how many degrees temp rise are you getting out of that 300, everytime I plug mine in the box gets to hot,
Hm..I have the same one and I only get about 1-2 degrees hotter, I was actually trying to find ways to bring the lights off temps down because I was worried there wasn't enough fluxuation between lights on and off. But I decided to not worry about it.

I get more like 10 degrees, but then again my box fan speed is low for stealth no sound, I know humanrob has done some degree tests, and if memory serves he was getting 5 or 6 over,,
not to mention its been a hot summer here in Oregon

I just want to throw in that I've found the Old School Mars 100x3 can burn plants at under 10", and I've read others say the same thing. So it might depend on the strain you are growing, some like LEDs, some are more sensitive to them. I would be careful going below 12" with them, on my run with it the tops of the big colas were 6-8" and they started to suffer from it. So I pulled it up to 12" until they recovered.
Good info. I've read all different height recommendations....but I would assume the closer the better. Def going to have to see how the plant reacts and adjust from there.

Good point, I think he got the 60x5 watter like I have, and I can run mine pretty close, but I'm sure some strains are more sensitive to the heat, that makes sense.
Yes, exactly...its the 60x 5w model. I guess its the newer "old" model.

When I run my light, temps only go up 4-5 degrees, but I also have a pretty beefy exhaust fan for a small tent.

yes, the newer old one,, lol
look any bump in diode wattage helps, but around here guys are usually working with 100 watt plus single cobs, take a look around the LED section at some of the grows under cobs, as you move forward you will begin to think ,,, humm if I am going to spend 3 or 4 months getting a clone or seed to finish and I could harvest 2 or 3 times the amount for the same effort,, it begins to make sense,
for now enjoy the grow , I admire people who find an easy way, affordable and its good for them, and just repeat it ,
then there are guys like me and Tim Allen who just cant help themselves,, RAHH RAHH RAHH,,, lol
Led is a fever beware!!

HAHAHA.....Well, I went the cheaper rotue this time, but I'm already getting the feeling that there will be a few "upgrades" in the future...LOL
I never could just leave well enough alone :-)

I'm also using the newer model and have zero issues with it and my plant loves it.

I have it in a 2x2, but honestly I should be running at least 2 of them in there

I was impatient and cheaped out (retrospectively not cheap, quite the opposite all things considered haha) and got mars reflector series 96x5. Stable temps @ 77 with exhaust in a 2x2. The light uses crap fans that sound like a jet engine. Not a stealth unit for sure.

Hoping to move to COBs eventually, small budget though. The wife is very stingy lol.

That probably draws 240w? That will be 60w/sq ft in your space. That sounds reasonable for Mars. It will be interesting to see how it grows.

What did it cost? You could have gotten into CMH for about $150 and run 35w/sq ft.

Draw is 200w. Cost around $250 back in October? I'm very paranoid about HID lighting.
