They look really good man!!! they do not look heat stressed at all. can't wait to see some buds!!!! Thanks for the reptile light tip. I looked into them, and they just might do the trick! I'll have to wait till winter time to see how my new cabinet does.

keep it up bro!!
their starting to feel it now bro, its been damn hot this whole week, room has hit over 110F for many days in a row. it sucks for me also.lol. i raised my lights up to 28" from my smaller plants to see if this helps with flowering i also put my timer on a 10/14 to see if that kicks them into gear? its just too hot but i was reading that too intense light can mess with flowering in high temps, these lights have too much PAR to keep close and its messing with a few plants but the ones that have their lights high and beating their higher watt HID grows.

i am going to talk to mike and see if i can swap out my 500's for 4x290's and just use maybe 2x or 3x until the temps cool down, thinking its will be less intense light and thats the setup i wanted to run from the getgo.
damn those plants are lookin sexy i know im a little late but im subd now
pull up a chair my friend and hit this shit!:joint:
WOW! You have a lot of views/posts! I'm interested in LED tech too. My grow is still half clear in the flower stage with a mixture of: CFL 2700K/3000K/4100K + 6x12" Red CCFL for PC case modding + 2xT12 40w 4100K + Xenon 2x55W 4300K HID... the point is: experimentation leads to experience, even if they tell you otherwise... Looking good ^_^
bro u should see my other threads on the web, lots and lots of views and pages long.lol. Google will show all my grows if u type in my name and led grows.

u setup sounds pretty cool, keep us posted on how it dose please. we find the next best thing by trying things out and thinking outside the box
Yo some updated pics of the Spectra's in action. The LSD is lagging but the unknown purp strain is taking the fuck off. 35 days of 12/12 now

looks good bro, maybe ur other plants would do better with the lights higher? how high is ur lights right now?

man, that sucks to hear bro!! That would be cool to trade them out and see if it is the light intensity. plus they gotta be a little cooler. I'm interested to see what happens.

I had a busy week myself. I built a new flower cabinet, 4' x 4' x 7'. I only have the one spectra 180 in there for now. I get my second one on Tuesday!!! I am excited to see what I'll be able to grow!!! for the first time ever i will have the "required" amount of light for the size space i have.

I have a question for ya... how close can I hang the two panels next to each other? (side by side)

here is a photo of my new setup...

that's a nice flower room, great job. were those plants grown under the 180w from the start? i am not sure how far apart ive never even seen those lights but what I would do is just spread them apart enough to get even equal coverage over all ur plants .

i am also thinking the smaller lights will run cooler? seems the higher the watts per panel the more things will heat up on the inside. the smaller units even if all added up to the same wattage i am thinking will still run cooler? shoot i might even have to run only 2-3 panels? not sure but its worth a try if i can get them to flower. but once it cools down its game on 4x290's one on each corner of my 4'x4' tray.lol

Thanks man, and yes, all those plants were flowered under one 180 and nothing else. some of the buds were out of the view of light because it was so crunched and short. I don't have that problem anymore!!!
The reason I was asking about how close is, the panels are rectangular and my space is square... I though if I could get them close enough together they would project light as a square.

and I gotta say... four 290's in a 4x4 is insane!!!!! I can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!!!!

thats pretty impressive for a 180w and that size area with that many plants plants. i am not sure about the spacing but my thought is the wider the more intense foot print u get. it should just even things out more for all the plants. trying different ways will let u see whats best for ur setup. so were those plants just flowered under the 180w or vegged also?

any idea whats wrong with a few of those brow leaves? nute burn?
how close were ur lights before u seen my post about the light height? when did u notice that?
ive seen 2 things do that kind of leaves. do u or did u have any PVC in ur grow area? ive also seen this grow the leds being to close. dose it look a little like this?

these lights are no joke and if left to close they will overload ur girls, the owner had some lab test done and these lights have more PAR then HID of close to equal watts. he said he will post this lab test once his new site is up and running. this is why i say keep the lights high

no, I didn't veg them under a GLH. I used CFL's at that time.. right now I am vegging under my old tri band LED panel with 1W diodes. It seems to be doing great in a 3 x 3. and those brown leaves are burned from the light being so close it bleached them so much they turned brown after that. I'm really not sure why else it would be... I don't use many nutes at all.

and good point with the spacing. it is a new area for me so it should be fun trying different things to see what works better.

ya bro ive had the same issue when my lights were too close on older grows. these are strong leds and they will overload the girls. so times too much of a good thing can be bad. i keep my 500's high and i dont have this issue, i also think the strain has allot to do with it.

how high is ur light right now?

