Thank you for the kind words my friend. I love this site, you can tell gardening is good for the soul. I would say 95% of the people on this social media/learning site are solid good people. Just spooninsmoking on some high school sweet heart mixed with stank breath the names of all the strains is crazy lol. Remember the days there were maybe 20 names for weed. Do you think i could put together a 200 watt cob for two bills? Maybe. I have 700 watts led and 250cfl now but leds are cheap adding 200 more of quality may make a world of difference it's only 3.5ft x 5ft area a little bigger room than that but need Fillter and fans. ..

Screenshot_2017-02-04-22-10-22.png what do you think? It's only 100watts but everything but the frame is included i think. I couldn't find kits at CobKits do you think i could buy all the stuff for 200watts from the other place there site is not very user friendly couldn't message them

Cost about 800$. It's a dream come true. No bulbs to replace, hoods and glass to clean, more area available in my tent, no more heat, less spent $ on kwh, better plants, easy to snap photos in, Ive spent more money on cfl, hps, and t8, t5 bulbs alone! Counting the 3 hoods collecting dust and others that got "lost" or borrowed out, Best investment by far!

I'm for sure heading in this direction money is tight with 3 kids and wife is having a second spinal surgery next month in just over a year so i have been off work much more and will be for a bit with the kiddos. Thinking of doing 200watt cree or citizen build to start and go up

a lot of people like the active light engines fo that reason. for less than $100 you can get a cob/heatsink combo you can run out to 250+W and later on drop it down to a very efficient 75-100W.

constant voltage drivers FTW. you could start off with
    4 x active engines at 200W each
    add 4 more and have 8 @ 100W each
    add 4 more and have 12 @ 67W each

on the same set of drivers

Any other recommended drivers besides meanwell that are a little more affordable? I need at least 800 watts total. Thinking just 2 drivers

maybe some other people feel differently, but i cant recommend anything other than meanwell, sorry. you get what you pay for, $0.25/watt for 10 years of efficient power is a bargain, imo.

I agree on buying quality parts for sure. But doesn't technology double every year? In 10 years we'll probably be using sharks with friggin lasers to grow

Driver tech is actually well matured.....Any driver will have a tough time breaking 95% efficient or higherjust because of losses....Diodes are making the advancements mainly....Drivers are changing thru higher vFs and such ....They have also been around a long time for powering DC motors too...Not just diodes...:peace:

That kind of thought could be a very workable way of switching from other kinds of lights to COBs with multi-light grows.

its hard to justify spending money on replacement bulbs. spending $50 or $100 incrementally on LEDs will pay more dividends down the line

    Hey guys,

The plants are loving the new COB fixture. They have been vegging under it for a few days now. I've raised the lights to about 24" above the plants because the tallest one was starting to show signs of light stress with it 12-16" away.

Everyone is happy now. Only room to go up from here IMG_2375.JPG

Very good read and freshener and part of what drives the success of COBs for our gardens. Spectrums are excellent and plants love them.

Maybe I can ask how many gpw(grams per watt) are you harvesting under cobs?
Any advice for a (cob) first timer?

    Building my first cob setup.

    Hi all,

Quick question anyone have any experience with
CrxSunny 600W COB full spectrum LED's.

I currently have 2 x 80 watt UFOs in a small 1 x 0.5m grow cupboard. I need to know if this ligt should be enough light for veg and bloom as advertised. If this will work I can sell my 2 UFO's and replace them with this one.

I was told COB LED's are even more effective than some HPS, is this true?
