Billionairs like Gates give away money to lower their worth. Otherwise the confiscatory Estate Tax would take ,what, 90% and wasted.....er....spent by the bureacrcy.
You may be ignorant of the tax code.

He's giving money away to reduce his tax bill.

He could easily set up a trust with nearly all of his fortune and pass it on... But to whom?

If he's spending his principal on good causes on his own, then good for him.

When gates started giving the money away he stated " The money is going out because the government should not have it.

While there is SOME merit to that idea, the appropriate response isn't to circumvent the system but rather to work to improve it.

You've just hit on the core reason I detest our billionaire class to the extent I do.

I do not believe there has been improvement in US. tax system since the 90% rates disappeared in like 1959? As long as Citizen United is the law there will be no improvement for anyone but the 1%. Is making use of the full scope of US. tax code a circumvention or an astute person using what the governments rules ALLOW.

Agreed, wholeheartedly.

Never thought that would happen, let alone so soon!

But then again, you have self made billionaires that grew up in relatively modest means, like Gates and Zuckerberg that give away literally billions of dollars to charity.

Why are they so generous?

Oh that's right , there're Democrats.

Fucking Republicans are vampires, sucking the blood of the common man
Liberals are just all-around better people than conservatives in general. Conservatives are a drag on progress and further enlightenment.

The outline is that they're corporate Democrats, so they really aren't evoking liberal. They want to keep their monopoly power and keep buying government to do their bidding and keep ignoring the income needs of the average American.

They're Democrats- but they aren't really liberal so long as they're economically conservative.
