I will agree that medical marijuana has done a lot.
It will be the hemp plant that chips away and gains ground with the states that don't want marijuana.
a buddy of mine showed me an article in a new business boom magazine, he knows I am from N.C.it mentioned Spring Hope, North Carolina's Industrail Hemp Manufactoring. pictures of big fields of hemp growing and being harvested last year 2015. we also talked about the Charolette"s Web oil had been legalized there too in 2014 I think.

I've strongly considered applying for a hemp license and start a breeding program to find and isolate high cbd specimens for extraction.

I have every intention of doing exactly that. I doubt it will be in Kentucky though. I think the Bluegrass State will be a decade behind the trend for as long as I can see into the political future, although I do have to admit that Georgia surprised the hell out of me. Never saw that one coming; not yet, anyway.

Actually it won't.
The magazine cover I posted is real. KY planted more hemp than anywhere else in the US.
Cbd is already legal here.
The article states that KY will be the epicenter of hemp in america.

I'm not rightly sure. I've seen them use all kinds of tractors on it.
What I want to do would be a smaller scale higher quality type thing. There is different kinds of hemp. Some is good for rope, some good for seed.
I would need the seed type and grow it seedless as I could for good flower production.
Get the equipment for closed loop extraction.

Not really, there is just not a lot of specialized equipment right now.
I have done a lot of research. (I am also looking into no till farming, which is pretty exciting stuff if you are an ag dork.)
My family farms and we would love to grow hemp as we could make more money than with corn and soybeans.
Right now there is only about a 500 million dollar a year market for hemp and almost all of that is imported from China and Canada. I imagine the market will improve with legalization of hemp.
The main reason we would make more money is we would need to use much less fertilizer and almost no pesticides.
From the research I have done, bugs hate hemp and I would have to use less pesticides on corn and soy in neighboring fields.
But, if I grow it now, the feds would come in and seize my land and put me in jail.
Weird thing is, most farms in the US have hemp growing all over it wild. Most mistakenly call it water hemp.
The feds could literally seize nearly every farm in the country for illegally growing hemp.

There is actually a federal license for hemp and in KY it is required before the state will license you. You are right that hemp would get most farmers in trouble.
Though it is the federal government and they could do anything they wanted I think they will treat it like state legal mj. I also think that's why it will help usher in full legalization. Once hemp is legal and you have all the states with either legal mj or hemp we then can go to the feds to get it rescheduled.
Funny thing is a person has always been able to get a license to import hemp.
I hear you on no till. We went no till on our veggie garden.
Most hemp farms grow large quantities in rows. I don't want to do that. I want smaller numbers with higher quality. I want to grow for maximum flower production.
There is not a lot of specialized equipment. I think that will come with time.

The feds raided an Native American hemp grow. Native Americans are supposed to be able to grow marijuana and hemp legally.
I can not trust the feds even if I had a permit. They can do what ever the fuck they want.
I can not risk my property on a permit which I can not get right now anyway.

No doubt. I feel comfortable with it here. There is major backing here.
That's the only thing I don't like about the hemp program here. The state and feds get a GPS location and are allowed to inspect anytime.

It's a issue here now. In the beginning, we were all marching together and now there are two camps. The outdoor growers are screaming and the hemp people are suing! The Oregonian has some interesting reads on the subject.I'm curious do you vote on state-wide ballot measures or is it up to your State Legislature?

Any idea what it takes to get one of those permits passed by the feds, how many have been granted, or how many are available? I'm guessing they prefer established farmers with tons of investment capital for a big initial fee. They'll inspect and monitor the shit out of your hemp to make sure it's not budding up much. They'll want to see hemp stalks, not bud so much.
