Something with a sativaish high if possible. I know people say "sativas cause paranoia, stick with indica"... But strawberry cough is 75% sativa and known for it's anti-anxiety buzz. Not sure about Dutch Passion though... heard some bad things (not the real deal).

Anyways, could you please give a list of some strains that have little to no paranoia? I've heard DJ Short Blueberry is a good one?

What about TGA subcool's strains? I heard they're great for depression and such.

Just want a very happy, no anxiety strain and need somewhere to begin... Thanks.

Hey man,
I smoke weed for lowering anxiety,,
Theres too many to choose from to be honest and for me the difference is only really noticeable with Sativa or Indica or extrememly dominants Sativa plants..
Indicas help my anxiety,,yet i smoke cheap good Sativa each day...
One i grow to help me sleep and lower anxiety, gives me a decent crop, very mould resistant, pretty quick and easy grower..would be the Church(greenhouse seeds),,,swiss sativa and northern lights crossed,,great for outdoor growing....otherwise maybe stick with a lemon haze....both can be grown outdoor or indoor tho!

By reputation, Jilly Bean is the most euphoric strain. From personal experience, I can also tell you that amnesia is very euphoric, but only if you get the real deal, and if you let it flower for a good 13-14 weeks. Try to get the original Hy-Pro cut.

I wonder if anxiety doesn't reside in the smoker more than the smoke?
exactly!!! what sort of anxiety are you trying to treat .. are you trying to relax from the stress of the day? do you suffer from social anxiety? is it panic or phobic anxiety? are you more prone to anxiety after smoking?

You'd have to be more specific in what sort of anxiety you want to treat. Anxiety is what makes us alive, it's a natural reaction to a stress. There's no strain that'll take the "organic" anxiety or natural instinct that resides in us .... However certain strains can make it easier to cope with if it's at an unmanagable level...
only strain i can relate to TGA is Jack's Cleaner... I don't know if it came from clone or subcool's BX beans but it was a happy, up, CLEAR high. I'd love to find that pheno again.

Northern Lights #1 from Sensi. Horrible germ rates and yields like absolute caca for a somewhat larger "indoor" plant, but man the high(70/30 Sativa dominant) just induces a huge grin from ear to ear leaving your eyes heavily bloodshot with the lids sagging. Great stuff, just wouldn't ever grow it again... at least any from Sensi Seeds.

DJ shorts blueberry sucks to grow. I've given it two tries, and had horrible germination rates, and they are so fing tempromental it's a joke. I'll be staying away from his shit for life. When he got raided a few years ago, his seed stock has been terrible.......

[h=1]Cannabis and Anxiety Part 2 March 12th, 2010

Cannabis as a Cure for Anxiety[/h] Just as with the article looking at cannabis as a cause of anxiety, I have found compelling evidence that marijuana can cure anxiety very difficult to find, although the anecdotal evidence that it does abounds.
So, even though anxiety can be a common side effect for some users, for many people the opposite is true. Joan Bello, author of the Benefits of Marijuana, says:
“With the expansiveness that occurs with marijuana, the subject may begin to notice infinite possibilities to raise the quality of his/her life that would otherwise have remained hidden from normal, defensive consciousness. And feelings of health and happiness naturally lead to hope, which of itself can be curative.” Ms Bello interviewed over 400 people for her book who suffered from all types of disease, including, MS, Glaucoma, Epilepsy, Migraines, Asthma, Depression, pain, Anxiety, Digestive Disorders, among many other stress-related diseases.
What Bello goes on to say is, I believe, the crux of the marijuana as cause or cure debate:
“When it first became popular in the West, marijuana was imported mainly from tropical zones, where the sativa strain of cannabis is indigenous. This type of marijuana is known for its “cerebral high,” having little noticeable body participation. No studies concerning the different effects of sativa vs. indica have been done, but from the lack of physical sensation, it is reasonable to assume more Sympathetic or stimulant qualities in sativa than indica (a cooler climate type). This is compatible with the notion that in hotter climates, less calming is desirable from a recreational substance, since hot climates in themselves cause lethargy. Many connoisseurs of marijuana prefer the sativa high, although in the last decade it has become very scarce due to domestic cultivation of strains that thrive in temperate zones (and indoors). “Cerebral highs” are experienced as lightness of thought beyond usual concern with self esteem. In relationships, a cerebral high attunes the participants to a less separate sense of themselves. Conversation is animated and a general feeling of camaraderie is in the air.”
My belief is that a person’s reaction to marijuana is dependent upon the interaction between his or her natural disposition and the strain of cannabis used. Surely, if a depressive character uses a calming indica strain the result would be even more lethargy and apathy, leading to a deeper depression. If that person, however, used stimulating sativa instead, doesn’t it follow that the depression would be lightened? Of course, the opposite would be true for a person suffering from anxiety.
There is so much anecdotal evidence supporting the anxiety relieving effects of cannabis that it has to be true! For that reason, we are suggesting that the following strains might help anxiety disorders:

