Hello Cobkits,
Ive watched the Growmouse led vids and reading the forum here so starting to get itchy to go cob. I'm looking into a 10 cob diy citi set up and going back on forth on these parts listed below. Id like to get it right on this build as the latest builds I've done work, but im not too impressed with the results, but that might just be me an my expectations.

At this time I'm just doing testing for a few growers here and looking for the best bang for the buck and proving Led is the way to go now, there hung up on the Hps, but they are willing to make the jump once I get it right ;). They have donated to the R&D so that helps.

The grow area I'd like to cover is 4x4 to a 4x8 depending on what the 10 cob set can cover, looking to flower only.

The cobs I'm considering are 3500k series or maybe the 4000k's

CLU048-1212 80CRI
or
CLU048-1818 80CRI

Also im not sure about the CRI, I picked the 80's as they seem to put out more lumens.

So my question is which ones would be the better way to go and why, also driver recommendations would be nice.

My current builds are of the 3watt leds 2x85 @48v/3.2 amp dc multi spectrum panels other wise known as blurple. The dual panels pull 232 watts at the wall as a set. The Third is 120-3 watt panel. Dc current draw @48v / 3.9 amps dc. Pretty much all white at the 6500k, I know, 6500k not the best for flowering so it seems.
I do have plenty of uv and Ir/far reds should I need to add a bit of supplement.
The growing media is coco/coco compost mix.

Thanks for the input and recommendations.

4x4= 16 SF x 40W/SF = 640W.

10 cobs at 64W - you want 1818 not 1212

for flower only id recommend 3000k 80 cri or 90 cri
ill have 120mm heatsinks for these in another week or two

Thanks, I see the various dimmable drivers also. which drivers seem to be most reliable with the 10 cob set up running them at the 64 watt.

all the hlg series are dimmable (A is on board, B is external) all are equally reliable, >100,000 hrs MTBF

I am looking for some veg lights for a 5 x 9 tent.. what are some recommendations. I currently have some 3590's over a couple 4 x 4 trays in flower but would not mind trying citizen maybe. Recommendations?

hmm, I'd just priced some from Jerry, since you didn't carry them. Was about to order, but might just wait for yours. What's the height, and do you know what the price will be yet?

Also when you get a moment could you answer my above questions about the 320 drivers ^^

i need some more explicit questions, youre talking about a few different kinds of drivers in that post

thanks
From what I've been reading (some of it from you in months past), the various kinds of 320's all seem to run quite differently: the cc drivers (afaict) put out more watts than the cv drivers, and then it seems that there is a fair bit of variance in the a b and c versions. So as I said, I'd like the option of driving these cobs as close to 50w as possible,,, so in your opinion: which 320 (and a/b/c?) would get me closest to my goal (running at 1400)

In this page; https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-hlg-600h-thread.898161/page-5#post-12909124
there is a lot of speculation on the different 320's...are some really 350w?, you even speculate one might reach 380w.

So at this point, what do you know. If I want to drive 16x1212's with 2 drivers, which one will give me the option to drive them the hardest?

Thank you :)

Hey CobKits,

Quick question.
What would i need for a small pc grow?
Specs:
L=40cm
H=35cm
D=19cm
1-2 Plants
12/12 from seed
1 light for veg+flower
Do you deliver to South Africa?

Kind Regards

not in my experience. depends on how well you fill the voltage out on either
and then it seems that there is a fair bit of variance in the a b and c versions.
there is no c version equivalent to a and b version.

a= adjustable voltage and current
b=remote adjustable current ("dimming")

perhaps you mean C as in constant current drivers like hlg185-C1400, these are available in both A and B versions

most are just under 400W full tilt. much more easily reachable with a constant voltage A series appropriately voltage matched (like a 48V)

So at this point, what do you know. If I want to drive 16x1212's with 2 drivers, which one will give me the option to drive them the hardest?
2 600V 36As probably
a 320 isnt going to drive 8 that hard as they will be under 36V at that current
