I really want to do a straight up grow. My friend (who gave me the seeds) said that he recommends for someone's first grow to use a mixture of Miracle-Gro and plain, good quality soil bought from a grow shop. Then to slowly change the water level and soil mixture until you get a healthy plant. I don't know, it sounds nice for the LOW COST, but I don't want to half ass it and get a shitty yield.

I just literally don't know what to do lol. My funds are pretty limited.

Anything is worth smoking when you grow it yourself and it will get better and better as you go buddy. i would run all fox farm gear happy frog then go into ocean forest and get the nutrient trio pack and the rest is up to your grow space and budget.

Is the cheap grow he suggested not worth it?
Free smoke is always worth it IMHO, but you will get out of your grow what you put into it.

Many ppl cut corners early on only to find out they wish they had spent more money in the first place, and then they do anyhow. Spend as much $$ as you can!

Best advice is to not take advice (till verified). Everything you have already been told, before you act on it, research it. Even your growing friend gave confusing advice. As said, the ads you see are reputable breeders and have been doing so for some time. You would be hard pressed to see people buying unknown strain/phenotypes from unknown breeders, let alone a non grower. I would never pay for a bag seed even if I knew the strain.
Research soil, lighting, dwc, airo, hydro, and whatever growing aspects you want to try (although soil may be best for a newbie). Growing for the first time is a definate thrill. Make sure to plant a few beans to hope for a female out of (let's say)3 sprouts.
There are a great bunch of folks here that can and will help you along the way, just be sure to research whatever advice you do get. Going with your gut alot works for me.
