Hey xx, check out the thread in my sig, I'm running that exact light, two actually, they rock :D Little heat, low wattage, high yields, very efficient, they're for real, no hype. I'd say the 315w matches a 600w hps, 2 of them with a full footprint, a 1000w. Cheers...

They are not heat free at all but work well. A 315W CMH produces about as much heat as a 250w HPS. They can make some really fire buds.

I got mine wired up today... Man this thing is bright! I'm loving it already! I need to take it apart again and correct all my wire lengths and hook the two bulbs onto the light mover but things are coming together nicely!

Hey Yoda, all lights throw off heat, relatively speaking these would be slightly more than LED's watts for watt depending on brand/design. But running 2 in my 4x9.5x7' H room, I'm about 2-3F above what I was running when I had 600w of LED's and pulling 760w with these, I'd say that's pretty close. In comparison to what you'd put out with hps isn't even comparable. My advice is to have the height of at least 6ft, 7ft better to dissipate any heat and be able to grow out 3ft plants. If you're below that height I'd recommend to stick with LED's like A51 for sure.

thanks for the reply's i think i'm gonna give the 315 a try .. the only thing i'm really curious about .. my set up is a 600w digital, super red 600 hps and flowing 400CFM my temps are running 71f to 73f lights on ... and the LEC with no air cooling is going to be less heat? ... does anyone know if they offer it air cooled?

Would be cool if we got some more info on the heat when you guys get your setups up and running, I am also interested in these LECs and CMH lights they seem really good and not super pricey. Anyone got a link to a good deal on one?

7 foot of height to grow a 3 foot plant? So these lights need 4 foot of clearance? I might not be so interested after all because I only have 6.5 foot of height and can grow 5-6 foot plants with my LEDs as setup now.

You need the head room in comparison to LED's for a few reasons. LED panels are thin and you can go closer, say 10"-12" above the canopy. You need about 12-14" for the fixture with the Sun Systems/reflector, then you need 20-22" above the canopy, this seems to be a happy medium with my testing so far, any closer and you get a lot of bleaching/burn, these things are intense. Add say 30" for a plant, 10" -12" for a 5Gal pot. In the end if you're less than 6ft, that's going to be tight or you're going to have to run shorter plants. They're not great for low spaces, I'd stick with high end or DIY LED's in anything under 6ft. There's a definite advantage with LED's in smaller spaces, no doubt.

Edit: The Blue Dream I'm running under the second light is about 42" tall, my room is 7ft height. That's about as high as I can go in there. To me that's fine, I like to grow shorter/wide plants with as many colas as I can get. These LEC's have great penetration but any light if you're going 48" + you're not going to get a lot of penetration and end up with a lot of fluff/popcorn towards the bottom, Not worth it imo.

I got mine from advance tech lighting for $220 each. That comes with the bulb and ballast. Sockets and wires need to be purchased separately. The ballast runs on 220/240v only.


I'm setting up 2 315w CMH in a 4x8x7 tent. I will be hanging them vertically, and they'll be on a yo-yo light mover. My plants will be growing vertically up the walls of the tent.

It'll be interesting to see if I have enough width if these things are as intense as @GroErr has experienced.

My vertical setup is a bit different than most others, and has unique challenges.

Depends on strain, I have a sativa hybrid plant that is very branchy and tall. Its super lanky with very long internode spacing. 6-7ft is not uncommon but the bottom of the plant still gets enough light to make rock hard nugs because of the structure of the plant. The first buds usually start like 2 feet up the plant :)

That'll be cool to see, are you posting it here? Haven't seen any vertical babre-bulb grows with these, they should work well, good luck.

Those sound like a strain for senile's vertical bare bulb setup. That's one way to gain some height with these. I've seen some awesome yields from vert/bare bulb grows, I'd expect these Elite Agro's to do well in that style grow.

I haven't decided if I want a thread or not yet.... I'll definitely drop some pics every so often though!

I have less than 2ft from bulb to vertical trellis, but bulb will be constantly moving vertically so I'm hoping the light moving will spread the intensity enough not to burn

Definitely would like to see that setup. Yeah, I'd think the light mover would cover it. I found also that when I had a fixed fan in and the light closer I was getting more burn/bleaching. Switched out the fixed fan for an oscillating one a couple of weeks into this round and that helped. The PPP strain I'm running seems to burn easy and it's not nutes so it has to be the lights. The JTR I just pulled was great, and the Blue Dream has been fine as well, at 20-22" above canopy.

Is it more intense to use the fixture to redirect the majority of the light on a 4x4 area? Conversely, is it less intense to spread the light to an area of pi(22") ² or the 100% of light focused to a 3x3 or 4x4 area?

Is my thinking able to be followed? I'm in a car right now, when I'm back home I'll juggle some numbers around, unless anyone wants to get on it first.


Just off the brain here: its gotta be more intense with the fixture. The full intensity of the light focused on that patch of area as opposed to the intensity of the light spread over the full 360° of a vertical setup...

Should be more intense with reflector because it reflects the light into a more concentrated beam.Usually the less coverage your reflector gives the more concentrated the light in that area.
