Is there a cheap method to Vegging clones while the mother flowers?

I'm curious about cloning and wondering if I need 2 grows going or is there a different setup to keep vegging your clones while the mother flowers?
I have a magnetic 400W mh ballast running over my plant, I also have a fixture I made that has 4x 42w CFLs and a reflective hood

I have 1 plant under a 400w MH right now, and she's coming up to her 6th node. I was wanting to clone her and have her flower while the clones veg a bit longer. Then I was going to make 2-3 clones from my 2 clones and let their mothers flower, and so on.

Is there a way I can do this with the lighting I have? Or should I just clone them, let them flower with the mother and then order a few diff strains of fem seeds?

You could use the cfl's to veg,I would get more though,or maybe get some t5's.Best bet would be to use the 400 mh to veg and get a hps for flower.good luck.

That's why I'm asking, because I do plan on switching to a Conversion bulb for flowering. So I can't just take the mother and lock it in the dark for 12 hours and leave the clones under the conversion bulb, which is a decent idea just requires my punctuality over a timer.

Even if its just a slow veg thats fine, as long as I'm not starting from seeds everytime...

I guess you could take the flowering plant(s) out and put in a diff. room form 12 hours of the day but I can see a number of problems arising from doing that. First, you would have to be on time and there to do it EVERY day at the same time. Second, later into flowering you are going to want to move the plant as little as possible or risk breaking off a potential big nug. As others have said, I suggest making two separate areas-- the CFL's for your vegging and grab a HPS conversion bulb for your MH light.

There are 30$ish CFL bulbs on ebay that pull 125W and put out the "equivelent" of 600w incandescent if you want a cheap upgrade to your vegging.

i was in the same position and i just built a veg/clone chamber out of a rubbermaid bin. cuttings root in 1-2 weeks, veg for 2 weeks then goes into the flower room. i keep my veg box in a separate room from my grow area, not sure if youre trying to keep it all contained in one room or not.

Were talking about taking clones and flowering the mother. But seeings how this strain could take anywheres from 2-3 months to harvest, do you have that much room to veg for that long? You need to either get your strain dialed in, or buy seeds every harvest and forget the cloning...

You would need to have say, another tent. Keep the 400 running 24/7 and veg in the tent. Once they are old enough, say 4 weeks, plop them into the bloom room and start over again if you want by cloning from the clone Every four weeks you will have a finished product.

Couldn't I still clone them veg them with the mother then flower when she does?

Just so i'm clear on something...are you planning on taking a clone from a clone that is flowering? seriously keep your mom in a 16/8 light cycled room and let her mature and take cuts from her. prune her down after each time you take cuts. that way you keep healthy genetics. if you keep taking clones from clones without letting them fully mature you will break your genetics. you can clone/veg the cuts in the same room as your moms. make a separate area for your flowering room. There isn't any way around this if you want a healthy set up. It's alright to take one of the cuts from your mom and USE IT to replace your mom, but never a cut from an unmature clone.

I'm planning on making a clone from a plant grown from seed that is currently in vegetative growth, far from flowering

This sounds like you're taking a cut from a clone that has only just rooted. Or haven't had a chance to mature. Which I believe is a few months, but am not sure.

well shit...now i'll have to do some more research. Dude at hydro store that I just called told me there shouldn't be any problem with taking cuts from cuts. Though another employee at the same store believes otherwise......damn. I take back what I said. good luck, I hope all works out well.

Pull your flowering one from the grow area and put in a dark closet.
    FREE.

its a time consuming method this but defo works, id say clone under cfl, some ppl veg under cfl then blast with hps to flower, i use 65w cfl to veg it works a treat have also used 45w

Right, but then you're talking multiple plants in flower, all at different heights resulting in a uneven canopy.

What I would do, seeings how you want perpectual, keep the mother in veg, clone her, take ALOT of clones at get those dialed in, get good at cloning and as soon as they root, throw them in flower. This way, you don't need the MH for any reason, OR you could veg those clones and then flower them. I'm talking SOG, and the only problem with this is plant count. Tons of people do it

I was going to put the clones higher up closer to the top of the mother and put CFL's between the two. Lower the clones as they grow. But I really don't know what I'm doing...
