Damn bro I tried to rep you, that was a nice write up, makes me want to pop my Cannalope Kush seed my OG18 didn't make it.

Your plants are looking super healthy, I love the Kosher Kush to, the buzz on it is very nice for day time IMO.

As for your question about bone meal mix that in with your soil with 1 cup per 1.5 CF bag.

As for the bat guano, depending on whether its the high N or high P stuff you'll want to top dress with it in flower or veg accordingly. ;)

For bat guano you want to take it easy and add 1 tsp per container in the beginner of flower spread even across the top and watered in.

Gnats suck man! I just went to my buddies grow and his shit is full of gnats to, but the girls looks fine to me.

My soil always seems to have some critters in it, mites and sprigtails and gnats... Not really pests that hurt the plant, they are just really annoying and the gnats can and will get in your buds. Its best to get rid of the gnats.

Peace
What do you mean you tried to rep me? Cannalope kush, hell yeah! I highly recommend it, rock solid buds. I consider the high very similar to the Kosher kush.

As to the Guano I'll have to check it out, all I know its Earth Juice but not sure what type of Guano... Impulse/Clearance/High purchase. haha 1tsp is barely anything does bat guano go bad? I have a couple of pounds at least!

Is there any top spread that you would recommend for flowering? Because it sounds like both bone meal and guano are more for veg. I'm guessing I'll just mix the guano and bone meal in the next crops soil.

I don't see any problem in the gnats as of right now, just don't like having those critters flying around everywhere. End up getting paranoid and itchy hahaha.

Yes indeed there is this product I've been using lately, its from the Hydro store designed specifically for flowering, its organic and it works good. :smoke: Better than Bat G and Bone meal IMHO.

The product I've been using is called "Roots Organic Uprising Bloom" I only paid twelve bucks for it and its enough to last for several tent-sized grows.

All you do is follow the directions on the back of the bag, the bag itself should be red. If your local hydro store doesn't carry it ask them to order it for you.

The picture is from my boy's Tahoe OG Kush who is growing out of nothing but Roots Organic "original" Soil and top dressed with Roots Organic "Uprising" Bloom fertilizer.

xddungeon5.jpg

Sorry for the HPS flash, his plants are healthier than mine, and he invested less money in keeping them happy than I did.

The bat guano doesn't go bad it should be fossilized, I've had the same bag of bat g for 4 years

The bloom is a complete fertilizer, if you follow directions you don't need to do anything but that and water until harvest time.

Have a good one man, good luck with the gnats!

Thank you once again Noob187!

Today I will be feeding them for the first time "Bloom nutes". I'll go check out my hydro store for some Roots Organic Bloom. Um... there is a red bag and also a purple one. I can't figure out what the difference from one and another is, Ill go for the red one anyways. Looking at their web page and, Oregonism XL sounds amazing! Ever used it?

I just bought "True Living Organics: The Ultimate Guide to Growing All-Natural Marijuana Indoors", If its ok with you I'm going to be picking your brain a bit. Its weird how much this book just overwhelms me...

That Tahoe OG is looking real good, that's only soil as in... No liquid nutrients? Will I be "overnuting" with top soil and Liquid nutrients?

Thanks!

edit: What week is that Tahoe OG?

I have not read the book but notice it is becoming pretty popular... I've never even read any books on growing organically, its not that complicated IMO to require a book. I think a book on the topic may just add to confusion more than keeping it simple. As many grow books do, if you don't always keep in mind reading it "there is more than two ways to fry an egg" and its not always "their way or the highway".

I think the Oregonism is decent, I used it before, last time I bought mycos/beneficial bacterias I got "Great White Shark" IMO didn't make much of a difference between that and the Oregonism. Both do the same thing essentially.

Yeah he didn't use any liquid nutrients in flower except during veg he gave them the "Buddha grow" a couple times. I was shocked how healthy they looked. I think sometimes making plants rely on liquid nutrients make the plants unhealthy looking compared to how perfect they look all natural. I used bottled nutrients on mine got some burn...

It says apply that Roots Uprising "bloom" once a month. So in the beginning of flower until about the middle of flower you should be good all water only....

At that point you can make the decision: bottles or top dress with more uprising.... I'd top dress the Tahoe because it flowers for 9-10 weeks so it will start running out of nutes right around harvest time.

If you have a shorter photoperiod say 8 weeks the uprising takes you through the first 4-5 weeks, then you can finish them up with bottles for the last couple weeks before leaching (optional).

