Hey everyone I have something you may be interested in... Whether u have a few or a shit load of plants. A fellow Friend & Gardener turned me on to "Great" Water filter that screw's on the end of any faucet or Hose. Pacific Sands hose water filter. I ordered three of them & highly recommend them. Check them out www.PacificSandsinc.com they remove all the crap out of any tap water. Peace & happy gardening!

P.S. When u go to site click on the Outdoor product area

As far as flushing goes, it all depends on your feeding regimen.

I usually water 5 days a week with nutes. Then, flush on Saturday and recoup on Sunday. Start over again next week.

I dont water enough to have any drainage so I need to flush to wash out excess buildup. Works perfectly so why change?

If I do a 3 to 1 flush I don't water for at least 4-5 days how do you flush for two weeks?

most people on here are idiots and will hurt your plant more than help, if your plants are vigorous without flushing obviously you dont have excessive buildup of salts so flush is not needed until close to harvest, flush might be needed frequently if you over fertilize your plants which the cure is to just lower the concentration

I just flushed for first time. No difference at all in smoke, trics, finish times nothing!!! Let one bud go 10 days past the rest that were flushed for 13 days before that and nothing with the preflush cut, 13 day flush cut, 23 day single bud cut flushed.. NONE!!! I use Botanicare Pro nutes... Waste of time and dark period before harvest, total crap!!! Can mess up your buds big time too... So much bs on this site.. Don't listen!!!:wall:

sounds right to me, although weed can be like fine wine, where only an expert can detect the fine differences. although 13 days of flush is enough to completely get the nutes out, so maybe thats why you didnt see a difference, try 3 days and 13 days next time, it might make more of a difference

I have no idea what you were trying to communicate there.

you should flush with ro water for at least a week so tht your roots uptake the water and only water and lets out the impurities and salts then you crop,
whoever doesnt flush for at least a week is smoking chemicals still, just saying, your leves should turn yellow toward the 8th-10th weeks thats the buds sucking the last nutes out of e plant, FLUSH FOR A WEEK AT LEAST PEOPLE

why would you flush for 2 weeks anyway, thats just stupid, it only takes 1 or 2 waterings to flush. flushing is just running clean water though until all the nutrients are out, so once you flush it once, there is nothing left to flush, so flushing for 2 weeks is pointless unless its right before harvest.

I am saying I took preflush, almost done bud, very good! I flushed for 13 days took most of the harvest, then I left one big one, bud, and waited like another two weeks and cut it too! The smoke after all cured was identical.. Does that help you figure out what I meant??

I have no idea what you were trying to communicate there.

Tap water is great!! I have never used anything else and well two plants last grow, usually 20+, test grow, and one 1k hps all in hydro and I pulled final weight after dry/cure 9 oz's.. Now I might not be the best of the best but I can make the best of the best with great excellent! smoke with best yields given enough room and light so I think that tap works just great. I don't see people pulling 7 oz's off 35" tall plants indoors often so I think I got my shit wired tight enough to be able to say RO water, waste of time/$, distilled, bottled, filtered, none are worth the trouble if u got any sense. One plant made 2 oz's, best plant, one now that made all the babies I have, made the other 8oz's. As for flushing, a total bother/waste of time that can change some strains back to less trics and spur a veg type regrowth that lowers ur trics! I have seen it!!! Long dark periods at or before harvest is a total myth as well.. Seen plants really change for the worse when I tried in with a strain a long time ago.. Final word, tap water is the only right way! If you have two tiny plants then a gallon of clean water is workable but won't make a bit of difference really. If you have a grow with plants and want to try to move water all day and night for all to see then enjoy. I have shown best results and only use tap water. In hydro/nft I don't even bother anymore setting the water out, just use it straight from the tap. The chlorine hurts nothing and my yields I think prove that out. Flushing?? I took some preflush bud, flushed for 13 days and cut most all but one big bud, let that one go on flush another 14 days.. Not a lick of difference in the three smokes, smell, appearance in any of the three.. So tap fine, flush stupid, and I did it! did not just take it from people that say this or that.. Listen, don't listen, it makes no difference to me.. This is real world growing, not myths and theorys.. When I dried a bud with the leaves not cut off I did get a better smelling bud than with the wet cut trim. That is one I would try. But makes not that much difference either.. Enjoy and I hope this clears up some of the mis thoughts on all this same old chatter that just goes no where on these sites...... Bring your ppm down in last three to four weeks of flower to around 800ppm and that is all I would do if I even do that.... GL.

guess the point was there is nothing wrong with tap water. Chlorine is not a problem if you let it sit for a little while. I don't even have chlorine in my tap water. You should see the water out of the river I use in the summer. chlorine is the least of the worries. Even with that crap water my plants grow big and strong. mater of fact, I don't even have to use nutes when I use river water.

u should really only listen to people with a fuck ton of posts and rep but for some reason experts make a new account with no rep and u dont know who to believe.

