The price should range from $20 a oz to $100, depending on the quality of bud, I could deal with $150. Its the same thing with alcohol which use relatively cheap ingredients and sell it for a insane mark up. Weed will be the same. I highly doubt most people will grow it, its takes time, effort and money to grow good weed. Not everyone wants to spend that time growing weed. If someone can grow the most amazing bud at 3 per gram...it would be worth it. I would buy small amounts, since acquiring weed would be extremely easy, and I would be try different strains.

Forgot to add that the consumer pool would grow so it would balance the price drop. People smoking for the first time, people smoking more since they can not get fired, and its easy to get.

The shit is expensive to make, especially if you're talking that good indoor shit (hydro or organic) with nice nutrients, climate control, co2, etc. $200 retail seems pretty legit for decent shit. Trimmers alone cost ~$200 lb, so $20 an ounce isn't really reasonable. A lot of work goes into the herb you smoke.

Actually, with Ebay, I copped all the Hydro stuff, made my own bubbler and for about an initial investment of 400.00 or less, grew a white widow that put out 14 OZs. Add in the cost of running to the water store to bring back pure water and you have 150.00 more, a hundred for the extra light bill, that adds up to about 46.50 per OZ. Pretty cheap way to grow, and after your initial investment, all the grow stuff is free. The initial investment included enough nutrients to grow three or four more grows, so all it would cost for the next 14 OZs is 14.85 ea., pretty damn cheap I'd say. Now about seeds, if you want to change your breed every grow, you'd have to purchase different seeds. My advice is to plant a different breed with the first grow, wait for the plants to mature, then snatch the male out by the roots and dust one or two buds with the pollen, then you can start cross breeding to change your taste

What type of lights you working with? My electricity alone is more than that.

I just get a bunch of seeds once a year put them outside, then pick the ones with the best buds and a plant shape that fits my system, clone em and mom em out. Growing treys from seeds just isn't practical in my system.

This is why the lefty lefter's in California Bugs me.. "Hyper Regulate it and Tax our pants off... please"". How has 70 years of regulation worked out for you??? Yes tax it a little. The money laundering scheme that is business tax, payroll tax etc.. Taxes you the consumer actually pay.. is plenty exposure to taxes thank you very much. We need a little more Republican attitude towards taxes applied, and a lot less carrot dangled in front of tax & spend Democrats begging for new and creative taxes.

Outdoor... $60'ish per oz. $20 for the grower, {$30-$40 if its bought direct say from a roadside vegetable stand} $20 for the Retailer, $20 for the Tax man.

Indoor... $100'ish per oz. Maybe more. Depends on quality. And of course the real determining factor, what people are willing to pay. A product or service is worth what someone is willing to pay.

My prices are based on Catnip Bud I used to get for my cats. The strongest Catnip on the planet I am standing on... Mountain Lion Catnip. They put about the same amount of work and TLC into it that an outdoor pharmer might put into weed, maybe even more. It was about $10 an OZ for loose, de-stemmed bud.. and about $15 per oz for the top apical dominant buds, packaged as whole buds and wrapped with a black silk ribbon. It was strong stuff... upon opening the bag, the smell knocked you over. More pungent, and fragrant than some of the stuff masquerading as top shelf cannabis at some dispensary's. {which is kinda pathetic... when Catnip smells better}

Make it a commodity like corn or wheat and let the market decide the price.;-)

Study: Pot Prices Could Plummet Post-Legalization
Wednesday, 07 Jul 2010 02:42 PM Article Font Size
A new study says legalizing the recreational use of marijuana in California could sharply drive down prices for the drug and possibly undercut the tax windfall that supporters have touted.

The study published Wednesday by the RAND Drug Policy Research Center says "considerable uncertainty" surrounds the state ballot initiative. It would allow adults, 21 and over, to possess an ounce of marijuana and cities and counties to license and tax commercial pot sales.

The authors predict that retail marijuana prices could drop from $375 an ounce under the state's current medical marijuana law to as low as $38 per ounce.

According to the RAND analysis, consumers would pay more than that — about $91 an ounce — once taxes imposed by local governments are figured in.

I'd get like 50 dollars worth of tomatoes from a tomatoe plant. I'd get like 1000-3000 dollars worth of buds from a ganja plant and they both take the same amount of work other than the harvest. just saying