I really don't know for sure how many weeks his Tahoe is in, judging by the pistils and stretch I'd say between 3-4 weeks, she takes about 10-14 days to start blooming and stretches for the first three weeks of bloom.

I would just get the Red bag that's all I'm using. Although I wouldn't doubt their other products are nice to, I really like these packages because now its like anybody can do organic, where as before you had to know a lot of shit... Now its easier than bottles.

Hello guys

For the first time i am writing on the road, stuck in traffic on pico blvd. Don't worry I'm on the passengers side.

Really wanted to share with you guys. Im real happy, I've been going to the same dispensary for almost two years now and a couple of days ago I gave them a sample just as a sign of friendship they have been always pretty good to me. And well i came back today and they were all pretty jolly when they saw me and they asked if i had more and also complementing that its not easy to get them high and my kosher kush really hit the spot. Well i left everything up in the air and wanted to ask you guys. Im very skeptical because, come on its my first grow I KNOW the amount of mistakes Ive made. Well i have no experience what so ever in dealing with dispensaries and I've heard only bad stories.

Please Rollitup what should i do? Hahaha

Is there a reason you want to deal with dispensaries? If not I wouldn't mess with it. I just don't see a reason unless you have a bunch of weight you can't get rid of.

My biggest issue dealing with dispensaries is the lack of relationship. I've been growing for 4 years now, so the folks at my old place probably wouldn't remember me, plus I moved out here. I grow good stuff (if I do say so myself) and I've been laughed at for asking $800 a qp. Strait laughed in my face. Other folks seemed receptive but were wary of working with someone new. Ended up consigning 2 oz to a place that shut down a week later. I didn't end up getting anything for those 2 oz. Glad I didn't lose more.

In my experience the folks who run most dispensaries are about the worst business people around.

Diff subject... ain't Pfeiffer Beach the spot with the purple sand? Did you see it at all? I approve of the switch from Vegas to Big Sur. Glad you figured that out. And it's funny the lack of rolling skills here in the US. It boggles my mind to watch how quickly and perfectly my European friends roll. I can take 15 minutes rolling one and it's nowhere close to as good as ones made up in a minute.

JigFresh, you know your California beaches! Yes, Pfieffer is the purple sand beach... "Its not that purple really though". I was amazed when I moved to the US that everybody has their "piece" and bongs and pipes and stuff. I've been in the US for almost 6 years now and still rolling like a muthafucka I bought a bong but I can't smoke bong It just feels wrong I don't like it haha. Haven't gone to Big Bear yet def hit you up with some J's whenever I head up to them mountains.

Realistically speaking I'm addicted to growing and seeing my first crop there is no way I can finish what I grow. And I see myself hoarding weed if I don't do something about it. Should I quit my job and just smoke, is that a good idea?

So basically your advice would be try not to deal with dispensaries and if I must trust as little as possible? haha

I guess my advice would be only deal with the dispensary you know, and even then reserve some skepticism. Sitting on a bunch of weed isn't the best idea either. If you don't have friends busting down your door for the stuff you should get rid of it someway and if you know the place dealing with a co-op isn't bad.

Don't quit your job to smoke all day! hahaha

Congrats on the harvest. And yes sir... if you roll out this way we can burn a few together. :) I could even roll one for us to blaze.

Hello RIU!

Everything is going pretty smooth around here. Following up on my last update as I commented on another thread:

I still have not gone back to the dispensary It's not that I'm playing hard to get its just there wasn't any idea of selling my first crop so I'm not really in any type of rush to sell it and much less after all these warnings. I'm guessing I'll stop by some day and take a couple of ounces and if they want to pay up front for it good and if not I'll happily walk away and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

I have a lot of stress on my day to day life and growing has evolved into something more medicinal than the medicine itself. I don't want to turn this into something stressful by having to grow with the idea of $, I think its even better for my stress to know that I do have that option now of selling.

I've never cloned before or even seen anybody clone in person but I have done my fair amount of research so I'm feeling pretty comfortable about it. Before purchasing anything I would like to know if this setup is "ideal" for my line of growing. All I "need" is: Cloning tray, Rapid Rooters, Clonex and razor blades.

Cu
t branch at a 45 degree angle place in water or directly dab with clonex and place in cloning tray. Keep humidity high temperature slightly higher than usual and wait until clones roots. Cutting must be 2-3 nodes tall, cut tips off of bigger fan leafs and tadaa!!!
Right?

VEG CHAMBER

Well today 3-31-2013 five days after germinating some beans were transplanted into 1gal pots with Roots soil. I'm not sure what to do exactly with these plants the odds are pretty off but I'm really hoping in getting a female Boss Hogg. I would like to have Boss Hogg as my first mother plant and give cloning a try.

