It's my first grow and I've successfully topped my plant, then proceeded to LST while the plant gets big enough to reach my scrog screen. It's less than an inch away now, but it's already bushed out so much that it's nearly filled the space scrog would have. If I used the screen I might spread it out about 6 inches on each side, but there's not enough space for every branch to come up and be woven into the screen, many branches would simply be left out and deprived of the light they would have had. Should I keep with the scrog plan and trim these branches off to make clones? My concern is that the amount of branches I would have to remove would certainly shock/stunt the plant. Plant definitely seems to prefer making new branches and spreading wide than growing vertically, and by the time any branches grow high enough to weave into the screen the whole space (2x2.5) will be filled in anyway (albeit not as perfectly flat, though pretty close)
So basically is it worth it to use scrog if I am not increasing the footprint much if at all in doing so?
EDIT: my plan had been to cover about 80% of screen before flipping. I've heard of people waiting until just before it reaches the net to flip, but figured that wasn't the point of scrog. My plant is already spread out about 80% of screen space it just hasn't reached it yet.
