Hi everyone. I spoke with a very kind woman at DPH yesterday who said that my application review has not yet started, but “you’ll be coming up soon,” she said, or something like that. My application receipt with the state is 12/29 (done through the nice people at Innovate Express Care). So since someone’s 12/18 application is currently under review, they appear to be in the second half of December. She said she cannot give any individual or process estimate, but that the current average time from starting the review to card arrival is 3 weeks (which includes the typical 10-14 days after approval). It sounded as if applications with no problems may take less than three weeks to arrive once the review starts. The card should arrive in a non-descript white envelope. My contact at IEC recently told me the process with the state is still averaging 12 weeks, or 84 days. No surprises here, but I thought this info might be useful. I’m hoping to have a 3/20 card arrival in order to have a very classy one month anniversary date 8). Good luck everyone.

So it DOES appear that pace has quickened quite a bit. Illinois shaving off a week or (gasp) two?
A bloody miracle I tell ya! Shoot anymore than that and I'll have to bake them some cookies or something in thanks. Got a new rheumatologist last week so starting a different regiment. If all works out , I should get card when spring hits with goofy weather.

I think I wouldn’t be so antsy if they sent an email stating approval, denial, or if something’s wrong. I guess I’m asking if the “no news is good news” type deal applies with this application process. They would send you something if you were denied for some reason right?

right, no news is good news. they send you a letter only if there's a problem in my understanding.

Update: received email "currently your application is processing with the secretary of state. the agency is verifying your illinois residence, confirming that you do not have a cdl license. once this process is complete, SOS will then submit their approval and we will then send your information to the printing company so that they can process and print your medical cannabis card. Once printed, the printing company will mail you directly the card to the address on your application. Please allow up to 14 business days to receive the card in the mail, as the printing company is based out of Pennsylvania. We truly appreciate your patience."

Not exactly what I wanted to hear with a 12/14 application date (was hoping approved by now) but a nice note, and the typos in same make me think it wasnt a canned response but someone actually had to take the time to write it, which I appreciate.

Would love to keep hearing any updates from other mid-december applicants. Good luck everyone, and may the wait help us appreciate what comes after all the more.

I think what's painful with the waiting aspect in this type of situation is that bad news generally comes by snail mail vs email. This will probably add a week on average to timeline.

I'm a 12-7 on mine. Haven't heard anything on mine. Just the standard email response .Took 3 days for that. I expect mine anytime now .

Hi All. I've been following this for some weeks now and want to share the exciting news. I sent my application and check in the mail (snail mail) on 12/15. As of this afternoon, my check has been deposited. Finally! I was fearing any complications but I guess quiet patience has paid off. I'll let you know when the card arrives. I know everyone is so eager to be free. We'll get there.

OK, day 86 for me. Mail ran, no card! Ugh. Again they received mine on 12-6. Paid with cashiers check so I don't have the canceled check. Hopefully I'm not going to be in the 90+day club. ✌

legalizing recreational marijuana for everyone isnt fair to medical patients who have to pay $400-500 and wait 3 months to get a card to get relief from their diseases. will recreational users have to go through the same process as we did?

Pretty sure medical cannabis would be of more of a discounted price than recreational. Anyone over the age of 21 can purchase. But really though I have no idea about the whole plan til it comes forth. There r people with diseases that would benefit from marijuana usage over opiate pills but cant get a medical card due saying of being admitted to any kind of psychiatric hospital. Or me for instance because I have a pot felonie from 08 which of today would been a misdemeanor, and say I would rather consume pot than take pills but I can't get a medical card because I got caught with a quarter ounce Back then.
IDK guess the world is just unfair

This is only hearsay, but I was told medical patients wouldn't have the tax to deal with while others would. ? I HOPE we get to find out if that is true or not, until then, we all deal with the frustration of gaining access to our medication. Don't let someone else's ease at getting it (someday) take away from the fact that today (at long last) we have a legal way to get ours. We're really fortunate. But your concerns are valid and will be shared by all med patients if something about the process doesn't change. I'll research a bit about how it goes in other states- If I find something useful I'll bring it back and share!

For everyone that got their cards (if they’re still here lol) is it standard to get an email? Or did some cards just pop up in the mail?
My card just popped up. Had not contact from the time I sent my application until the card came.

thanks and congrats, Rose!

this tells us a) that it appears we're finally back on track with cards hitting mailboxes and b) that the holidays seemed to have moved the wait from under 90 to about exactly 90 days, and we will hopefully be able to get a sense of how fast they are moving by when Tanker (12/6 applicant) gets his card.

Here's hoping they did a big batch and more early december folks get their cards today!
