i just bought 100 dollars worth of glass

brought it home and fired up the cutting torch and tried my hand at glass blowing. the first one shattered just about the time i was trying to finish. the second one i finished but it has cracks. i smoked out of it though. nice little hash pipe.

i've been looking for the perfect hash pipe. i'll just make my own now. it would have cost me 30 dollars at the glass shop to buy one. if i come out of this with 3 or 4 working pieces then i'm ahead of the game. i think i may invest in a nice torch.

Fdd getting into glassblowing now huh. Don't they have glass blowing classes at Oaksterdam U now fdd?

Yeah but they should let you take the class for free since you teach there part time

Fdd don't you have a rose bud in your tool box wouldn't that make the glass more even on the temp????

I've been wanting to get into blowing glass badly. Just too much work to do on the opp, still. It seems like a difficult hobby. You think after a couple more tries you'll be able to churn em out pretty easily?

this one is not cracked, yet. i think i need to throw them in the kiln and temper them so they don't crack. any heat after they cool and they shatter. so far as i can tell anyways. we just so happen to have a pottery kiln. i have to dig it out of the patio and see if i can get it going.

Just an idea.... sometimes when they cool too quickly they crack. Not sure if that is the problem... but just an idea.

i just watched that and then went and tried to make one. i spaced out and made a marble instead. i'll try again in a few. i got to the point where i push hard but "be careful because the glass will break". it broke.
