flood time: three times during the day, 4 minutes per time.

Here're the pics from last night's work round. Apologies for a lot of blurriness and over exposure going on because of the lights having been lowered six inches since last update. The girls are responding in a great way though and should finish off pretty well. Hoping to still pull 1.5-1.75oz per plant or .7-.8gpw despite the a) topping debacle, b) lack of properly vented hoods, and c)fucking mixing a ten week and eight week strain into the same grow cycle(:wall:) this time around. :bigjoint:

The sativa tray (Tray 2) is looking good, but nothing like the Jack Flash-heavy tray, and will probably not get enough time to finish.

Live and learn:

- More plants,
- less topping more lollipopping,
- lights sitting on top of the plants with cooltube hoods. bongsmiliebongsmilie

Hey Old Frog,
Always looking forward to your updates with great anticipation.
Past the blurriness, I can make out some extremely 'picture book' cola action.
Damn they must look so good 'in person'.
You should make that expected yield per w. You'd kick it in the arse if that sativax had another 4 -5 weeks to finish. More than 10 weeks on them, (not likely). They need 12 - 14 to really show their stuff, (not likely).
Other than yield, you have quality there mate, from what I can make out, the resin production on that JF is fucking outstanding. ;-)
Show me some focussed porn!

I'm a dedicated advocate to living and learning. Those who claim to know it all will stop the learning process = :dunce:

Edit = DaG' landed before me, but I agree... I got that yummy yummy too.

Shit OF, how big is your res' again?

How far you off of finishing?

What are the roots like at this stage in the grow, are they everywhere?

Anytime you want to post some serious close up pics of those JF colas I'm ready for it mate

Mammath, Only 70 gallons for the lowe profile under the tables.

By the calendar I'm 12-14 days out with the JFs. The SC has been known to go 14 weeks, but I'll chop it no matter what at 9, which is tragic, but ultimately my fault for having stuffed the room with non-homogenous strains.

They completely line the trays under the hydroton. Every irrigation alley is full. I'm gonna fill the trays with more hydroton next round to give the roots more dark leeway to expand under.

Soon man, I'll turn the macro settings on full blast, promise. ;)

Awesome grow, surf's up in that sog, +rep to you.
DC - thanks for stopping by and the kind words! Just testing the surf this time around. . .

So does this mean at the moment you are refilling that sucker up twice a day?
So bigger res', or 1 per table is in order for next time?

It will be a shame because some of those sativa-x colas were going to be magnificent. :-(
But a growers gotta do, what a growers gotta do. Damn you commercial boys can be cruel

Yeah I thought there must be shit loads and was wondering how hard it was to keep them covered.
Do you have a lot of shit to dispose of at the end of a grow? Not as much as when you were doing it in soil I guess?
How do you manage that?
I assume you wash and reuse the hydroton?

Oh yeah, bring on the close ups :hump:

Mammath,

- Filling the res. once a day to the brim. Three feeds later the powerhead pumps are running dry and I've had to put them on a temporary timer to shut off for the last six hours before refill of res. I think this is closer to a 1-1.5gal per plant figure.

- Two 70gal reservoirs next time for sure. Maybe only for the last three weeks of flower though.

- I'll post more sweet soil pics of the sativa-x colas soon so you can see what one going to full term looks like. Remember, this was accidentally a more interesting grow than I'd wanted, honestly. ;)

- Gonna shred all the RW cubes and root mass with my super bark shredder mulch maker thing (read here Wood Chipper), turning it all into dried compost lasagna layering material for the outdoor landscape plants. The stem/branch material will be dried for months and then burnt in the stove this winter to keep the farm house warm. All fan leaf matter is composted, and all trichome-laden leaf is used in various pot-based food product experiments, or I press hash with it. Hydroton will be rinsed and reused with the added new stuff in two weeks, yes.

...speaking of minimizing waste, I'm currently rendering the schems for a scrubbed-air heating system that heats the homestead in the winter from cooltube venting alone. Pics soon on that too.

I'm seriously thinking about going off-grid with the grow side of power-consumption as well. Ten 600w solar panels along with complete dry-cell/inverter and reserve generator system are looking mighty appealing right now. I'm getting tired of drinking so much coal-powered elec. $10k usd worth of hardware and materials is enough to cover all of that.

Commercial...pshaw. It's all personal bro! :bigjoint: :bigjoint:

depending on your state frog you could have them partially fund the solar side of the project! i know in new jersey they will pay up to 40% of the total install price of panels !! im sure that leo would love to help funding your grow:)

Hey Wink sounds like NJ's got a good incentives program going for the renewable energy. I'll have to look into what kinds of state subsidies, if any, exist for me along those same lines... :peace:

hey old frog AWESOME grow !!! whats the best yielding strain you have tried ? mine was big bud x northern lights.. just curious on your trays how many lights you have hanging over and what wattage ???
