nice man..im not one of them car whizes but i sure as hell love to drive them..especially stick
Yeah mines a 5 speed. Cold air intake, chip, exhaust, and an x-brace for better handling along with strut bars, and 18 inch wheels. Its pretty fun. Does some nice donuts and it will roast the tires....handles like a little ricer but it has real wheel posi so you can actually have some fun with it. :peace:

I have a 350 in an old nova. Don't get a 305 and mess with it or a 350, drop a 454 and leave it stock....unless you plan on smoking your tires everyday! Then stock parts may not be able to keep up :)

Man those smog laws suck....I like having none here in florida.

Man you dont already have a block? Is he an actual engine builder? if not I suggest going to a few and getting some differant quotes before you jump on that.

I think his part prices are bumped up quite a bit too....I got a nice 7qt oil pan for my dads 67 camaro and it was 60 bucks.

*he crushed the bottom of his when the jack sliped so I suprised him*

Rod bolts are usually half that price too. and if your buying a long block why do you need them?

Im pretty sure thats an isky cam he is trying to sell you good cam but costs 30 bucks less online.

wait so your just gonna do 350? no 383?

the shop is a "race car" shop. they build hot rods. they've done work for me in the past. i trust them.

i have to keep the 350 because that's what the truck came with. smog laws........

not sure about the rod bolts.

someone said something about "stroking out" the 350. shorter this and longer that. makes it a 383.?? i'm new to all this.

you get longer piston rods, which changes your "stroke" length. this increases horsepower because 1: the compression ratio goes higher and 2: the stroke becomes longer which translates into more power. now if you bore it and stroke it, then you're talking!!

that's what i thought.

you said "stroke it".:hump:

i figure i can do the work and get the parts cheaper but sometimes it's nice to just pay someone else to deal with it. i always run in to snags. they quoted me 15 hours so i figure it would take me 10X that.

And how long would take you? I mean 150 hours spread over x amount of days plus, having to look after and tend your forest! I'll take you forever what with months you spend on those expeditions in the foilage!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

A larger crank shaft is what gives you the bigger stroke not longer rods.

Yeah Fdd I would look in a magazine and you can get 100% complete 383's with about 450 horsepower for 7000 or less. Please check it out or go online there are plenty of engine builders...

ALuminum heads with 2.02 valves that thing will breathe!

383 CHEVY 450 HORSEPOWER CHEVY STREET ENGINE

It even comes with an installation dvd....even though anyone could do it...especially after unbolting the motor that was in it then all you do is reverse the steps you took to take it out.

Basiclly just unhooking a little electral...fuel lines...etc. then you pull out your driveshaft....then you unbolt your trans....lastly unbolt the motor and the damn thing will come right out...

Please check out that link and see what you can really get for 7000...A turn key 450 hp 383 that is identical to a 350 externally....just larger internals....Have that damn thing shipped to your house NOW please....that is a very very very nice motor!

Hell even on ebay man great prices, ive bought a couple motors off ebay with no problems.

Once you get the crate engine sitting at your house it will take only a day to drop in and its the same engine as your 350 externally....so everthing is going to line right up and the thing will go right in! they would only be able to tell what you had if they completely tore your engine apart....or if they were smart enough to listen to the way the thing will sound hahaha

you guys keep over-looking something. the motor is only $3000. i am more than happy to pay someone the rest to put it in for me. i am capable just fuckin lazy.:blsmoke: fuck i forgot a gasket, damnit i broke a bolt, what the fuck is electrical?, this hose went where?, how come we have extra parts left over?,...............

so i found this.......75 GMC FULL SIZE JIMMY 6 INCH LIFT 35S ON IT PROJECT - $800

everything it needs my truck has. everything my truck needed this one has rebuilt already. for the price he's asking i could drop a badass smog free motor in it and take all the good sh*t off mine to finish this one. i talked to him, now i just have to find a ride to go look at it. it's about an hour and half away.:hump:

if i got a '75 i wouldn't be afraid to do the work myself. i'm mainly concerned with smog laws. californias are the strictest in the country. arnold is once again adding even more restrictions.

Why wouldnt his 75 need to be smogged and yours would?

And isnt a vehicle over 25 years old exempt from smog laws? or is it 1976 cutoff?
