I had a 2006 Jetta , manual transmission, was a great car until it started having problems, then it was fix one thing another goes, but for the first year or so I loved that car really nice interior and fairly quick, I would never buy a VW again or dodge for that matter..., Ill just stick with Toyota or Honda from now on..best car I’ve owned was a manual 95 Toyota Celtica, had like 150k mile and still ran strong could see it easily pushing 200k, but I got cut off on the freeway andView attachment 4070894Was doin like 70 and hit the concrete sidewall no seatbelt and only had a swollen wrist
How did you still manage to jack off strangers with a swollen wrist?

Buy a code reader. They run around 20 bucks. They plug in under the dash usually right below the steering wheel. It will tell you why the light is on.

Certain codes WILL NOT reset until they are fixed. Most will vanish by simply hitting the erase button on the code reader. It will wipe all the data in the computer and the computer will have to start acquiring that data all over again.

DO NOT WIPE THE COMPUTER RIGHT BEFORE AN EMISSIONS TEST. It will take your car about 50 to 60 miles to acquire enough data to pass an emissions test. If you don't run it long enough, you will error out and have to drive around more and then come back and try again..

They are notorious for electronic and coolant issues. I had 4 vw's. 97 jetta vr6, 97 golf 2.0, 2001 1.8t and a 2004 GLI vr6.

97 Jetta: door ring made Atari sounds when I opened the door. Then all electronics went. Fixed that then coolant started leaking. Blown head gasket. Junked it.

97 golf: went through 3 starters. After clutch blew I sold it for 500

2001 jetta 1.8t: electronics went then it over heated and coolant tank split. Blown head gasket. Not worth the effort to fix it. Junked.

2004 jetta gli: was going down the highway, started smoking like crazy. Over heated and shut off. Steering wheel locked up because the car shut off. Broke the column trying to rip the wheel hard enough to get off the highway.. Blown gasket lol. Destroyed the motor and a few wires melted. Junked it. Because it wasn't even worth the fix.

When jettas run they are awesome cars. If I were to buy another vw it'd be a diesel. I also wouldn't mind an r32 golf. Those are awesome.

I would never buy a high miles vw though ever in my life again. And my highest mileage one was the 2001. It had 105k on it. Same goes with Audi. Basically same cars.

Good luck with your new car lol
1999 Jetta had a parasitic drain on the battery so I had to discount the battery every night and charge the battery every couple weeks but she ran like a champ. 100K+

1999 Passat around 60k, ran great but I let the bank have her back, lol.

2006 Jetta that I managed to total in 3 months with like 2500 mile on it before I Dukes of Hazard that bitch in a corn field, totally not alcohol related.

If you are mechanically inclined it'll help because VW parts are top $$$. I loved my VWs but the cost of up keep kept me from get a 2017 Jetta just a few weeks ago. I did the dumb ass adult thing and bought a 2018 hyundai with a full warranty instead.