Right now i have it about 18" from my tallest plant. It doesn't seem to have any penetration issues and I can see light all the way at the soil. so I may try raising it a bit. I will experiment a lot more when i get the second panel.

18-20" seems to be a good spot where ive seen killer plants with the 180's. ive been told penetration was great at this height.

when i raised my 500's 28" my plants are still penetrated, i was shock, seems like the spectrum's are mixing all better also when higher

do you know how far away Mike @ GLH keeps his panels above his plants?

Also I wanted to say, I took a page from your book today... I installed my exhaust fan in my cabinet today and I ran the intake through flex tube and placed it in the middle of the floor, with a fan to blow all that fresh air under my plants!!! Thanks for sharing that idea!!!

Actually just moved it up right after those pics. It is about 12-14 inches above the tallest tops. It's about 18-22" above the lagging LSD's. I may move them a little bit higher as the laggers have started to stretch a little more. It's weird. It's like the LSD hit a certain height and then start shooting off pistils.

i am not sure off the top of my head but i posted all the heights on the lights on here a not too long ago.

as far as that intake deal, it works great but i also found a issue with it if dealing with very very hot temps like me. well at night when its cooler the plants love it but for me during the day when its 106F+ the plants do like that blowing on them.lol. make sure u temps are good 1st besides that its the best way to do things IMO.

ya that's why i dont mix strains anymore. i stick to just one strain pre grow and have better results allot of times because canopy is more even. ive had the same issue in the past and sometimes when a strain takes like 2-3 weeks longer now ur just waiting on dead time when u could be 2-3 weeks in veg on ur next grow. just nice with things more even and finishing at the same time on the same feeding.. ect..

nah man, I don't live near the sun, like you do!! hahaha my temps are about perfect in my basement. lights on/lights out temps are 72/79F. even when i didn't have an exhaust in there for a day it only reached 86F at it's highest. If it wasn't for fresh air, I wouldn't even need a fan!! my worst enemy is the humidity...

IB I've lurked and followed several of your grows, always good ideas and info floating around. After your last summer's grow, I though you'd coast through this summer. I've been running a 1st gen combo 1w & 3w panel for over a yr now and would really like to upgrade to the newer tech. But I digress.

If I were you I'd pull one of those 500's out of the tent until you can get your temps under control. 1 500w panel is more than enough to provide good lighting in a 4x4 area. And for stonyluv and yourself if you trade out, you might want to consider a rotary light mover.

Best of luck with this grow man.

thanks for joining my threads.
the light u have is just 3w 3 chip leds i dont think their have 1w leds.

i am not too sure how the 1 500w would cover my area because my tray is 4x4' but my plants go out past that area. i am thinking 2x or maybe 3x 290's would be good for this area until things cool down, after that i might still use just 3x the 290's for flowering and the 4th one for veg.

i do have a light mover somewhere, might not be a bad idea if i can find it? my grow also isnt in a tent its in a small room, the tent is shut down because its way too hot in their.lol. it will be a veg tent though once it cools down.

update. girls still not flowering, switched timer to 10/14 to help kick them into flowering. raised my 500's to 24-28" above my plants. temps have been hot like always 100-110F. its just too hot for the girls to function. the only thing i can think of to do is raise the lights to make them less intense and change the dark time to 14hrs, seemed to help last summer grow. its getting real old real fast and their about to see the hatch soon if this dont work. going to talk to mike about getting a few 290's to replace the 500's and just lower the wattage for the summer heat. i think its just too hot and too much light for this 100F+ temps

That sucks dude!! but I am very interested in seeing if they flower with the light raised more and longer dark period. have you tried a small dose of flowering nutes?

me to bro.

ya ive been feeding them bloom nutes also am feeding them Green Fuse witch helps but plants into flower, still nothing. the longer dark time help my girls with the same problem last year flower in the summer so i am hoping it will do the same? even though that will reduce yield i dont even care at this point. i will try to work them back up to 12/12 once they kick into flower mode and flower for a few weeks if they do?

Irish you should totally get some light movers and use them. I really want to see how well they can handle it, because this is how I think shops could mass produce their own without spending twice as much on fixed lights.