1/5 Delta 9 Sativa mix "Attitude promo"
2/2 Cali Connection - Boss Hogg "Attitude Promo"

In the next week or so I will have a Greenhouse mix pack coming my way. I know a lot of people are not ok with Greenhouse but to be honest I couldn't say no to their Mixed pack C - Super Silver Haze, Hawaiian Snow, Lemon Skunk, Big Bang & White Rhino. Growing up in Spain most of my friends would use GH gear and Hawaiian snow has been on my list since at least 2005. So its a win win either way.

FLOWER CHAMBER

WEEK 2 FLOWER

Entering the second week of flower I have to say Gigabud has gotten my eye. There are bud sites popping around everywhere.

GIGABUD g13 SECOND WEEK.jpg

Real bummed with the uneven canopy I really need to get on that in the future. From a more sativa looking Kush'n'Cheese to an extremely Indica almost leathery leaf Cataract kush I can't wait to see them flower and see the differences in their phenotypes and ultimately their different effects. I would prefer not to but I'm going to have to defoliate very soon these ladies are jam packed and I do have some condensation in between leafs.

I so feel you on growing. I love it. It's beautiful to me and relieves stress... so it's frustrating when growing causes me stress. Having to even think about what to do with my harvests has been annoying to say the least. I had a question for you... when you say "Week 2 Flower" to label the pics (namely that nice looking bud second to last pic), what exactly do you mean? lol. I guess what I'm asking do you start counting when you switch to 12/12? And has it only been 14 days since you started counting flower?

The reason I ask is because my buds are so far behind yours. And I wanted to know just how bad I should feel. :)

Haha funny that the annoying part ends up being what to do with harvest haha. Growing is so therapeutic, today im working in the morning and now in the PM but i had a couple of hours to smoke with my girl and tend the ladies and its great once i close my bedroom windows and let that orange glow out, im just in my salsa. Which reminds me in the "only water" feeding i gave one of them a tad bit of grow nutrients it seamed to have a bt of a nitrogen deficiency thats ok even though im flowering right?

Ive been counting my days of flower from the day I switched to 12/12 that was 03-15-2013, so as of today it has been 17 days since "flower". Um, that pic is from Gigabud from G13 all my other ladies are pretty behind im stoked with that freebie she is definately a sexy pre-teen. What day did you start 12/12?

I started 3-17 so just a couple days behind. Mine are looking good I suppose... it's my first run in soil so I'm not sure how to gauge things. It will be fine to give them a little N at the beginning. In hydro I used to give them veg nutes the first week of 12/12, then a mix of veg/ flower the next week, and onto flower the third week.

Why'd you move to the US if I could ask?

Any specific reason in switching to soil? When I was planning my first grow I kind of wanted to keep it easy with soil having hydro as a end goal. But to be honest I'm loving soil I would maybe give coco a try. I've been following General Organics feeding chart and they don't have any flower nutes up until at least the second week of flower. I just gave them flower nutes for the first time so I didn't know if it would mess with the plant mixing both nutrients.

It's kind of a long story trying to keep it short. In Spain I didn't really have anything positive going on with my life. High school dropout lucky enough to know English to be able to sell Hash to British Tourists, with a shit job that paid 400€ a month. I had a job opportunity here I was 18 legal in the US "Born here" so why not? Its funny that for the first 2-3 years I didn't even know about the whole medical marijuana here in California. I sometimes do miss Spain but I couldn't be happier with that decision.

Hello RIU!

Man I’m feeling good... just had some good homemade food and Kosher Kush is really getting better with time I am much happier now with this shit now :)!!

Um.. I bought a 4x4 flood try just to have as drainage. Having Air-Pots the plants “leak” more with all the holes, who would of thunk it? So its too much of a hassle using the small pot saucers. I’m not sure how I will use the tray with these bigger plants but once I’m done with this crop I will not grow them out that much.

VEG TENT
First week of seedlings

All three seedlings are going along nicely, real happy. For future reference I used a bit of SuperThrive and am currently happy with it. I feel so much better having passed the “Tiny cotyledon please don’t die” phase:hump:.

Now I will be letting them grow out until the 4 or 5th inter-node and topping it right above the second true node once again. But they are still growing they’re second set of “pointy” leafs so there is time until then. Has anybody tried Mainlining a mother plant? Would this be counterproductive? I would like to be able to use the same T5 for the mother plant and the Clones so I would like to to try and make it as horizontally flat as possible.

