Hi everyone,
nice feedback for area51 I see.
@Natro: Yes, the 660nm is really low on their panel.

I could build one using a combination of CW/WW oslon SSL and hyper red oslon SSL in order to have more 660 and as much blue/ red 630nm but It will be more than 2$/W so their is no point bothering if everyone get good bud with the A51 spectrum.

@pet flora: having two side lighting would be a good idea, maybe after a first run...
when you choose the custom spectrum, and then select 12", once you filled the led, it says 16,1W consumed and 26% efficiency (depending on the spectrum) on the right => first I see a low efficiency and secondly the price is 119$ without shipping for the 12". make your calculation it gives what I said.
No offense but I think build my led are not using very good led and make us paying too much just because it is customized spectrum. Building a 12" rail with 15 oslon on it is not difficult and the price will be more like 4$/W so I don't think it's an interesting deal.

bye

Hi guys.. I have 2 Hans panels which work great but as the upgrade goes.. I need some light to cover 2 tent (5'x5'), so..
First of all I'd get 2x XGS190 as shown in Ex 1.. However, its out of stock.. Then I thought it'd be better 4x RW75 as Ex 2...
Now I just think I can't miss any of both worlds.. (I mean, spectrum..) So I came with the Ex 3 idea, which will have 3750k warm white, 5700k cool white and deep red.. none will be missed.. The Ex 4 is just an idea if I had more money to spend..

What u guys think?

BTW, only the tent size and the units footprint are proportional, the units size itself is random..
And I pushed the XGS190 footprint a little from the 2,5x2,5 in the site..

I want a flowering LED light or a combo veg/flower LED light for a small 32"x32"x60" tent. I want a high-quality light. What do you all recommend?

I think ex 3 would be the best coverage and spread of spectrum

How much has changed in the LED scene in the last 2 years?...about 2 and a half years ago I could not justify the $$$ of LED compared to T5s. I like the compact nature of T5 and have read about how Philips has come out with a lower heat LED (see consumer reports) that cuts the need for an aluminum heatsink.

3+ years ago I was right there with you, so I bought a Quantum Bad Boy 8 bulb hot5 with Quantum Grow and Flower bulbs. Before I got half way into veg, I came across a RIU thread about LED Without LEDs, using various quasi-monospectrum bulbs from the aquarium industry. I jumped into that rabbit hole head first, simultaneously keeping a close eye on leds

Drop by my thread.Week 2-3 of flowering. By Friday I will replace the hot5 with a BML SPYDR 600, which will cover the same area- more actually. More 411 in my thread

Any opinion on the Dirt Genius Line of LED's??? Look's like blackstar LED's but way cheaper. There is a video on youtube if you search for "Joyhydrogrow 300 watt vs dirt genius 280" that shows the actual draw on his kill-a-watt meter and they seem spot on. I went ahead and ordered two of them only because of their 3 year warranty. One for veg and one for flower. They advertise on their website:
The Veg light as: 240 Watt theoretical and 165 Watt actual draw
The Flower as: 240 Watt theoretical and 140 Watt actual draw.

I purchased the two of them a $260 total.... so in my mind (165 + 140)= 305 Watts actual draw

so then..... $260/305 Watts =0.85245902 .........that means its 0.85 cents per watt

I have the Veg LED light over some seedlings I just germinated that seem to be doing great. The flower LED light is smack dab between two 600W HPS's in my main tent that is 4'x8'x7' (WxLxH) . I've had these two for a couple of months now they are holding up well. No lights have gone out yet...so I cant complain. I'd be curious to find out the PAR output on these.

illumitex seems promising.. they do lie about their tests comparing to other light sources and they don't return emails.. I highly doubt they will honor any warranty.. Imo that is a company to stay away from..

Looking to jump into LED's. I'm looking for 2 light systems for vegging and flowering. I have found 1000watters for around $500.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=led grow light&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xled grow light 1000&_nkw=led grow light 1000&_sacat=0
But not sure if they are any good. I'm looking for a reliable light system that will produce great results. I'm really trying to stay away from hps due to the heat and cost.

In conclusion can you guys recommend me an LED light system for probably 6-8 plants per vegging and 6-8 flowering. Thanks guys.

How about that one?

So i'm not on the illumitex boat (yet) nor do i work for them...i'm just a so cal grower tryin to make it long term in this game..

I gotta question why you think that they wont honor the warranty? what makes you think that? I would expect great customer service considering the service I have already received..

I emailed them 2 sunday's ago, they emailed me back same day asking about my location then directed my email to the director of commercial lighting for SoCal and I got a call on monday. He said he was out of town all week and that he would bring the light out to my ranch to show me next monday (4/19). He did all those things and offered us a 90 day trial on up to 4 fixtures at a pretty solid discount. (still thru a distributor) ( out of respect I'm not going to disclose that # publicly (under 2k). Also if you are interested in contacting them pm me for the director of commercial lighting's email address, he's a good dude family man, part owner and he grows. I fully would expect them to cover a burnt out diode or fried driver, but the unit's built so solid that I kinda doubt they fail very often. Btw thats my youtube upload and the director talking about the 90 day trial..

I doubt either of those lights will grow what you would want them too. no way 1 can grow 6-8 plants..

me and a few other people have emailed them several times. Not one response. That's a sign of poor customer service. Their lights vs induction is bullshit. They are comparing against china direct commercial induction. Refuse to compare to other light sources.

Personally, as a non-commercial grower, I could care less about customer service when it comes to corporations. If your product works, then I'll never need to talk to you and I'll let my vendor handle any headaches. Fuck, I've never gotten CREE to get back to me. Should I say they should be avoided Hy? And it's not like I communicate with these companies like I chat around here. They don't care about little end users. That's why I said before Hy, if you want to talk to them, make up some bullshit story about how you're gonna need 2 dozen of their lights. That will get their little dicks a-wigglin :).
Illumitex is just a pig greedy corporation like most from what I can tell. Fuck the discount, why don't they just sell the DS at a more reasonable price? If they can sell just 4 for below 2000.00 each, they could do a shit load better to begin with. I understand they have a right to charge what they can get. And that their overhead is a bit more than many LED companies since they don't source a lot of work, if any, to China. But it just seems that it's business as usual in the good ol kingdumb of Texas USA. Get as much as you can while ya can, right? And my business response is to keep my wallet shut tight and be a mercenary. No brand loyalties, no corporate fandom. I like their products, but they're as full of shit as everyone else.

But that's just my .02 cents. Anyone seen their 730nms for sale anywhere :) ??????

Which 4 illumitex fixtures did he offer for under 2k???

Still think their solid lights, just in a large grow/commercial OP I would never deal with any type of " purple/f3" spectra IMO......I know growers say they can get accustomed to it or just turn the led fixtures off when in the room! I can't stand it personally and refuse to do unnecessary tasks(lazy) sooooo I just get the fuck out as fast as possible:P