I was banned and have posted for long time in other sites.. I am no noob but if you tell people things they don't want to hear sometimes on here then they curse u and their little friends come out and do the same even if you are saying they are going to kill themselves because of how stupid what they are doing is, they will ban u, so think what u like sonny. I don't need people to love me on a grow site, just wanted to tell some that will listen what real life is and not just say crap that I have read and not actually done in real life.. Rep?? Like that matters to me!! To Funny.. Do u need approval with people patting your back to be happy?? I don't need a thing from anyone on here! Don't live my life online for strangers to give me good feelings.. Hope My real world study helps is all.. Please don't rep me, heck I don't even pay attention to what that even means really. Good advice is all I offer and I have the facts to back it up. More than most of the prolific posters on here that I have read many posts from and seen give really bad advice. Like flushing from people that have posted 3000 times. Still is a myth and does nothing!! Why don't you people try it!! With flush, without flush, with just a few days difference in harvesting that makes no real difference in the bud except the flushed and not flushed can then be really compared. Don't listen, I could care less.. Hope the other guy knows that heads that live online and grow micro plants don't really know what they are doing.. When u grow in a whole room the little tiny growers that used their computer box for all their grows before learn it aint the same thing as a real grow... GL Thomas..

OK, here's my two cents, since this has come up for me before...

First, let's assume that most people growing the ganj are NOT self-proclaimed "old-school" "experts." Let's also assume that they ARE capable of reading and following the instructions printed on most brands of plant food, whether it's Wal Mart tomato food (what up, UB!) or some high-tech hoo-hah hydro solutions.

Let us also assume that the individuals that compose this vast majority of small-scale growers have jobs, lives, families...in other words, the ganja in their closets is not the focus of their existence, nor is it their primary source of income. This means that they are unlikely to engage in taking detailed notes about their long-term experimentation with different concentrations of nutrients, brands, and mediums (media?), simply because they have more immediate concerns, like walking their dogs or feeding their (human) children. So:

We have a picture of a person who aims to grow a little in his closet, while otherwise engaged in the rest of his life. He plants his plants and proceeds to pour the manufacturer's recommended dosage of nutes on them before going back to his job/wife and family/taxes/whatever. He is not wearing a lab coat or carrying a clipboard. He is not an arborist, he's a regular dude. If the plants do not keel over and die, he (quite reasonably) assumes that the nutes are doing their job, i.e. making the plant stay green and grow taller.

He is probably not aware that the manufacturer's recommended dosage of most of the nutes on the market (in my experience, anyway) is exceedingly high, inevitably resulting in salt buildup on the roots and in the medium, and why would he be? This is not his primary breadwinner, just a side project. Those salts need to be flushed out of the medium and off the roots, or nutrient lockout will result. This is not debatable. Therefore, flushing regularly during flowering, as well as pre-harvest, is advisable for EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT CONSIDER THEMSELVES TO BE AN "OLD SCHOOL" "EXPERT."

Personally, I also like to flush right before flip, and I will do it at least once during veg, especially an extended one. Again, that excess salt buildup...

Some of you have undoubtedly perfected your feeding regimen. (Some of you are undoubtedly kidding yourselves about the perfection of your feeding regimen as well, but that's for you to find out.) In any case, advising the people described above to feed their plants precisely what they need in terms of water and nutes, no more, no less, and give up their noob-y flushing is fatuous and manifestly un-helpful. Regular people have more to do than rip bong hits and bookmark forum threads, not to mention wading through hundreds of pages of sneering, snarky pissiness for the answers to fundamental questions. These sorts of sneering replies have kept me from posting questions here; I'm no old school expert myself, and I need answers, not to be sneered and pissed at.

For the record, I'm using Cutting Edge nutrients (although next round I'm gonna try out UB's tomato food on a couple for a side by side...). The medium I'm using atm is Sunshine Mix; I don't remember if it's #2 or #4. Probably some of both. My well water is real high in dissoved solids (ppms range from 300-450), so I dial back the manufacturer's recommended dosage by 50%, and my ppms wind up hovering around 1000. I used to run it full strength in a flood and drain hydro setup, with city water, and had many troubles with extreme saltiness. I used to spend unholy amounts of time scrubbing reservoirs.

So to sum up: if, like me, you dont consider yourself to be GG2G (god's gift to ganja), for the safety of your darling little girls, flush regularly. Many people advise doing so every third watering during flowering, and after the yellowing that occured halfway thru my current round when I slacked on flushing, I agree. Do it at least once during any veg that lasts more than 3 weeks. Do it right when you flip, to avoid any nute confusion during the time when the needs of the plants are changing. And yes, do it at the end, pre-harvest. My argument for this: at harvest time, the plants are done, finished, finito, geschlotten, DONE I say with using the nutes for growth or anything else. They are dying, whether you give em nutes or not. So not only is it nice to sorta clean them out, but they may keep on sucking water and packing on weight. Weight=love. And yes, two weeks seems like an awfully long time. I plan to flush pre-harvest for a week, or three waterings, whichever comes first.

'Nuff respect to rollitup and its denizens. I've learned plenty here, and hope to continue doing so for a long time to come; I sincerely hope that my comment is useful to someone, and that I'm not just strokin it here.