  • AK-47
  • Big Bang
  • Blueberry
  • Blue Moonshine
  • Blue Satellite
  • Bog Sour Bubble
  • Bubblegum
  • Burmese kush
  • C99 x Great White Shark)
  • Fieldale Haze
  • Firecracker
  • Ganesh
  • Hashberry
  • Jack Herer
  • Juicy Fruit
  • Kalichakra
  • LSD
  • Mango x northern lights # 5
  • Northern Lights
  • Northern Light Special
  • Northern Lights #5
  • Romulan
  • Shiskaberry x Dutch Treat)
  • Shiskaberry x Hash Plant
  • Speed Queen
  • Strawberry Cough
  • Strawberry Haze
  • Super Impact
  • Trainwreck
  • Wakeford
  • White Satin
More information on the various marijuana strains can be found at How to grow marijuana

OP: Definitely give green crack a go. It is a must have for the clear headed, focused and uplifting effects ALONE. I also suffer from pretty bad anxiety (not really noticeable to most) and I have never been able to function normally while on marijuana. Now, with gc I can genuinely feel that normalness I've always longed for with weed. The feeling of blazing one and being able to still hold a conversation without having that zoned out/stoned feel about me. I have very large features (eyes) and I am very nervy by nature, so trust me when I say that gc does not do anything to mess with my balance at all. Peace

-H

PS Jack Herer is awesome too, but with the indica effects it can cause lock on me just a little. I love it as an evening smoke though and it is VERY clear and enhances colors/senses nicely.

i know im gonna get snubbed at... but ive recently grown very fond of Master Kush. It has powerful sativa and indica effects, leaning more towards the indica. it depends on the breeder but usually its a hybrid of Skunk #1 x Landrace Hindu-Kush Indica(probably paki or afghan). I've smoked a few different kinds of master kush, and they always have been consistant with the high... powerful, NO ANXIETY(big for me), great body feeling as well as mental potency, great taste, VERY easy to grow.
Skunk x Indica hybrids are some of the most common, and most loved strains in the world. Big Buddah Cheese is one, Grape Ape is another, Big Bud, Super Skunk may be the most well known of the group... but my favorite so far is the Master Kush. Ive never smoked a skunk x indica strain i didnt love come to think about it! and i have VERY bad anxiety... i even ended up on IV heroin because of it at one point. so trust me i know about anxiety... Having the right strains of pot available to me to help was vital in my recovery from opiate abuse, not only at home but for social situations as well!! good luck my friend remember! skunk x indica and u cant go wrong IMO. especially with the Master Kush...

very strong head high strains will give you WORSE ANXIETY. take a look at the hospital: they dont give uppers for anxiety attacks, they give downers... such as xanax or ativan.
you need to look for hybrids, not too far one way or the other on the indica/sativa spectrum. the guy above me is right... every time ive smoked a widow hyrbid or white widow itself it was a wonderful social high that is anxiety free. White rhino, Chrystal, Great White Shark, Snow White - those would be my recommendations for White Widow x Indica strains. NIRVANA CHRYSTAL is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE BUD!

I like Barney's LSD but personally it has given me more anxiety than it has ever relieved so I no longer smoke it. This is what's wrong with anecdotal evidence - everyone is different. Now, the Northern Lights I agree with!

If you have tried Master Kush by different breeders is there one you prefer over others?
