person gets more than what they yield with HPS , and see how much they are saving on electric and cooling cost that the person would want to stay with the company..even if they don't "double their yield.....they are even uping their money back guarantee to 120 days to those doing the challenge to give growers a longer VEG time. There isn't any company in the industry doing that. IMO that is a very bold move, it really proves how much faith they have in their product
