Im a Beginner wanting to grow in a closet.

hello everyone. I want to grow b/c from where Im at there isnt any good strains or anything just basically dirt and Im tired of it going around and wanna get some good stuff in the area.

I have about a 6ft L 3ft W 8ft H to grow in. its already painted white very very cleaned out. I have carpet and a rack in there so I have something to hang my lights from. I need a basic simple plan on a sorta low budget plan for right now until I can make some money and get better equipment. I dont have any real nurserys or anything. Just like Walmart or Lowes.

Well i can tell you from experience that for a closet you gotta have good ventilation, intake and exhaust...so plan on cutting a whole in the ceiling and sticking a "fart fan" or something like that to suck out the hot air...and also you get to figure out a way to bring fresh air in....and then there's the light decision to make...you'll probably go with some cfls....look for the daylight/soft white bulbs at lowes...a daylight 4pk is like $10 at lowes...you can get the soft white at walmart for like 7 bucks....get some mylar from michaels or a fire blanket from walmart....find some 6" fans to blow on the plants and keep air moving...get some 5 gallon buckets....a good soil at walmart would be like a scotts blend...i've heard okay things about the MG Organic stuff....if you have a feed store around anywhere you can usually pick up okay soil there too...just get a soil without ferts...just also read through these threads as well, lot of good shit in there...or you can do a tag search if you don't feel like going line by line...i probably left out some of the stuff, but since i just started too it's kind of fresh in my head....good luck

I cant cut holes into my wall since I live in a APT. but how would I go about the lights and fans etc. Ive never wired it up.

yo you can put holes in your apt. closet. just whenevr you move... fill in the holes with sheetrock, plaster, drywall. etc...... you cant get in any trouble... especiayll if you pay for the fix........ im currently growing in a grow tent about the same size. i have a 400W HPS runnin the middle, and two 150W HPS on the sides. i was in ma closet before as you are homie...... get a 400W HPS mayb a metal haloide as well................ the white paint is fine for now. it will refelect but make sure you wash it down everyonce in a while. even when your babies are in tehhre kus salt builds up on the wall. welll for me it does kus of foliar spray....... but you want black and white poly... mylar is okay too, but my opinion is panda film is way better. especialy for a more smaller scale grow.... if you got a anymore specific questions mayng. the lights and panda film. I dont have a lot of money to spend right now to get started and I dont have a hydroponics store around me. its about 2-3 hrs away.

okay mayng. ill hook you up.......... the panda flim. for me the hydro store near me sells lengths of 10'x20' i think for 20 bux. thats the cheapest youl get it.... trust me.... ive looked all the interwebz.. for a closet i dont think youll need anymore than that....ill give you the link to there ebay stor e in a min... the light.... should run you anywhere from $140-$250..... you can veg. under HPS. thats what i do. but metal haloide is what is prefferd. get a light with a conversion bulb. so you get both......

why get the panda if you already have white walls i use to grow in a a closet kind of like yours and i used a 4 bulb t5 floro light. just had 2 fans on opposite sides one blowing at the plants and one blowing out air near the top. got good results, the t5's keeps the heat down.

so I have to start and finish the plants in the closet. For just 2-4 plants could I just use the small 150HPS light?

yeah, and you dont need to get an expensive ass light if its only personal

now will the 150HPS start and finish the plants? what type of strain should I go with? I was thinking about skunk b/c its ez and first time growing. but I want some good strain b/c i suffer from bi polar and fuck doctors and there pills to control it. any suggestions? something fairly ez and maybe quick to.

go with MH if your going from start to finish give you a better spectrum

if you wanna do a closet grow like I will be doing I would rig up your closet so that if your having 1 flower and 1 veg area in it you can build 2 sepret grow boxes, use CFLs if you don't want to go with HPS or HID grow lights. I've read that some CFLs grow don't have heat problums. If you have a window in the room you could anways have a window fan in if you don't have a window fan you can buy 1. I got a window fan that uas 2 fans in 1 caseing. It has a gap above the fans so that the fresh air that comes it will also push out the hot air from the top of the room.

That should be enough for like two plants, because each plant needs at least 5000 lumens to grow right

Yeah but I'd have to set those all up on a rig and wire it myself and Idk how to do that. but no matter what if I have veg and flower in the same closet I have to build grow boxes or can I just leave them in the open closet with the light on?
