in the old days, i.e before 1960, women didn't work in the numbers that they do today. since the majority of women didn't work, they were dependent on men to a large degree for food, housing, and shelter. today, women provide for themselves and are not financially dependent on men. this allows women to leave a man that she is not happy with for one reason or another where as before, if a woman left her husband she would have to take the kids and would have no means with which to support herself. for better or for worse, the development of the financially independent woman has caused the increased divorce rate in the United States.

While i believe this is a PARTIAL cause, i think it is far from the only one.

Maybe it's just what our society teaches us,meaning when you turn on your television,what do you see?
half naked women,shows like desperate house wives,dating shows,where women are men are in big numbers,looking for love,and just runs through all of the cast.
The morals,the values that the world teaches us through the television,movies,music,it's all sexual and teaching us,that we can have more than just one.Look at alot of these songs you hear nowadays,sex,sex,sex.....SEX.Songs that preach about being promiscuous,sneaking behind your spouses or lovers back,to have a slice of the forbidden fruit,same with the movies,and this is whats being programmed in our heads,weither we know it or not.

Thats why I see know hope for out youth,bcuz all they want to do is,shake their asses,and take drugs.Their is no morals,or standards or a line between what you have and can't,It's temptation,and it's at a all time high than ever.I'm not saying a relationship can't work,or a marriage,bcuz it can.I seen couples married for more than 15 years get divorce,kids,nice home,the whole 9 yards.We just have to understand,that the temptation is a spreading disease,and it's right on your television,right on your computer screen,right on your coffee table,right on your dvd shelf,and it's been a silent killer forever.

Usually I'm the one spouting the moralistic stuff and kind of get shot down for being a killjoy, but THANK YOU for speaking up. What you said applies to both genders. Everything is about nstant self-gratification, not being willing to give and take or using someone for all you can get.

There needs to be love in relationships again, not just having a pass to fuck them. But people don't even need that to get laid these days.

There are many reasons marriages break down, and sometimes there are more complex reasons that partners cheat. Sometimes people think the person they are screwing will do and they are not 'the one'. My parents... my dad never gave my ma any warmth or affection, he was violent... ma found love elsewhere after trying to make it work for 12 years. But no one really wants to be another divorce statistic. Marriage SHOULD be once and once only...

No problem,someone has to say it.Even though I'm just 23 years old,I believe in the ways of the old,in order for a relationship to work,you and your partner have to be friends first,not just two cute people coming together to see if it will work and have pretty babies,that won't work.I believe in,when you take those vows,you have to mean them,and not run away at the slightest hint of a problem or situation.I understand things may not work out,but you have to understand that we as people are not perfect and often make mistakes,but if you established a nice and warm home for yourself,spouse and of course your children,and problems sprout up lol...(sprout) how ironic.

I have literally said this about 50 times on this forum

WTF are you talking about? The family law courts now strip and stab men, giving everything they have to women. I have so many friends, good men, that had a child with some crazy bitch (usually she said she was on birth control, or couldn't have kids) who owns them for 18 years. I work with a couple of bitches that have been married and divorced four or five times, getting money from all of them. Maybe when the family law courts stop giving women EVERYTHING, divorce rates may come down a little. In the meantime, young men, and old, don't get married.
