Hey swift....sorry about your girls...they can take a beating, so no worries.
Yeah id agree with schwag on the light placement/reduction.
I just can't believe these spectras are still running this hot in the red spectrum??.......Or there missing a spectrum?? I don't remember-Ha

I'm not convinced there are any significant changes between versions until I see a spectral analysis that proves it. For all we know they're the same damn lights with pretty stickers on them lol.

I agree though, they will recover and those lights will veg them very nicely, I'm sure.

GOOD NEWS.
Alrite Im back, after a great ass vaca in vegas, im back reporting my journal. Well I had a great time in vegas, got this awesome vegas coupon book, was eating 3 dollar seafood buffets, had about 1000 dollars of free play at slots, poker, black jack, table games. Hit a few shows with 80% off tickets, went to a bunch of comedy clubs with free tickets. Rode the rollercoasters and bungee for cheap. All in all vegas was amazing, came back with 400 dollars in my pocket from the slots. 6 days of fun.

BAD NEWS.
Well I check on my plants and its a disaster. Well disaster might be to strong a word, but I was expecting some major growth. Looks like the 4 leds I was running in the cab was to much power at that height, I have bleaching on some plants, some plants look like they are stunted in growth. Look like I got some nute def. I loaded the reservoir with nutes before I left. I was running the 4 led at a height of 20 inches, I think thats what did the plants in. I mean I can recover the plants no problem and thats what I plan on doing. But I lost about 6 days in growing time, maybe more. Which sucks.

I got to rethink this height for running this much led power. After I come home from work, Im going to raise the LED in my cab as high as they can go. I might not be able to run 4 led 560w of power in that cab because of height, maybe 2-3 but we will see. Before I go to work, im only going to run 1 led in the cab, because its just way to much light intensity at that height for the plants right now.

Whats funny is that the 2 led Im running in the closet, they are at 30 inches away from plant tops, those plants are almost as big as the plants in the cab, and they are almost 2 weeks younger.

Got to get ready for work after my fun ass week vacation. :wall:

When I get home I will do my stuff in the grow room and throw up some much needed pics.
HAPPY GROWING ALL
You do know that you have to introduce the light slowly to a small plant right? Maybe try starting your seedlings under lower powered T5's or CFL's to get them established......then slowly introduce the high powered LED's. Plants don't like abrupt changes and intense light when they don't need it quite yet. I've actually seen some pretty amazing things taking a plant that has been started under an HPS then moving to LED's.......they can handle the intensity from the LED's because they have been under HPS first. Also, it can take time for a plant to try and adapt to PAR specific lighting when it hasn't been grown under previously. Even if you start from seed, the plant that the seed was taken from probably wasn't grown under LEDs so it make sense.

If a light is high in the red spectrum all you are going to see is an increased growth rate and some excessive stretching if it's a far-red wavelength. An increase in red is never a bad thing unless there is absolutely no blue wavelength, then you will have zero growth. When I increased the amount of red in my setup, I've never seen such fast growth before. Didn't like the stretching though. I really think the problems that those little seedlings are facing is the fact that they cannot absorb the intense light fast enough and they are essentially getting "over driven" and can't handle it. So start your seedlings under flouro's then move them to HPS until they exhibit that type of growth, (you know) when the plant leaf cell structure looks like it is on steroids, then transfer it to the LED's. The plants stomata or whatever it's called will be larger and will be able to absorb the light. At least keep the LED's like 5 or more feet away from your seedlings to start out with. With this PAR specific lighting I really think that the plants just aren't used to it yet. After all LED's are not natural light, you need to adjust slowly. It's like putting nitrous oxide into an engine that can't handle the extra power you know................plants can be sensitive, especially the good ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..........

Yes your absolutely right BUT....I'm just regurgitating what others have said about the spectra's spectra(lol).....:bigjoint:
And I was HIGH when i typed that ...............So its excusable........right???

Personally I would run the 2 outers and perhaps move them in just a touch. That would give you core saturation on the outside and a 45 degree angle of quality overlap x 2. With these lights less is more lol. At least its safer IMO. If you want to play with them some more later when they've recovered some maybe. Obviously your call, not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to help.

Sucks leaving town on vacay! I haven't taken a real vacation since I started growing lol.
Alrite Im running the 2 outers, I running them at the same 35 inches. The plants have improved alot. They are doing there steady growth. Thanks for the needed advice.

I think the lights are fine, I think its just way to much power for my young plants I wouldnt run my 600w or even my 400w mh that close to my plants, because of heat, thats how I should of treated the LED. ITs still a lot of power for my tiny plants. Time will still tell if these spectras fix worked.

DAY 23

Alrite these Spectras are making me realize why I bought them. These are some great lights when used properly. Im really liking the growth the plants are doing. These plants are recovering at a very fast rate. I havent added any new nutes, eveything is the same, just changed the height and how many lights Im running. Wish I had ran this many at the start, I can only imagine how good the plants would look.

Here are the babys in all their glory. They are looking alot beter from when I got home from the vacation. Its only been 2 days.

Some close up of some of the plants in the tote, they are starting to bush out. I love LED they keep them low and bushy. MH didnt keep them this short and bushy, you would need the lights close for that to happen and at this young that isnt happening.

Turned the flash on so you can see on these lovely babies. They look alot better from 2 days ago. Didnt add anything to it, didnt spray anything. Just adjusted lights and ran 2. Less is way more with LED.

So far, I love my LEDs, I wasnt liking them much when I got back. But my fault, I was using to many at such a young stage. Young plants just cant handle the intensity. I cant wait till these plants get big so I can test 4 led on one lollipop plant.

Based on my experience with Spectra V1's I don't think you'll have to worry too much about height in veg. The plants are a bit small right now so i wouldn't push it too much, you don't want to rape the humidity by dropping them too low. I've seen Spectra V1's ran at 6-8" during aggressive veg though. The key is when you change the photoperiod. With the V1's I wouldn't start 4 lights any lower than 36", and I wouldn't try to lower them until after the 4 week mark, then slowly drop them until you see some stress. I hope these versions work better for you than the V1's work for me.

Did he tell you what version these are? V3's at least it sounds like, perhaps a V4 I hope? I'm very interested to see how these lights perform with hydro :D
that would be my plan of attack to, sorry had to comment on that, havent finished readin the rest!]

I would kill 2 of those lights and run at 24". That's just my honest opinion from working with these lights for a few months. 2 lights on that table will provide adequate core saturation as well as overlap, any more and you're just asking for problems during either veg or flower. Good luck with the recovery, hoping they bounce back and do it for you in a hurry.
great advice, would deffinitely agree!

Are you planning on fimming these?

Also they do look like they are recovering, isnt it wierd how your plants seem to know your not home and get lonely and tend to "slack off" then when you return to them they are so happy and get right back to work!?

Yeah they are getting in tip top shape. No I have never got root bound, with clones and from seeds. Only time I root bound, when I threw my 6 month old mother in that very same tote to flower, she took out the plant next to her. But that mother was colossal. IF you start from clone or seed, you really never get root bound. You should see my other totes. 35 plants, in a 27 gallon tote. That never root bound. Yeah the get bigger part is always more fun. Never really a jungle, pretty controlled, I do single cola lollipop sog. HAHA That last part had me laughing, I always load a bowl before the forum get some good laughs and smiles in.

Looking much better. Once you start adding up those watts, LED's get potent.....finally
Yep they did get better, cant wait to add the other LED, they are just sitting there waiting to be used.

they are looking very nice
Thanks. Keep on watching and see what these spectras can do.

great advice, would deffinitely agree!
YEah I took the advice and now my plants are looking better then ever. Less is more with Led.
