he's god awful. Why do good actors think they can be good musicians---just make fools out of themselves like Michael Jordan playing baseball :)

I like him, hopefully he is just going through a phase and will be okay....unlike his brother River. I hope he makes it through this but it is getting stranger and stranger.

he's committing career suicide. I'm not sure he could get another movie going out on national television and making an ass of himself.

WTF! I used to think he was a pretty cool actor. Now I think he is a f**king idiot. He actually says that he wants to do to rap what Pink Floyd did to rock with their album THE WALL. What the F? How pretentious... who does he think he is? Another self-important celebrity..... I figured when they said he was going into music he would do rock, or maybe country after his grammy for playing Johnny Cash... But rap? with Puff Daddy? Im very surprised..... I think he is a lunchbag now

there was a scene he was attempting in Walk the Line---he went completely full on crazy and started banging his head against either a door or a bed post until a bunch of blood came out. They had to postpone shooting because he messed his face all up and they couldn't use the footage because it was too disturbing.

He later said he was thinking about his brother for the scene.

Wow.... he seems a little on edge.. I heard he is a chain-smoker and also a vegan... well, you are right... career suicide.. I just dont get it? A rapper? with Puff Daddy? Im surprised. I wouldnt think that he would go in that direction.. when he actually said in an interview that he wants to make the Pink Floyd The Wall of rap albums I totally lost all respect for him..

looked like a schtick to me. he took the glasses off and smiled at the very end, when they shook hands the second time. it was all over the morning news. nice publicity stunt. seemed to work.

yea, i think its all staged. apparently, he has sum1 following him around with cameras.... i think they are trying to trick ppl into thinking he is serious. kinda like 'Borat' only making fun of hip-hop.

WTF.......... kinda cool to see someone NOT conform. I loved it. Damn sure more interesting than the "tits on a stick" that followed. God forbid someone should not be EXACTLY what we "expect" them to be. It's Lettermans JOB to engage a guest, not the other way around. Obvious this was a contractual obligation with the studio to promote the film but guess what......he's a musician now. So he didn't "play nice" like all the other MOOKS....interesting television, imagine that ! And then there are y'all posting " he must have been high"....LMFAO......you gotta be kidding me !!! So the fuck what if he was ? The "sunglasses" commentis claaaaaaaaasic. Thread by "MOOK"........AKA "son of man". Imagine that.Saaaaaaaame guy that ran his C.S in my thread. You're right Mook.......shit like this is important. I'm thinking you're more than likely of the "female" persuasion....either a straight feeeeeeeemle or......bitchlike. Know what i mean......... boaaaaaay.

Damn, i need to watch more network TV i guess....."sad and uncomfortable to watch". Last time TV provoked me that way it was a dead kid in Iaq on PBS. This culture and mind set amazes me.

It makes me uncomfortable to see someone humiliated. If your standard is dead kids, than so be it.

Ironically death does not make me uncomfortable - even if it is a kid... Life isn't all it is cracked up to be.

I saw this thread then I saw the story on the Drudge Report. It piqued my interest so I decided to check it out.

It was bizarre, that's for sure. It was fun watching Letterman squirm uncomfortably.

It's possible Joaquin is suffering a nervous breakdown. One can tell quite a bit about a person's state of mind simply based on their physical appearance. The unkempt beard, lack of affect in his voice, shaggy hair, and dark glasses are dead giveaways. A combination of overwork and personal problems could could push anyone over the edge. It's also possible he was intoxicated, which may or may not be related to a breakdown.

If it was a stunt, it was well-executed and it paid off. Joaquin is an actor after all. I choose to not own a television, but I sought out the segment online and watched it on the CBS website.

Whatever it was, it's getting attention.