FLOWER TENT
DAY 20 FLOWER

There has been more than one defoliating session. I would love to leave all the leafs on but they are really cramped and there is some condensation that I wouldn’t want to escalate to mold’n’shit.

I am so happy with these ladies yeah the canopy is uneven as fuck but wow there are huge white hairs pointing out of nugs EVERWHERE its amazing how much leafs and branches I have taken and there is still a ton of bud sites popping out
. I am really hoping for some big magazine looking nugs haha.

There are a lot less gnats so we’re still battling that one out. Today when I was buying the flood tray there was some beneficial Nematode that supposedly is good for getting rid of gnats. If GoGnats doesn’t work I might give it a try.

I am really surprised with the difference in phenos in the Cataract Kush they have stretched differently and I am also now having problems with one of them. It had what I had thought was Nitrogen deficiency and gave it some extra water and some diluted grow nutes. The original yellowing leafs are the same and now the top has a horrible claw. So too much watering and nitrogen, right? What does this plant need?

NUTE DEFICIENCY 1.jpg

Today we’ll be feeding them full flowering nutes. I already have purchased Molasses for the next only water feeding.

Gigabud still looking amazing really forming some sexy flowers.

GIGABUD - G13 LABS
DAY 20 FLOWER

UP CLOSE GIGABUD.jpg

GIGABUD NOT SO UPCLOSE.jpg

GIGABUD G13 COLA.jpg

I still haven’t topped with anything I had a unopened bag of Roots and once I opened it there were Gnats everywhere don’t want to throw it away but don’t want to use it for topping. On the other hand I did use it for the seedlings, figured that I’ll have time to kill them.

I saw some Botanicare coco bags today at the hydro store and I have one big question. CAN I HAVE GNATS WITH COCO?!

Oh and another close-up

It would take up more space , I did it once and was happy with the clones, but once I flowered the mom out it hardly yielded shit because the first 12" or so of the plant was stripped bear from taking so many clones
CAN I HAVE GNATS WITH COCO?!
Yes, but I dont think it would come in a brick of coco. Maybe other bugs.

I'm going with Promix HP or BX as a soil base next time I need to make some, Sunshine #4 is nice, but it has no wetting agent so watering is kind of a pain in the ass compared to the promix.

Definitely get on those nematodes, those will kill the larvae better than anything you can spray on them buggers.
What does this plant need?
IMHO Potassium and Calcium. You could top dress her with some gypsum and some kelp or sul-po-mag.

That Cataract Kush that is finicky is probably the OG Kush phenotype, if it stretched more in flower it definitely is and will def benefit from the addition of kelp to the top of the soil. :blsmoke:

Also my recommendations on mother plants: Temporary Mother plants, until you can flower, don't chop anything to important off them. Mothers are for warehouse growers or clone warehouses IMHO.

Just clone a plant, take the best clone and veg it until its ready to flower and clone it again... And the cycle continues.

They look good, despite being cramped

Noob187 you really are on it, I really appreciate it man thank you! Wow Promix HP and BX are peat based mediums? Ive never heard about it. The guy at my hydro store was recommending http://www.botanicare.com/Products/Grow-Substrates.aspx one of these I don't remember which one. What do you have to say about it? You know that I am all about these new easy organics packs. hahaha.

I will definitely get nematodes for this grow, I'm kind of bummed that my bags had so many eggs. Yes I'm blaming roots or hydro store! hahaha

I gave them full nutes let me see if they react to that I have not been giving them full dose and I guess with General Organics you have to?

And as to the mother plants I just wanted to learn how to clone and also want to grow with only regular seeds so I'll probably just cut a bit get it mainlined or very bushy at least and get some nice clones to keep around a bit longer.

Yes the Promix are peat based mediums, in my side by sides of Roots organic (Peat and Coco based) Vs just Coco based soil was a big difference in final outcomes.

The plants that were in roots seemed to stay green/colorful longer during the end of the grow than the ones in coco.

I think it might be a store thing, because out here there is like 5 hydro stores locally and I would only buy soil from one of them, even sealed.

The fresher the better, the lesser chance bugs got in through the holes.

If you were talking about that "Slacker" mix, it looks decent. I have no experience with it, but if you feel like experimenting I'd say go for it :)

I'd say its a good base mix, you'll still want those dry fertilizer packs to top dress with in veg and bloom.

I also have no experience with the general organic bottles. I'm terrible with bottles, I like having less things to remember.

Tip on the clones: Clones taken from the bottom shoots closer to the roots will root faster because they have more rooting hormones in them.
